Embiid is one of those players who you can't really trade and get back fair value for. So how do the Sixers move on from here? The current system can't work, and he can't win in the playoffs. This isn't the first time he's choked in the clutch, just the worst.
Dana Gauruder
2:36
If Embiid demands a trade or you try to trade him, you're looking at another five-year rebuild. He was the MVP of the league, you want to lose that? I would think he'll have some input in who they hire as a coach but bottom line is the Sixers are need Embiid or "The Process" is a complete failure.

with all the failures of Doc as a coach i think his time being a coach of contending or high caliber roster teams is done. From now on he should be coaching mediocre or young teams. Would you agree?
Dana Gauruder
2:37
Coaches get recycled all the time, so the vets like Rivers always seem to find another opportunity (like D'Antoni for example). I think Doc should go back to TV -- he was really good at it back in the day. Maybe he can swap places for Mark Jackson?

Is Anthony Davis the best matchup for Jokic? Joker is a dominant scorer in the postseason, can just take over games. But AD is the best defender in the NBA. This series will be interesting.
Dana Gauruder
2:39
I would think he'll be the primary defender, unless he consistently gets into foul trouble. But as good a defender as Davis is, you can't stop Jokic with 1 guy. They'll throw all kinds of coverages at him but it will be a constant chess match in a best-of-7 series that could go the distance.

KAT needs to be traded to recoup draft assets correct ???    I personally cannot see the Wolves winning anything with him .     He’s soft mentally and physically and all these years in he still whines like a child after ever non call ( in his opinion- non call ) Gobert has been exposed ALREADY in the decline and will not get us much in trade.     How in the hell did he go from DPOTY talk to receiving not one vote?    I swear to god MN fans are cursed .
Dana Gauruder

KAT's injury issues are a major concern. FYI -- he can't be traded until July 7 (though an agreement could be reached prior to that date). Since he's entering his walk year, the Timberwolves are at a crossroads. Either stick with him and hope he overcomes his ailment or sell him to the highest bidder. Know this -- A-Rod and his partner don't want any part of rebuild. So they'd have to get some solid young players for him.

If the magic stay put after the lottery with pick 6 and 11, who do you think they will select within reason?
Dana Gauruder
2:45
I'm sure you've looked at the mock draft and some of the guys who are projected to go in those areas. Once you get past VW, Henderson and (probably) Miller, it's pretty wide open as to who will go with the next few picks. You have to like their forward combo, so they'll probably be looking for another backcourt option. Perhaps they try to move up with those two picks as bait? They'll have some options with 2 lottery picks.

Ayton for Poole?  Who says No? Ayton give warriors big man they need and Poole gives Suns the young PG they need.
Dana Gauruder
2:47
Would be interesting swap, wouldn't you say? Despite matching the Pacers offer, the Suns aren't sold on Ayton long term. And that Poole extension has to give the Warriors pause, considering his playoff struggles. It won't happen before July do to poison pill restrictions. I guess it's just a matter of whether the Warriors want to deal one big salary for another, considering their obligations. And Draymond's decision also plays a factor in it.

What do you believe would be the splashiest hire I could make besides Lue withstanding
Dana Gauruder
2:50
Tom Izzo? Kidding, I don't think Izzo wants any part of an NBA job at his age. Probably Nurse, given he's won a championship recently. I guess you can throw Budenholzer in there but I just don't get the sense they're seriously interested in him. Speaking of that job, Monty is going to be collecting an awful nice paycheck for the next few years.

If the Knicks want to move on from Julius Randle, who do they get instead? And for how much? S&T Kuzma for Barrett+?
Dana Gauruder
2:54
Randle is a pretty tough guy and was well below 100 percent in the playoffs due to that ankle. That being said, if the Knicks can get Towns with Randle as part of the package, I'd do it. If KAT is healthy, I think he's simply better than Randle. If it doesn't work, you've got a big salary off the books. Kuzma for Barrett would be an interesting swap for both sides -- not sure how much it helps either side. Kuzma is probably more of a natural scorer and would take some pressure off Brunson but not much of a 3-point shooter. Barrett had his ups and downs in playoffs but for Wizards, that would be better than losing Kuzma for nothing.

I have nuggets Celtics going to 7? What is ur prediction? Can we have a poll?
Dana Gauruder
2:57
We are running a poll for the EC Finals today. I'm sure we will have a poll once the Finals matchup is set. I have been saying all along it would be Celtics-Nuggets in the Finals. Lakers have looked great but I'm not wavering from my prediction. I like the Celtics over the Nuggets in 7. It would fascinating to see how the Celtics would try to corral Jokic, and how the Nuggets would try to defend Tatum/Brown. But we're getting ahead of ourselves.

I’m gonna trade demar and Vuc for cp3 and Ayton aren’t I? Obvious auxiliary pieces involved but this will get fans back to spending money and that’s all I care about, I should sell the team if I respected Chicago
Dana Gauruder
3:00
Can't do that unless you sign-and-trade Vucevic. Would be an interesting move for both sides -- the Suns would have quite an array of offensive options. For Chicago, kind of an all in move with the hope you can squeeze one more good year out of CP.

Has Marcus Sasser shown enough so far to be drafted in the first round and what combine players are rising the fastest and are you hearing might be  drafted higher then expected? Thanks love the content you all provide.
Dana Gauruder
3:04
Sasser is projected right around the last few picks of the first or early second. Still too early in the combine to say who's moving up or down. I think when the smoke clears in Chicago, we'll get a better sense who's making that type of jump up the draft boards. I like Sasser a lot -- I think that groin injury limited him more than people realize in the postseason. Houston was a juggernaut when he was healthy.

If the rockets don't get scoot, who are some good points guards we could possibly trade for. We have some good assets. But lack a Caruso Van fleet.
Dana Gauruder
3:06
A lot depends on whether these Harden rumors are true, correct? If not, VanVleet would be an interesting free agent option with Udoka as the coach.

If the Mavericks somehow get the #1 pick tonight, should they trade it for let's say Jaylen Brown or do they keep it and draft Wemby?
Dana Gauruder
3:09
If anybody who gets the No. 1 pick this year trades it away, the GM would be committing career suicide. He's the best prospect to come along since LeBron, if you buy into the hype, as pretty much everybody does.

Top 3 NBA records since 20-21 season are Phoenix, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia. All 3 coaches fired. What is your take on this trend? Who gets these 3 jobs?
Dana Gauruder
3:13
The 'what have you done for me lately' attitude has been prevalent in pro sports for many years. Remember when the Raptors fired Dwane Casey right after he won Coach of the Year? Obviously, different circumstances in each case you mentioned above. I would be surprised if Phoenix or Philly hired anyone but a proven head coach. They're both desperate to win a championship, or at least get to the Finals. I think the Bucks job is a little more wide open and they might hire a top assistant, such as Charles Lee or Kevin Young.

Regardless of how they finish,  what does LAL do in off season, try to keep core or add couple of bigs?

Who does the NBA want Wembanyama to end up with? We will see if you are right?
Dana Gauruder
3:19
Personally, I'd like to see Detroit get him and watch that young core grow. He'd be a fascinating fit for the Pacers with Haliburton, and from a marketing standpoint I'm sure the league wouldn't mind him landing in Chicago or Dallas. Bottom line with VW -- he changes the fortunes of any franchise and the winner will build around him.

Crazy to still think Kuminga ceiling is Kawhi??
Dana Gauruder
3:22
What has he shown over his first 2 seasons to think he'll turn into an All-Star and a guy who can carry a team to a championship? I think the Warriors would be happy to see Draymond opt out and go elsewhere if they could just plug in Kuminga and get the same results. Kuminga can grow into a very good player but Kawhi is a pretty high bar.

I didn't say I wanted to trade Embiid. I was asking how the Sixers move forward knowing that they can't win as currently constructed, and saying that obviously Embiid can't be traded as part of that. What sort of moves do they make to try and build around or unlock Embiid for the playoffs?
Dana Gauruder
3:24
I like Maxey. I think the Sixers have a building block there. Tobias is entering the last year of his deal, so if they could a team looking for cap relief, that would help the bottom line long term. But a lot of the offseason hinges on what Harden does, right? If he wants out, do you pursue a sign-and-trade with that team or use the cap room elsewhere? And I think you'd agree their bench is underwhelming. That has to be restructured and the Lakers proved you can do that even with some salary restraints.
Tank Commander
3:25
This question would be easy to say Pels or Thunder if we include all lottery team, so sticking to the top 3 at even/best odds. Which of Detroit, San Antonio, or Houston gets the closest to being an immediately relevant team, i.e making the play-in by adding Wemby, and how quickly does it happen?
Dana Gauruder
3:26
Out of that trio, I'd say Detroit. The Pistons were in tank mode once Cade went down early with that shin injury. A core group of VW, Duren, Ivey and Cade looks pretty good to me. Houston could come fairly close, too, with Green and Smith as the other major pieces. I think San Antonio is further away from relevance but he'd certainly benefit from having a Hall of Fame coach to help him make the transition to the NBA.
