Me and a friend were discussing who you’d rather start a franchise with today.  Zion or Paolo?  Thoughts?
Dana Gauruder
12:33
Interesting question. If you're talking about pure talent -- potential dominance -- then you'd take Zion. However, at this point I think you'd have to go with Paolo. Zion's career has been marred by injuries and questions about his desire and makeup. The fact that people are once again questioning his weight/diet shows that he's not fully committed to living up to his talent. Paolo was actually a surprise pick at No. 1 and he's delivered. I want my superstars to be self motivated and team leaders. Paolo, from what I've seen, fits the bill.

Hi what are the Hawks going to do with AJ Griffin it seems like the team is definitely needs some kind of jump start to get things going in the right direction

Following up on the Duke theme! His PT/role has been completely diminished with Snyder in charge. He's performed poorly in recent games, so I don't see them expanding his playing time in the near future. Perhaps with an injury or two at his spot, he'll get a chance to prove himself. Right now, I don't see him having much value on the trade market. They already picked up his option for next season, so that doesn't come into play.

Wouldn't want to mess with the team chemistry, but if the Wolves don't win a couple playoff series is there a path to moving KAT to the Clippers for Kawhi? Same general salary levels(even with a new deal for Y). That's an elite level defensive team and arguably a better rebounding and more efficient squad. Thoughts on the idea and how it could happen. Thanks.

That would be a pretty radical move for both franchises. Leonard has a player option, so he could turn into a rental if he was traded. Remember, he left Toronto right after he led the Raps to a title. As for fit, yeah, I think he'd fit really well into their lineup. Towns would give Clips a quality big. I don't think it's a bad idea for either side but I'd be surprised if it happened. Rarely do you see All-Star talents traded for each other.

Do the Bucks have any assets left to acquire P.J. Tucker? Seems like he is what Milwaukee needs.
Dana Gauruder
12:46
He's making 11 mill -- Tucker hasn't played much lately and the Clippers would be willing to move him. His salary would match up fairly closely to Connaughton -- I don't know if the Bucks would do that. That could cobble up some of their other lower salaries as an alternative. Definitely not out of the question.

The constant parade of injuries to the Suns roster (including those not part of the big 3) makes it’s impossible to develop any kind of consistency or find working combinations. What are the chances that Phoenix can develop a sustainable lineup going forward? And if they do, how low will their conference seed drop until they figure it out? The team seems jinxed since Ishbia purchased them.
Dana Gauruder
12:48
Well, still 3/4 of the season left and Beal is expected to return this week. We might finally see those 3 guys play together on a regular basis. If you've got Booker, KD and Beal out there, even two of them, they'll win enough games to finish in the top six. It's nice to be the No. 1 or 2 seed but by no means does that guarantee you anything. Miami proved that in the East last season.

Can Isiah sustain starter’s minutes until MitchRob is back? Or will Tom torture us with a 20-20 split w Jericho Sims or some other deal?
Dana Gauruder
12:51
Seems like Robinson missing a chunk of time every season. For now, I don't see any alternative other than having Hartenstein and Sims splitting time. They could go small with Randle at C but I don't think that would work defensively. Only alternative would be to pursue a deal for another big -- maybe that's how they'll finally deal Fournier.
Atlanta fish smell
12:51
I just saw where M Robinson is out for awhile could Atlanta trade Capela to the Knicks and finally turn the reins over to Okongwu. The Hawks need to shake up something. Getting Jalen Johnson back would help.
Dana Gauruder
12:52
There you go. Maybe the Knicks and Hawks can figure something out.

Why have Davion Mitchell's minutes been up and down for the Kings? Could he be a trade candidate if the Kings are looking to upgrade and it doesn't change Keon Ellis is ahead of him in the backcourt?
Dana Gauruder
12:54
You're right, his minutes have been spotty lately. I think there would be quite a few teams interested in Mitchell if the Kings made him available. I doubt they
would trade him straight up. Probably would be included in a larger blockbuster deal.

Curious to get your take on Steve Kerr’s insistence on playing small ball with Team USA and the Warriors.  To me, he believes that it’s the best way to win and he is all in on that strategy but I just don’t see it in the results.  I think some of these guys with the genius tag feel like they have to outsmart everyone by doing it differently and their previous success turns out to be the result of other factors like having Steph Curry and Kevin Durant…

A lot of it is roster based. Looney is the only close to resembling a center and he's only 6-9 himself. Saric and Kuminga are their 2 main frontcourt players off the bench and they're both really PFs. But that was a front office decision to target Saric in free agency. They seem to feel comfortable going small because it's worked in the past. Plus, trying to give Paul enough minutes (when healthy). Their biggest issue right now is finishing. Blowing too many games late.

So how would you Make any changes to the in season tournament if any
Dana Gauruder
1:01
Point differential as a tiebreaker might have to be tweaked. I would move it closer to the holidays or to January. I guess overall, the league was pleased with it. It may have captured the imagination of some fans but I don't think the general public paid that much attention to it. It's still football season.

Now that the 15th is in a few days,   do you think we'll see some trades now or  closer to the trade dradline
Dana Gauruder
1:04
Without a doubt, nearly all deals before the deadline will happen in late January and February. Just because more players are eligible to be dealt later this week doesn't mean we'll see a flurry of activity. There's just no sense of urgency in most organizations to get something done at this point.

Will hornets add @ deadline? Or make no moves in ur opinion thanks for doing this 👍🏻
Dana Gauruder
1:06
Let's see where they are closer to deadline. LaMelo is still a few weeks away from returning. If they have a good shot at the play-in tournament, maybe they're buyers. If not, you could see them moving a player like Rozier and getting some assets.

In your opinion, is Zach really hurt? Or is it a scenario where the bulls are holding him  out for a trade deal
Dana Gauruder
1:09
Interesting observation. The Bulls have played better without him. Here's the thing -- how does it help his trade value by sitting him? There was a national report recently, I believe it was Woj, who said there's really no market for him right now due to his contract, health issues, etc. I don't know how sitting him intentionally would improve that market.

1:09
who is the biggest name that you think will be traded at the deadline? LaVine? One of the guys in Toronto? Others?
Dana Gauruder
1:11
Shams wrote today that Siakam was the big name most likely to be moved. He qualified it by saying the Raps will probably slow play it and hope the offers go up. I have to believe the Raptors and Bulls will wind up as sellers. DeRozan more likely to go that Zach.

Of these 3 teams who I really think it's a star away from really doing it some damage. Which one of the three young teams should go all in now and get a star now.  Orlando OKC or Indiana.  I'm picking Indiana. If they can get Pascal I think they can do some damage
Dana Gauruder
1:14
I think their No. 1 issue right now is defense. They put up points in bunches but in playoffs, you need to clamp down and get stops. So, not sure if Siakam would fit the bill for them. Anunoby might actually be the better target if they make a swap with Toronto. I think Orlando would be more likely to get something done. Perhaps they trade some of the excess young guards they have for a veteran floor leader and/or fortify their bench.

these lavine sixers/ lakers rumors won’t go away. Why would anyone want that contract…
Dana Gauruder
1:15
Agreed. I don't see the need for either of those teams to make that move.

Long term choice - Devin Vassell or Moses Moody?
Dana Gauruder
1:16
I think I'd go with Vassell, though we really haven't seen how Moody would perform with 30-35 minutes of PT on a regular basis.

Clippers rolling. Will it last?
Dana Gauruder
1:19
They should make the playoffs with that roster but the competition for seedings will be fierce. Obviously the key is Kawhi staying healthy. He showed the other day with his 41 point outing that he's still a force when he's feeling good.

What would it take for the Bulls to trade for Austin Reeves?
Dana Gauruder
1:21
I don't know if you could call Reaves untouchable but I doubt the Lakers would want anyone that badly on the Bulls' roster to give him up. Even if they felt DeRozan would help them, for example, they won't give up a quality young player like that for a rental.

Does winning the in season tourney actually mean anything towards lebrons legacy?
