Will dallas sign oubre jr. ?
Dana Gauruder
1:04
Oubre is one of the more prominent names left on the free agent market. Dallas has been mentioned as one of the teams interested in him. Cleveland had some interest but it appears to have cooled after acquiring Strus in a sign and trade. I'd say that the Mavs are most likely landing spot for Oubre but they'd like to clear some salary before making a free agent commitment. I also doubt Oubre will be able to match his 12-plus mill he's received the last couple of years.

Are the Hawks done making moves? Is Pascal Siakam a realistic option if they decide to make another move
Dana Gauruder
1:08
It's been a hot rumor for weeks and I suspect that one has legs. If Hawks are serious about being contenders, doesn't make sense for them to essentially dump Collins unless they were looking at an upgrade at that position. They can always plug in Bey there, though he's undersized for that spot, but I think something will get done with Toronto. Dallas is interested in getting involved as a third party with the hope of landing Capela. How the Hawks would fill the center spot if they traded Capela is another mystery but I don't think they're done making a move or two this summer.

How long is Harden going to be a Sixer, and who do I get back in return?
Dana Gauruder
1:11
It's turning an ugly divorce, from all indications. Harden declined his $46 mill option last summer and took a lesser salary to help the Sixers make moves. Now he feels the Sixers should commit to him long-term and Philly isn't inclined to do so (Harden opted in to his 2023/24 salary). As usual with a disgruntled star player, if they want to get traded, it inevitably happens. Just a matter of what kind of package they get back -- they don't want to regress and have Embiid asking for a trade next summer. So, the Sixers are in no rush to get this resolved but I don't see this going unresolved when camps open in September.

What trade value do the wizards young guys have? Strongly doubt Deni/Kispert/Davis figure into the long term future of the wizards
Dana Gauruder
1:14
Davis had such a forgettable rookie season that his trade value is minimal at this point. Avdija hasn't developed a consistent outside shot, which limits his value. Out of that trio, Kispert would have the most value if the Wizards decided to move him. Wings who can shoot 42 percent from 3, as he did last season, will always be in demand.

Do I get involved in the Heat/Portland/Lillard deal? Also what would I give up and get in return if so?
Dana Gauruder
1:18
The Thunder certainly doesn't need more draft picks. I believe they hold four first-rounders next year, among many others. If OKC decided to get really serious about contending, maybe they get involved if they valued a guy like Herro. I wouldn't put it past OKC to be a facilitator but they've got a nice young core already, so unless they see someone who can complement that group, I doubt they'd be the third team.

So with James Harden and Dame making their trade demands this summer and obviously Devin Booker is going to be fine in Phoenix for a while who do you think is going to be the next one to demand a trade? I would put money on KAT
Dana Gauruder
1:20
Perhaps, but Towns also has that hefty extension he signed last summer. The team trading for him would have to have the salary/assets to make it happen and the injury issues he's had would be a major concern for any potential suitors out there.

What were your impressions of Jordan Walsh during the summer league? I saw some people thought he was first time all summer league but then he still shot pretty badly percentage wise and I saw him get smoked easily off the dribble on a ton of occasions.
Dana Gauruder
1:26
I didn't get a chance to see any of the Celtics' Summer League games but I don't put too much stock into those contests. Those teams are basically slapped together with little practice time and after the first couple of games, most of guys on standard contracts sit out. As a 19-year-old second-round pick, I'm sure the plans for Walsh are to develop him in the G League for a year or two. Once he gets enough experience at that level, you can better judge how he might help the NBA club down the road.

I hate to ask this but right now as far as coaches are concerned who's coming into the season with a bit of a hot seat
Dana Gauruder
1:29
Wow, we're already on the "coaches who might get fired before the All-Star break" watch? You could look at Dallas, Chicago, Minnesota -- teams with some level of expectations coming off disappointing seasons -- and say Kidd, Donovan and Finch will all need their teams to get off to a good start.

Out of the lottery picks this year can you take a guess on one player that you can bet the house is going to be an All-Star and can you name one player potentially could be a bust
Dana Gauruder
1:35
Let's exclude VW because everyone expects him to be a superstar. I'll go with Scoot Henderson, simply because I anticipate Damian will get traded and he'll get an opportunity to be a starter from the opening bell. I'd hate to predict any of these lottery picks will completely tank but I was quite surprised Jett Howard went in the lottery. I wasn't blown away by his college performances and Orlando has such a glut of guards, I don't see how he'll get much PT.

If you were running this mid-season tournament what would you offer the winner a real life incentive for them to play hard for this tournament. I mean the money helps for the younger players but LeBron's not going to get happy over an extra whatever it is and I wouldn't do anything radical like whoever wins decides home court advantage
Dana Gauruder
1:39
There are a lot of questions as to how well this in-season tourney is going to work out. The league is looking for ways to spice up the regular season but like you, I'm skeptical. It will be overshadowed by the NFL, which will be hitting the homestretch at that point. And with the money these players make, the monetary incentives they have for the winners isn't all that noteworthy. I'm willing to give it a chance and perhaps some tweaks will make it more appealing but for now, I'm not particularly impressed with the format.

Is there any reason why Boston has an offered the extension to Jalen Brown yet. Is it a scenario where Boston is taking some pause paying $300 million to someone who is arguably the second best player on the team or is it something else
Dana Gauruder
1:42
As of now, there doesn't seem to be any disconnect between the parties. From what I saw, Brown went overseas for an NPBA event, which temporarily held up negotiations. They have plenty of time to come to an agreement and I anticipate it will happen.

Do you think Ohtani will get a higher AAV than the highest paid player in the NBA?
Dana Gauruder
1:44
I expect Ohtani to get at least $50 mill a year but these NBA extensions keep going up in value as the cap rises, so he might wind up with a higher AAV initially but some NBA players will exceed that amount in a few years.

It's quite a topic of conversation amongst GSW followers but I feel the Dubs will select the 14th standard contract in-house at this point: choosing from Quinones and others. What thinks you?
Dana Gauruder
1:46
I'm sure you saw that they added Jerome Robinson on a camp deal yesterday. It could very well turn into a training camp battle for the last spot but I still think they'd be better off fortifying their frontcourt depth.

Who ends up getting PJ Washington? Hope it’s the Pistons!
Dana Gauruder
1:49
Don't the Pistons have enough bigs than they know what to do with? They just signed Stewart to an extension and they still have Bagley, Livers, Duren, Wiseman. There's been talk that Washington might just accept the qualifying offer and become unrestricted next summer. I think he'll eventually stay put in Charlotte, perhaps finally work out an extension that's palatable to both sides.

Are you surprised Trendon Watford hasn't latched on with another team yet?
Dana Gauruder
1:52
Somewhat, considering his age and the fact he had some productive outings last season. Haven't had any buzz about where he might end up but I think he'll latch onto another team soon.
Lamar
1:52
Don't you think Lamar Stevens would be a great addition to many contender's at a very low cost?
Dana Gauruder
1:54
I don't know if he'd necessarily wind up with a contender but he's good enough to be on a 15-man roster somewhere.

Can Dallas put together a trade offer for Towns? Money wise Hardaway, Holmes, and Lively works. Plus throw in a couple 1st round picks? Dallas needs a big addition to show Luka they are serious about building a championship core.
Dana Gauruder
1:57
That would a pretty bold move by Dallas and perhaps not out of the question. Considering they reportedly are interested in a starting-level center (Capela) -- why not go for an even bigger fish? But they also rolled the dice on Porzingis and it didn't work out. As indicated above, Towns has a huge contract and an injury history. But certainly wouldn't discount any attempt by Cuban to make a big splash.

Hayes done in Detroit?
Dana Gauruder
1:59
Certainly seems that way. No incentive for the club to pursue an extension after they've drafted three guards in the first round the past three years. The addition of Monte Morris was even more telling, even if he's on an expiring deal. Don't see much playing time available for Hayes, unless injury issues crop up.

Why not trade pg and kawhi and start fresh to open the arena. After this year the clippers fall off the cliff may happen fast. Also is Jason preston a bust hes like a great PG from 2003 no real 2023 value
Dana Gauruder
2:00
They might trade Paul George if the right deal came along but the Clippers are not interested in a rebuild. Their owner wants to win now and I don't see that changing.
