Lots of early questions today. I'll get through as many as I can starting in just a minute! Sorting through them now.
Some Guy
12:16
Is Pascal Siakam really only worth three picks and whatever it takes to salary match? Because that seems low to me.
Luke Adams
12:17
It's always hard to evaluate these "Player X is worth this many picks + players" rumors, because the value of draft picks is so different depending on which teams they're coming from, what (if any) protections are on them, and what years they're for. The same goes for salary-matching pieces. In one sense, guys like Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt were salary-matching pieces in the Rudy Gobert trade, but they've obviously proven to have a lot of value on their own.
12:18
This is a roundabout way to answer, but I think if the Raptors could get three unprotected future first-round picks for Siakam from a team whose future success isn't totally assured, that'd be a strong haul, regardless of the players coming back.

What could the Sixers realistically, what could the sixers get for Thybulle? A few 2nds? Maybe a cheap role player??
Luke Adams
12:19
Yeah, I'd be surprised if they were able to get more for him than what the Wizards got for Hachimura.

What are the Hornets waiting for?  They need to play youth and move Plumlee, Rozier, Oubre (injury might have to wait until very end of trade deadline).  Will Hayward become a buyout candidate (would he give up money to get out of Charlotte because nobody wants that contract?)
Luke Adams
12:21
No need to rush a move with 2+ weeks left until the deadline -- might as well see if you can start a bidding war for one or two of those guys and get a little more than what's being offered right now. If we get through the deadline and they haven't done anything major, it's fair to criticize them for their inactivity, but most major deals don't happen until the week leading up to the deadline.

Just curious how my value is perceived across the NBA
Luke Adams
12:23
I would guess it's pretty neutral right now, leaning more toward positive than negative. Your salary is about as high as it can get for a player on a rookie contract and you still haven't had an extended stretch of two-way effectiveness since arriving in the NBA. There will be some teams that still like the upside, but I doubt the Warriors would be able to get an impact player for you unless they package you with another asset.

From the email earlier: "Hoops Rumors is hosting a live chat today at 1:15 pm Central time (12:15 pm Eastern)."

Time flub! 1:15 Eastern
Luke Adams
12:24
Sorry about that! Honestly, I'm surprised we don't make time-related mistakes more often given that the site runs on Central time (as all the Trade Rumors sites do) even though none of our writers live in that time zone.

Based on reports I hear the Jazz are sellers. Do you agree?
Luke Adams
12:25
They're more likely to be sellers than buyers but I doubt we see a fire sale or anything like that. It also wouldn't shock me if they acquire a player capable of helping them in the short term if they envision him as a long-term piece (the John Collins rumors fit this bill, considering he's under contract for at least two more seasons beyond this one).

Are the Lakers more likely to deal Pat Bev or Westbrook at this point? Westbrook needs the firsts to give any value, and LA has seemed stunningly hesitant to deal them.
Luke Adams
12:28
The odds of a Westbrook trade have declined significantly over the course of the season. It's just hard to figure something out with a cap hit that big, and the fact that he's been quite effective in his sixth man role means you'd actually be losing something on the court by moving him. A Westbrook deal isn't out of the question, but Beverley seems far more likely to be moved.

Is anyone untouchable on the hornets besides LaMelo?🏀
Luke Adams
12:29
I don't see how anyone could be. The Hornets' asking price for young players like P.J. Washington and Jalen McDaniels should be high, but they're surely movable for the right offer, whereas the Hornets wouldn't even listen on LaMelo.

Any thoughts on what the Blazers will do as the deadline approaches? Just out of playoff picture but still in the hunt.
Luke Adams
12:32
They seem like a team that should be better on paper than they have been in reality. Josh Hart seems like the obvious trade candidate there based on his contract situation, but if I were the Blazers, I'd be a bit worried about how Jusuf Nurkic's contract will age.

If letting the Westbrook contract expire and resigning Hachimura decreasess the amount the Lakers can spend significantly this summer wouldn't they be highly motivated to trade Russ and a pick or two?
Luke Adams
12:35
I think there's an argument to be made for targeting players who have a year or two on their contracts beyond this one and forgetting about cap space for this summer (this applies to trading Beverley too, not just Westbrook). But I'm still a little skeptical that the Lakers will go that route -- even though they're putting it out there now that they plan to re-sign Rui, he's still an expiring contract, which gives them the flexibility to pivot and let him go if they want to go after a big fish in the summer. Losing Hachimura for nothing after giving up three 2nd-rounders for him would be a small price to pay if the Lakers have a chance to use their cap room on a legitimate star (Kyrie?).
Donte DiVincenzo
12:36
I really like the Warriors, but I also like money. Is there any possible way I can stay with them next year?
Luke Adams
12:38
It's not out of the realm of the possibility. We've seen guys who really like their situations accept team-friendly 1+1 deals in recent years and then get bigger raises the following season once they have Early Bird rights (Batum with the Clippers and Portis with the Bucks come to mind). It'll depend how much Donte wants to stay in Golden State and how aggressive other teams are willing to get for him (for what it's worth, he's still a role player averaging eight points per game -- I don't know that bidding will get crazy).

With Isaac back in the fold, Mo Bamba appears to be more disposable than ever. Any gut instincts on whether he is dealt and if he will be anything more than a backup anyway?
Luke Adams
12:40
His name keeps popping up in trade rumors, but I'm not sure the Magic will get more than maybe a second-round pick for him, and if that's the case, maybe they just hang onto him and make a decision in the offseason on whether to keep him around. I don't want to say the ship has sailed on Bamba ever becoming a quality starter, since he's still just 24 years old, but it's not a great sign that he's been surpassed by so many other players on a rebuilding team.

12:41
What would it take for the Cavs to get Kyle Anderson from the Timberwolves? He seems like an ideal fit for them.
Luke Adams
12:41
I don't get the sense that the Wolves would move Anderson, since they're still in win-now mode and he's an ideal role player for that sort of team (which is why I agree that he'd be a great fit in Cleveland!)
Garth
12:41
Do you see any coaching changes being made mid season? Atlanta?
Luke Adams
12:43
If one were to happen during the season, Nate McMillan in Atlanta and Stephen Silas in Houston would probably be my first guesses. We're past the halfway point though, so we're getting near the point where most teams will just ride it out and make their moves in the spring.
Noot Noot
12:43
Do you think VanVleet and Trent Jr. can each fetch a first rounder?
Luke Adams
12:45
I'd feel good about getting at least one for VanVleet. As for Trent... probably, but you'd likely have to accept lottery protections. This Raptors front office hasn't really shown a propensity to stockpile draft picks though, so I wonder if a deal involving a young player is more likely (sort of like when the Raptors initially acquired Trent for Norm Powell).
Buy Buy Buy
12:45
Who do you see as the best buyout candidate becoming available after the trade deadline? And where do you see this player signing?
Luke Adams
12:46
Some of the names that have been tossed around as possible buyout candidates seem pretty unlikely to me (like Marc Stein floating Richaun Holmes today). Buyouts for players with years still left on their contracts don't happen too often unless they're willing to give back a lot of money or there are behind-the-scenes issues happening that necessitate a divorce.
12:48
Having said all that... Will Barton makes sense to me -- the Wizards want to open up a roster spot, he hasn't been the player they'd hoped for, and he's on an expiring deal. He's been solid in the past and could maybe benefit from a change of scenery. Serge Ibaka seems unlikely to be a Buck by March 1, but I have to think they'll find a trade for him, even if it's just to dump his salary and reduce their tax bill. If we're going to get bigger names on the buyout market, it'll probably be a result of the player pushing for it and giving up a chunk of money.

I am huge Bulls fan and I  think they will stay put  at the trade deadline. Do you agree?
Luke Adams
12:51
I don't expect LaVine, DeRozan, or Vucevic to be on the move. I could see them doing something around the edges, maybe involving Coby White, but I suspect you're right that it'll be quieter than some people may be hoping for.
Knicks on the up

Why doesn’t Jalen Green get more respect in the league?, keep hearing “6th man ceiling” or calling him a “bust”. He’s on the  Worst team, but still breaking records posting boarderline all star numbers and out performing all 21 picks offensively. And ahead of the curve considering he’s on a hot garbage team. Is there a chance of buy low regarding Green before he hits the heights he most likely will?
Luke Adams
12:53
It's difficult to evaluate prospects when they're putting up strong numbers for such bad teams. Because the Rockets have been so bad since Green got there, it's easy to criticize him for not doing his part to turn them into a winner, but there's only so much young players like that can do. I could see him having a trajectory similar to Devin Booker's (Booker was also dinged during his first few seasons for not being a "winning" player, but that has definitely gone away in recent years).

Davion Mitchell would be a perfect complement to Luka in Dallas's backcourt and seems buried in Sacramento. What would be the cost to acquire him in a trade?
