Do you view Scoot Henderson as an all-star this season considering his freakish skill set & impressive maturity level ?
Dana Gauruder
1:04
There are a lot of very good veteran guards in the Western Conference. Murray, Fox, Doncic, Irving, Edwards, Alexander, Curry, Booker -- just to name a few. No, i don't expect Henderson to be an All-Star right away. Certainly a candidate for All-Rookie First Team, especially if/when Lillard is traded, which would open up plenty of PT for him.

Most likely candidate for the 76ers to use their mid level exception and/or final roster spot?
Dana Gauruder
1:07
Don't know if they necessarily will use it. Could be keeping their options open for a Harden and/or Harris trade. I will say there are some interesting names on the market -- Diallo, Barton, Oubre, Green. However, I don't think the Sixers will sign a free agent until the Harden situation is resolved.

Now that the Celts signed Jaylen Brown to a supermax, how are we going to fill out the roster around him ,Tatum Porzingis, D White, Horford, Timelord, Brogdon, and Pritchard? It's really nice playoff rotation except there's a huge 3&D wing sized hole. Jordan Walsh is promising but nowhere near ready. Is there anyone we could target in a trade or FA signing?
Dana Gauruder
1:09
Some of the above names might fit. Watford and Winslow are still out there as well.

Do you think the Lillard-Harden unsettled situations have temporarily halted what's left of the free agent market? Or are teams pretty much done, leaving veterans like Terrence Ross, George Hill, Boban, Ish Smith, Danny Green, etc. without a job?
Dana Gauruder
1:14
The Lillard/Harden situation have had some impact but some of those vets are going to have a tough time hooking on with a team. A function of the draft -- your first and second-round picks are going to push some players off your roster. Often, it's the guys in their 30s who get lost in the wash. It's a little surprising that the NBA hasn't expanded, given that there are some pretty good players out there looking for jobs or having to settle for contracts overseas.

If the Pels have another subpar season, are they going to think about blowing up the Ingram/Zion core? They've been the discount Clippers for the past three seasons.
Dana Gauruder
1:17
Crucial year for the Pelicans. They're a team that can make a deep run in the playoffs if they have all their pieces working in coordination. If they miss the postseason or don't get past the first round, a shakeup is inevitable. Really a function of Zion's health/motivation. If he's on the court and playing up to his potential, the Pelicans can make a lot of noise. If he's in street clothes, another disappointing season is almost inevitable.

So with Jaylen Brown signing the richest contract in history is this going to jack up the market come the next CBA because with all of your respect to Jaylen Brown he's a great player but is he the number one option on a championship team and the answer in my opinion is no and I'm kind of old school whereas I believe the franchise player should get the most like the giannises and the jokers of the world
Dana Gauruder
1:21
I was surprised that he got a fully guaranteed max. The Celtics were in a quandary, from my perspective. They're going all out to win a championship -- Porzingis trade was an attempt to push them over the top. But if they didn't come to an agreement with Brown, that cloud would have been hanging over them entering camp and beyond. I agree with you -- Brown isn't a No. 1 player on a championship caliber team. You might say he's a shaky No. 2, considering how last year's playoffs played out. It will interesting to see in future seasons how the Celtics handle the cap with Tatum and Brown eating up a big chunk of it.

Should PJ Washington sign his QO and take free agency next year? Or go the Ayo Dosonmu route and sign a below market value contract? It doesn't seem like anyone could come together on a sign-and-trade.
Dana Gauruder
1:23
Is he confident enough to bet on himself? That's what it comes down to -- if he has a good season and pumps up his value, he can enter the market next season as a UFA. At this point, signing the QO looks like the best option.
KJ
1:23
Is there something that we're unaware of that Christian would have been signed yet? I mean I know the defense isn't the greatest but the big man that can score has got to have some value
Dana Gauruder
1:26
There have always been some character questions that have dogged him during his career. He's never lasted more than 2 seasons in any organization. That being said, he's too talented to be on the market much longer. I think he'd be a great second unit option -- instant offense type.
KJ
1:26
Who do you think is going to be traded first James or Damian Lillard because I really haven't heard too much movement on either side and plus it probably doesn't help that both these guys have basically earmarked only one team to go to
Dana Gauruder
1:29
I had to place a wager on it, I'd say Lillard. I can't imagine the Heat and Blazers are that far apart on the package. Maybe they're still looking for a suitable third party but I get the feeling that will finally be completed in the next month or so. The Harden thing might drag on closer to training camp.

Will the Raps trade Siakam this summer? If so, where and for who/what?
Dana Gauruder
1:35
The difference with Siakam compared to Harden and Lillard is that he hasn't demanded a deal. In fact, he'd like to stay. However, the Raptors have been tested the market for awhile. The Hawks seem like a natural trading partner. However, he's got a big contract -- $37.9MM -- and it's expiring. The trade partner would have to be motivated to signing Siakam long-term.
Clippers
1:37
Do you see harden as a clipper to start the season ? Why did nba change summer league format, it was more exciting when more teams had a chance to win it all oppose to the top 4 ?
Dana Gauruder
1:39
In terms of the summer league, not sure about the format. What was apparent is that the better players in the summer league were often shut down after 2 or 3 games. I don't think teams were all that motivated to win a summer league title. As for Harden, I think the Sixers don't want that situation to drag into the regular season. I do see the Clippers as being the logical landing spot -- don't really see another contender at this stage where he fits.

The Pacers obviously drafted Jarace Walker and then dealt for Toppin. Walker looks ready defensively, but will need time on the offensive end. Who do you think starts at PF for IND this season?
Dana Gauruder
1:41
They will both get adequate playing time. I think Toppin has the edge, just on experience. He's been itching for a bigger role and got buried behind Randle in NY.

Do you think Maxey will still be untouchable if there stiil isnt a deal for Harden in September?
Dana Gauruder
1:43
Yes. They've held off on an extension for Maxey in order to keep the options open for next summer -- they could be a major player in the free agent/trade market. It's also why the Sixers are reluctant to bring in big contracts that run beyond next season. But they value Maxey highly -- he's not going anywhere.

I have heard that Harden was asked to sacrifice his game by Doc to make Embiid the main focus of the offense?  He also seems to have given up $$$ to help the team in the last year.   If this is true I see why he wants out.  Do you agree that this is what happened?
Dana Gauruder
1:47
The main reason for the disconnect, from what the beat writers/national columnists have unearthed, is that Harden was under the impression he'd be rewarded for making that salary sacrifice last summer. He opted out of his $47.4 mill for a two-year deal with a lesser salary to help the front office make some moves last year. He was under the impression he'd get a long term deal this summer but the Sixers don't want that commitment.

Have you heard on the news about bronny James thank god he's okay
Dana Gauruder
1:50
Yes, scary situation, especially when it involves anyone so young. Way too early to speculate how this will impact his basketball career. Just hope he'll enjoy good health from now on.
Kramer

Any favorite moves of the off-season because of the player fit and/or lack of assets given up?  I still think Collins can be a great get for Utah, especially considering they didn’t give much up for him. Think it could be a really interesting fit.
Dana Gauruder
1:54
Yes, a pure salary dump by the Hawks. The Jazz got a solid player in his prime. Markkanen-Collins-Kessler makes for interesting frontcourt. Can Lauri handle opposing wings defensively? That would be my only concern -- then again, they have to guard him, too.
Ray

What’s the on Mavs interest in Clint Capela and/or Bojan Bogdanovich?
Dana Gauruder
1:57
They are reportedly interested in both players. A trade for Bogie, I believe, is more likely to happen. The Pistons added another vet wing in Joe Harris and drafted Ausar Thompson, who looks like he could develop into an ultimate glue guy. Mavs could certainly use another wing who can space the floor.
Go Cavs!
1:58
Who do you see the Cavs picking up before the season starts?
Dana Gauruder
1:59
Don't see them doing too much. Strus sign-and-trade will probably rank as their most significant move.
RB
1:59
The Wizards seem pretty imbalanced, with too many guards but not enough front court players. Are they done, or do you see them making another move?
Dana Gauruder
1:59
If they can pick up more assets (draft picks), they'll listen. They're in the early stages of a rebuild.
