Do you expect Miles Bridges to return to action with Charlotte in November?
Dana Gauruder
12:02
I don't expect him to return at all this season. I don't see how the league/Hornets can allow him to play until the latest court issues are resolved one way or another.

Given how he played during the preseason & given the Warriors’ otherwise lack of athleticism, how does Golden State keep Kuminga out of the starting lineup?
Dana Gauruder
12:05
So you're going with a Draymond/Kuminga frontcourt to start? My expectation was that the starting lineup issue involving Paul or Looney. If Green remains out to start the season, then Kuminga would be the logical choice to replace him. Once Draymond's back, I see Kuminga coming off the bench. But he should get plenty of PT this season.

Out of all the contract extensions signed over this weekend and today who will win the most improved player award?
Dana Gauruder
12:07
I don't know if a contract extension necessarily translates to a MIP. I'd look more toward a second- or third-year player who makes a leap -- guys like Jabari Smith, Mathurin, Sharpe, Sochan, Braun, etc.

What is Ja Morant’s mental (and physical) status at this moment in time, given his forthcoming suspension?
Dana Gauruder
12:10
Can't probe Morant's mind but I can say the NBA doesn't plan on shortening or lengthening the suspension. We'll know more about his physical status as the end of the suspension nears. I did find the ESPN story on Morant fascinating -- how there were no red flags about him before the draft and then things fell apart afterward. Let's hope he channels his energy and life in a positive fashion from now on. Great player, hope all that talent doesn't go to waste.

Which one from the 2020 draft class is gonna get a rookie scale extension?
Dana Gauruder
12:13
I'm assuming you mean guys who haven't already signed or agreed to one. I could see Green, Achiuwa, McDaniels and Quickley in that mix. Of course, Maxey will eventually get one but they're waiting until next offseason for cap purposes.

With the western conference so stacked, who do you expect to miss the play-in?
Dana Gauruder
12:16
That's a real tough one. Spurs and Blazers are the only one I'd pick with confidence. Don't trust the Rockets or Mavs, either. Beyond that, probably comes down to which star or stars wind up with a long-term injury.

What’s the plan for the 76ers if James Harden continues to act out? Are they content with leaving him at home until a trade becomes viable?
Dana Gauruder
12:18
At this point, I think they'd prefer it. Less drama that way. If I were Morey, I'd accept the latest Clippers offer and be done with it. But he seems intent on getting a better offer down the road.

Could you see the Lakers trade for james harden? Would you trade d angelo Russell and rui for harden? Could you see the Lakers trade for jerami grant?
Dana Gauruder
12:20
Would they be better off with Harden than Russell, Vincent, Reaves and younger backups? I don't think so. Plus, after getting burned by the Westbrook trade, I doubt Pelinka would make the same mistake. A trade for Grant might be a little more feasible, but I see Grant as more of a 4 these days, so I don't know if he'd be a great fit unless AD or LeBron are sidelined for a period of time.

Do you think the Clippers extend Mann to definitively take him off the board in trade talks and force the Sixers to accept their offer or move on?
Dana Gauruder
12:23
They don't have to extend him now and Mann has said publicly he won't sign one before the season. His contract runs through next season and he could probably get a  very solid extension next summer. He's such a versatile player, I could see why the Clippers are reluctant to trade him.

Why is Manfred protecting A's owner Fisher to move the A's out of Oakland when there is a billionaire with a history of being  agreat owned that wants to by the A's? No relocation fee seems like Manfred is a Vegas fan.

Since klay Thompson is going to become a free agent and which teams do you see him landing spot?
Dana Gauruder
12:26
There's still plenty of time for Klay to sign an extension and things can change on that front. If he becomes a free agent next summer, wouldn't he be a great fit with Sixers as an outside threat for Maxey/Embiid? How about the Knicks -- more star power that way, plus all the championship experience? Those are just a couple off the top of my head who'd be interested.

Svi Mikhaliouk will be waived from Celtics?
Dana Gauruder
12:28
Haven't heard anything to that end. Last I heard, he was more likely to claim a rotation spot. Teams are still finalizing their rosters today.

With KPJs trade proving, anyone can be traded, do you think the Hornets look to dump Bridges?  Esp in light of the recent news and Kai Jones fiasco.  The Trailblazers are in a pseudo rebuild, would a package of Martin, Bouknight, Bridges and picks work for a Anfernee Simons by the deadline?  Hornets don't attract FAs and the draft is hit or miss.  Blazers clear future salary, get a nice role player in Martin, when healthy, and accumulate more draft assets.  They'd cut or move Bridges again.
Dana Gauruder
12:30
Bridges is not eligible to be traded to mid-December. He's making less than $8MM and on an expiring contract, so I don't know if they'd make a salary dump simply with his contract. Perhaps as part of bigger deal but again, can't happen for nearly 2 months.

12:31
If the Bulls are intent on competing with this roster, do you see them moving Lonzo by the deadline?  They have White, Ayo, Caruso, Carter and LaVine all capable of handling point guard duties by committee.
Dana Gauruder
12:33
Perhaps, but realize that Lonzo has a $21.4MM opt in for next season. He's not going to leave that money on the table after not playing for 1 1/2 seasons. So if they are buyers at the deadline, they'd have to take a player who's signed on a longer term contact.

In a points league where should Wemby be selected ? I think Pop may limit his minutes & overall games.
Dana Gauruder
12:35
I think you are right that VW will get some games off. I don't play fantasy basketball, but I'd projected he'll average somewhere around 18 a game.

12:35
How do you think the Grizzlies react to the Adams injury? Biyombo? Try to pull off a trade for someone who fits better long term? Hope that somehow JJJ, Tillman, Aldama, and Lofton can make it work and get some of the rebounding from guys like Konchar?
Dana Gauruder
12:37
I think you'll see Jackson play quite a bit at the 5, at least to start the season, even though that didn't go so well in the FIBA World Cup. The others that you mentioned will get opportunities but more likely, the Grizzlies will be exploring trade possibilities for an established big man.

12:38
So what role do you forecast for Thompson down in Houston? Is he going to be the backup three the backup one or how's it going to be utilized
Dana Gauruder
12:40
With Brooks, Whitmore and Bullock as options at SF, I see Thompson backing up FVV and Green. I think you'd want to utilize his ballhandling skills in that manner.
KJ
12:41
So there is a rumor going around that Patrick Williams of the Bulls want a 200 million rookie extension. Unless he averages something like 20 and 20 and 10 this season I think the most he's going to get is a four year 55 mil what do you think
Dana Gauruder
12:43
Zach Lowe reported in his latest pod that he was looking for Vassell type extension numbers (five years, $135MM). That's a pipe dream. Williams is still in the "prove it" stage of his career. The Bulls can make him an RFA next summer and go from there.

Do we expect the 76ers to make a guaranteed contract cut by the deadline tonight? If so could Korkmaz be a likely candidate to be cut?
Dana Gauruder
12:44
If they shed a fully guaranteed deal, it'll be either Korkmaz or Harrell. You'd think the latter, since he's out for the season.

When players are signed to exhibitions 10 contracts and then waived do they have to go to the team g league or could they choose to go overseas?
Dana Gauruder
12:46
They can pretty much do whatever they want after clearing waivers. The Exhibit 10 language is designed to give players a bonus up to $75K if they sign with the G League team from the NBA team that waived them, then stay with that G League team for 60 or more days. Basically, it gives that player some incentive to sign with that particular G League club. But they're free to do whatever they want.
