The "new look" Nets have significant depth after the trades of KD and Kyrle. How do you see Jacque Vaughn setting the rotation? It's early, but right now it seems there are not enough minutes for everyone.
Dana Gauruder
2:04
Tell you what, I don't think Jacque Vaughn is quite sure how to fit all the pieces. They've cornered the market on forwards, wouldn't you say? Even he admitted, for example, he's not sure how to use Simmons with the current personnel he's got. There's not a big gap in talent between the first and second unit. The Nets are still in good position to hang onto a top 6 spot if Vaughn can make the right moves. But truly, few coaches in NBA history have needed to shift gears as quickly as he does with the all the changes.

Do you think there will be any additional compensation given to the Dubs for the GP trade?
Dana Gauruder
2:05
If the league deems that the Suns withheld pertinent information, then I do think they'll be penalized. I don't think they'll given up a player on the 15-man but perhaps some draft pick compensation.

My prediction is that Darvin Ham will get fired after this season. He looks totally overmatched in tactical games and relies heavily on his stars to just carry the team. Thoughts?
Dana Gauruder
2:09
Unless LeBron and AD feels Darvin is overmatched and demand a change, I don't think he'll lose his job. He's a first year coach thrown into a difficult spot. He had to deal with the Westbrook situation, AD got hurt and LeBron has also dealt with some injuries. The roster was kind of a mish-mosh because the front office was hamstrung by bad decisions in previous years. I think they've upgraded the roster over the past month but it will take some time to develop some chemistry. I think you've got to give Ham at least another year to fairly evaluate his skills as a head coach.

Any more buyout candidates looking to come to the Suns fater Ross? Maybe Barton?
Dana Gauruder
2:12
They'll still have another roster spot available even when they bring in Ross. They don't necessarily have to fill it but I'm sure they'll look at other buyout option. Certainly, Barton would be a consideration but will he get sufficient PT if they're already bringing in another wing? These buyout signings are a two-way street.
Pistons Bigs
2:12
So are the Pistons going to play 5 Bigs on the Court at once?  Duren, Stewart, Bagley, Wiseman, Nerlens, etc.  Everyone else is going Small, they are going Big ?  Seems they are over-loading to compete with the Cavaliers ?
Dana Gauruder
2:16
Just think if they win the Wembanyama sweepstakes! My sense is they're essentially taking a flyer on Wiseman, seeing if they can maximize his talent in a lower pressure environment. In short term, he'll back up Duren while Bagley, when he comes back, will back up Stewart. I'm skeptical Stewart is in their long term plans. Trading Bey was more of an admission that he's going to be a role player much of his career. I think you'll see the Pistons look for an upgrade at the wing in the offseason, unless they're sold on Hamidou playing heavy minutes.

So, if Kevon Looney gets Injured, the Warriors tallest player will be 6-7 ..... Umm, who is going to guard KD, Ayton, Joker, or AD in the Playoffs ?   Can't guard those guys with Midgets .........
Dana Gauruder
2:18
They got by with Looney playing the middle last season during the playoffs. I guess they're pinning their hopes on small ball. But the way this season has played out so far for the Warriors, I don't think they'll go far in the postseason even if they sign another big man.

The Hawks win one game lose one game. Is this a chemistry or a coaching issue? Trae Young seems out of sorts. Am I wrong in my assessment?
Dana Gauruder
2:23
Though 58 games, they're a .500 team, so your assessment is correct. They have been one of the league's biggest disappointments. You're not going to hire an outside guy at this stage of the season if they decide to replace Nate, so the front office would have to believe one of the assistants could squeeze more out of the roster than he has. I think Trae has been a disappointment this year -- the combination of him and Dejounte should be much more lethal than they've shown. I would not be shocked if one of them gets dealt this offseason if they flame out in the postseason.
Bulls
2:23
I was at the game last night, 3/21 from three, abysmal, picking between Zach and Demar and trading 1 has to be AKME first move this offseason right? We have zero life at any point in games
Dana Gauruder
2:26
Speaking of disappointing teams...they're a mess and DeMar disclosed this week he's been dealing with a nagging injury. Goran admitted the team needs a starting PG. Of course, they have one of those but he hasn't played since last January. They're a mess and I don't think they'll even make it into the play-in tourney at this stage. Expect plenty of changes this offseason.

When will Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon be available?
Dana Gauruder
2:28
Murray will be reevaluated once the team returns from the AS break. Gordon has a rib contusion -- he was originally listed as questionable on Monday but didn't play. Since they only have one game left until the break, I'd guess they'll hold him out tomorrow and he'll return to action right after the break.

If you had to guess how many seasons do the following players have before retirement, Lowry, cp3,lebron,kd ?
Dana Gauruder
2:31
If I had to make an educated guess who's closest to retiring, I'd say Lowry. Knee injuries don't easily go away at that stage of your career. I think Paul will hang in a couple more years, especially now that the Suns are taking an "all in" approach. LeBron, of course, wants to play with his son and KD is still enormously effective when he's on the court. He just signed that big extension, so I think he'll be around another 4 or 5 years.
Velociraptor
2:31
Do you think the Raptors keep all three of Poeltl, Trent, and VanVleet this summer? If not, who do you think is the most likely to leave?
Dana Gauruder
2:35
First off, I don't think they brought back Jakob as a rental. They were pretty overt that the move was made to shore up the middle beyond this season. As for the two guards, it's more a question of what the market is for those players. I don't think they'll sign both -- if the market doesn't go bonkers for Trent, I think they'll retain him and looking for a somewhat cheaper option at the point.
Tristan Tucker
2:36
Who are some names you think the Hornets and Rockets target? Two open roster spaces for each by my count. Which reclamation young guys are out there that make sense?
Dana Gauruder
2:38
They can't go with 13 players on the 15-man for long, so they'll each have to sign at least one player. I don't think they'll looking at any buyout candidates. They'll evaluate some younger players, perhaps signing someone who's excelled in the G League.
Bucks
2:38
Patrick Beverley to bucks dose this make sense and does it happen
Dana Gauruder
2:41
The Clippers have been mentioned as a possible destination but the Bucks need to fill at least one roster spot. Adding Beverley would certainly make some sense as a vet backup option behind Jrue. Can't read Beverley to determine what he's thinking but the Bucks would be high on the list among possible landing spots.

Do you see lillard being traded this summer? Which teams would make sense for him?
Dana Gauruder
2:43
Lillard will only get dealt if he demands a trade. It's never come to that point with him. He has input on any moves the front office makes, so if there are shortcomings he's partially to blame. I think he'll stay put, they'll re-sign Grant and they'll look for ways to shore up the rest of the roster.
Tucker
2:44
Any surprise on the 3 point contest?
Dana Gauruder
2:46
As to who's in it or who's going to win it? Without Steph, it's not quite the same. I believe Hield won it a few years back, so I'd call him the favorite in this field.
Alan
2:46
Would Kylie stay with the Mavs past this year or take less money to join the Lakers next year?
Dana Gauruder
2:48
He forced a trade because the Nets wouldn't give him the kind of money he wanted. I don't think he's taking a discount to play anywhere. The Lakers won't be able to offer anything more than a mid-level exception -- I'd be shocked if he agreed to that type of pay cut.
G.P.
2:48
Where do you think Pat Bev and Russ ultimately end up?
Dana Gauruder
2:50
We talked about Beverley a few minutes ago. As for Russell, I think the Clippers would make more sense than them signing Beverley. He's got a history with Paul George and he wouldn't have to move anywhere. Last I saw, he was going to take his time deciding what to do, but I can't see Russ suiting up for the Jazz even if they're willing to give him some PT.
Jeff
2:51
Does the recent trade of James Wiseman and lack of development of Moses Moody kind of point to the two timeline not really working for a contending team since the younger players can't get court time and they become free agents and expensive long before they actually developed into rotational players. James Wiseman since he did not play in college and got hurt was an extreme example but it seems that drafting younger players is very difficult to integrate into a playoff contenders rotation.
Dana Gauruder
2:55
You have to take everything on a case-to-case basis. But generally, it's easier for a high draft pick to develop and work through his mistakes on a non-contender. If Golden State had the second pick in 2021 instead of 2020 and took Evan Mobley, I don't think Mobley would have struggled like Wiseman did.
Jamal
2:56
Why haven’t the Utah jazz investing more into their younger talent. It seems like they are trying to win games which they are not
Dana Gauruder
2:58
Lauri is still in the early stages of his career and he's blossomed there. Kessler has been a find. And they're heavily invested in getting the best young talent. They've got a treasure trove of future first-rounders. The Jazz deemed the Mitchell-Gobert era was never going to produce a championship and their long-term plan to become a title contender in future is sound.

Do you see LaMelo leaving the hornets the 1st time he can?🏀.
Dana Gauruder

If they continue to wallow in the bottom of the standings next season, I would think he'd want to leave.
