I got the nuggets & soon to be winner Heat going 7 in the final ur thoughts?
Dana Gauruder
2:03
Connor -- These playoffs have been so unpredictable it's hard to say how the Finals will play out. I don't think we'll see a sweep -- these 2 teams are too tough-minded for that to happen. But it will be fascinating to see Joker, Murray and Co. vs. Butler, Bam and their overachieving role players. If the Heat complete the sweep tonight, it will be a long wait for those teams before the Finals start. Hopefully that won't negatively impact those teams.

Do the Rockets have 60% chance to land James Harden?
Dana Gauruder
2:04
From what I've heard and read, at least those odds, probably higher. I honestly don't know why Harden would ditch the MVP of the league to play with a rebuilding team, other than he just wants to live in Houston and has no real burning desire to win a title.

Knicks seem to be linked to everyone. What do you think is the mostly likely addition? KAT? Lillard?
Dana Gauruder
2:07
I'd love to see a Brunson-Lillard backcourt but at what cost? That's why I think it's more likely they pursue a Towns deal. The Timberwolves seem likely to do something big again this offseason and need to replenish assets after giving up so much in the Gobert deal. Trading Towns would seem like their best path to do that.

any reason for the Lakers to resign Russell if they can't do a S&T? Nuggets are amazing but think LA would have had a chance had someone knocked down outside shots regularly (Russell, Beasley e.g.).
Dana Gauruder
2:10
D'Angelo started off well in the postseason but what happened vs. the Nuggets is alarming. He was a total non-factor. That's been the issue with Russell throughout his career -- not consistent enough. I think the Lakers are more interested in getting Reaves and Hachimura re-signed and then figuring out the rest of the roster. Of course, everything changes if LeBron decides to retire.

With the Celtics offseason about to begin prematurely , what are some ways we could improve our roster through trade? Sign and trade Grant Williams? Use Gallo's salary and Pritchard along with future draft picks? Trade into the late first round for a versatile defensive minded 4?
Dana Gauruder
2:14
It'll be interesting to see how Stevens handles this situation. Many people, myself included, thought they had all the pieces necessary to win the championship. I like what Brogdon said the other day -- they lost their defensive identity and looked completely disorganized, not to mention outworked. Stevens has a hard decision to make regarding the coach -- bring in a respected vet to replace Mazzulla or be his lead assistant? From there, they've got to figure out where Jaylen Brown's head is at. Is he content being second fiddle there? If not, they could do something big this offseason. I also wonder why Smart hasn't had more of an impact -- Defensive Player of the Year last season. Sign and trade with Grant Williams might be the way to go if the price tag is too high.

Raptors and Portland are a trade match made in heaven. What is a fair draft day trade involving either OG or Pascal?  Both teams need this BTW...
Dana Gauruder
2:18
What are you expecting in return? I would think the No. 3 pick would be part of that package with either Simons or Sharpe coming back in return -- if the Raptors are expecting to lose FVV or Trent. I would think Pascal would bring back even more -- probably more picks. Certainly, I expect both franchises to be active and shake up their rosters this summer.

Who is the next Raptors coach to bring out the best in this roster to make a top 6 team in the east?
Dana Gauruder
2:22
They have interviewed a number of top assistants, but I'd be intrigued by Atkinson or Nash. I felt Atkinson got a raw deal with the Nets and he's been one of Kerr's top assistants. I didn't think about Nash until his name surfaced yesterday but it makes a lot of sense. He was a great low-key team leader as a player. He kind of got swallowed up by the superstars and big egos in Brooklyn but I think he'd be a much better fit in Toronto.

Will the Utah jazz make any trades this summer
Dana Gauruder
2:26
Absolutely. They've got 3 first-round picks -- I don't think they truly want to bring in that many rookies. They also have a few players who can opt out (Clarkson at the top of that list). They're going to have to make some changes, based on how many free agents they lose. I don't think you'll see a blockbuster like the 2 they had last summer but they won't be dormant.

Could Embiid be traded to Miami or NY this offseason?
Dana Gauruder
2:27
Trade the MVP of the league? Not unless he demands a trade and is willing to sit out until he gets one. I don't think it will come to that.

Do you think the firing of good head coaches after a "failed season" all comes back to Toronto and them firing Casey who had just had, don't quote me on this, the best regular season in franchise history, then subsequently hiring Nurse and winning a championship that next year? Did this trick organizations into not sticking with their guys or do you think it's something completely different?
Dana Gauruder
2:32
It's been like this for quite a while. Guys like Pops and Kerr are a huge exception to the rule. In Casey's case, the Raptors were frustrated that couldn't go over the hump in the playoffs, thanks to LeBron. But more organizations look at coaches as disposable -- it's more important to keep the franchise player and the stars happy than backing the coach. In terms of the Suns, that was more driven by the new owner. With the Raptors and Bucks, there was more of a disconnect between the coach and front office.

celtics extended Horford 2 yrs 18/20 per year. Based on what’s going on in playoffs, wan’t that rushed…will hamper ability to freshen roster.  Thanks!
Dana Gauruder
2:35
He had some big games in last year's playoffs. His contract was far from onerous, given the circumstances. He has one year and $9.5 mill left, not a big chunk of change in terms of the cap. It could be used in a trade if the Celtics decide to go in that direction.

Why do NBA teams always jump to the most extremes after being eliminated? Only ONE team wins the championship. Yet year in year out each fanbase and franchises jump the extremes. The Celtics have been to a finals and numerous ECF yet a lot of fans and media are saying trade Jaylen and fire the coach. It’s disgusting we let talking heads determine so much in the sports. Unless a JB for Luka deal can be made, who else would make a substantial return for a player of his talent and experience?
Dana Gauruder
2:41
In terms of Mazzulla, he's a young guy who was thrust into a very difficult situation through no fault of his own. He had no idea going into training camp he'd be the head coach. My gut feeling is they'll bring in a veteran assistant to help him out. Brown's situation is a little cloudy because he's entering his walk year. But your point is well-taken -- in the current climate with social media, endless sports talk shows, etc. -- there is way too much panic and not enough perspective. I think Denver proved to a lot of people that patience can be rewarded -- they stuck it out with Porter and Murray's injury issues, rather than revamping the roster. It has paid off big-time. And they stuck with their coach.

Seems silly, I know....but would the Spurs be interested in acquiring Gobert? Asking for a (not my) friend named Tim Connelly. (seriously though, they have to spend, and French people like French people)
Dana Gauruder
2:44
The Spurs have always been a haven for international players. Obviously, the No. 1 question there is whether Gobert would be a good fit next to VW. San Antonio does have quite a few extra first-rounders -- just not sure they want to cash them in for Gobert. I don't think his timeline fits with VW.

What to do???  Is going after Kyrie the answer?  DLo disappeared, Beasley ...  TThompson was useful.
Dana Gauruder
2:48
After what's happened in recent, I don't think going after Kyrie is ever the answer. That's especially true if LeBron is at least pondering retirement. There was a point in the season where it wasn't even certain if the Lakers would make the playoffs. I think Pelinka did an excellent job reworking the roster to get them into the conference finals. With so many of their players headed to free agency, there will be quite a few changes on the roster. But they simply ran into a better team in this postseason.

Morey said after the trade deadline, that he could've gotten a non-lottery 1st for PJ Tucker, do you think he actually has that value based on what we saw in the regular season and playoffs?
Dana Gauruder
2:51
I don't recall him saying that but I'll take your word for it. I don't think you can get a first-rounder for him, unless it's a heavily protected pick. He's 38 -- how many more years does he have left in the tank?

Who is the Pistons next coach?
Dana Gauruder
2:54
I have a 1 in 3 shot of getting this right, if Ollie, Lee and Collins are truly the finalists. I'm going to say Lee, considering he's been an assistant in a winning organization -- the organization that has consistently beaten up on the Pistons in the division in recent years. I'd be surprised if they picked Ollie, considering he's been out of the league for at least a decade.

A week+ of no basketball. What are you going to do?
Dana Gauruder
2:55
If Miami completes the sweep tonight, it will be a long wait. You know who'd I'd feel for more -- the beat writers for the Nuggets and Heat. They'll have to keep pumping out stories for a whole week with no games to talk about.

As Mavs fan I want to ask how valuable can the no 10 pick be in a trade? Can it bring a Myles Turner back?
Dana Gauruder
2:57
When the Pacers did that extension, their stated intention was to retain Turner. I don't think they'd give him up that quickly, unless the got an overwhelming offer. I don't think a trade package based around a No. 10 pick would get the job done.

Will we ever see a team come back from a 3-0? Optimistic Celtics fan but we have seen 3-1s overcome, 16 seeds winning…
Dana Gauruder
2:59
It's interesting that it's never happened in the NBA. You'd think it would have happened at least once by now. If the Celtics lost by a slim margin on Sunday, maybe you'd think they could suddenly catch fire and turn it around. But there was nothing about that game that suggested they can beat Miami four times in a row.

If Harden leaves, would a DeRozan trade make sense for Philly?
Dana Gauruder
3:00
Perhaps. What could you give up to make Chicago want to make that deal? I would think there would have to be a third team involved to get them interested.
