OK, kids, lets get our chat started. Fire away....

Can you tell me if you have ever been at a Steeler's practice and seen or heard them address penalties?  Bill B. In New England would not put up with this week after week penalty fest!
Gerry Dulac
10:57
yes, they address penalties every time they bring the officials in to work practice. Last Friday was the most recent time.

Love your chats!  One of my biggest questions about Steelers ability to make it deep into the post-season is whether we can handle offensive schemes designed to pick apart our pass coverage.  With the addition of Haden and the progress of Hilton and Burns, which team will be our next big test to see if we're improving as much as I hope we are?
Gerry Dulac

I think that will come in mid- to late October when they plays KC and the Lions in a span of three weeks. They are two different types of attacks -- KC is more West Coast, Detroit is more vertical -- but both have QBs who can make big plays.

Hi, Gerry,   I'm surprised there has been little or no mention of all the empty seats for the first home game on Sunday. A lot of yellow (gold?) showing on TV.  That certainly wasn't the case in places like KC.
Gerry Dulac
11:00
There were more than I thought. Great day, too, though I realize it was a little hot in those seats that had the sun all day. And a very good opponent -- Minnesota. I was a tad surprised as well

Do you think if the Steelers could have foreseen that Ross Cockrell was going to tank in the preseason they would have drafted a db higher? I'm afraid Cam Sutton may prove to be Senquez Golson 2.0. Also, it's sickening to think that in 2013 we could have had Xavier Rhodes in the first round.
Gerry Dulac
11:01
No. They did not have a lot of faith in Ross Cockrell going forward. The writing was already on the wall when they tendered him the lowest offer possible. That showed they weren't afraid to lose him

It seems as if Mr. Haley calls one of  his eight plays despite the defense he is playing, no adjustments. Stubborn or unimaginative? Or, pray, saving creativity for later in the season?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Neither. It's the first couple games and, like the players, you're trying to develop a feel for what you're doing. Here's a simple rule to always follow: Don't get too excited about the good things or too worried about the bad things the first month of the season. Let it develop, let it play out. There is plenty of time.

Gerry, do you see this weekend as your typical "Tomlin Trap" game? It's a week away from a big division rival, we're playing an inferior team on the road. This just screams trap to me. Why can't the steelers ever put away inferior teams the way you see the patriots or raiders do?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
No.
Kevin
11:03
With 92 not getting a snap, does this become a locker room issue?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Nope

Gerry.....What's up with Conner, & TJ's respective injuries? Haven't seen , or heard much, hopefully this is a good thing.
Gerry Dulac
11:03
You haven't heard much because Tomlin doesn't discuss much and he instructs the players to do the same.
Kevin
11:03
I'll go ahead and throw it out there. Speculation of Timmons returning if cut, any chance you believe this to be true?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
It's speculation mainly because it would seem to be so obvious. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me on one hand. On the other, it would be unfair to Vince Williams to bring back a player who was the former starter and have him sit behind you.

Gerry....Oops, I meant Jesse James, not Connor!
Gerry Dulac
11:05
Right. But same answer

Gerry,  with regard to Cam Sutton....what is a player allowed to participate in when on IR designated for return?  Meetings, be around the facility?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
11:05
He's around the facility and can attend practice and meetings. He just can't participate in practice until after 8 weeks

Gerry, do you think the Steelers should play Watt, Tuitt, and Wilcox against the Bears, if they aren't fully recovered from their injuries? The Bears aren't exactly a copy of the Patriots.
Gerry Dulac
11:07
It doesn't matter who they are playing -- Chicago or NE. If they aren't ready to play, they aren't playing. Period. If they are ready, they are playing. Very simple. Nobody's participation is determined and/or jeopardized based on the opponent.

Isn't James Harrison wasting a roster spot?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
Nope

With JuJu Smith-Shuster coming on, the Steelers might be in the position to play a lot of 4 "wides" and sit the TE. This could be a scary sight for opposing defenses. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
If you by "sit" you mean not dress a TE, that's not happening. They will dress 3 TEs and 5 WRs, one of which is 88, for nearly every game.

Would like to see Hargrave get more than 20 snaps a game? I thought he was able to play in base and sub package defense?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
Yes I would. I'd like to see him used more as one of the two down linemen in sub packages
Gus
11:08
Who would you say are the vocal leaders in the locker room?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
Cam, Ben, Pouncey probably the most prominent. Harrison and Gay command everyone's ear, even though they might not take the podium a lot.
Kevin in Punxsy
11:09
Hopefully Tomlin and the players learned their lessons regarding taking "bad" teams lightly and losing to teams they should beat handily. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
It's human nature. But I also think it's a indication of the type of team you have. If you lose those types of games two or three times a season, it's usually an indicator you're not very good anyway. If you don't lose those types of games and you beat the teams you're supposed to beat, it's usually an indicator you're pretty good. Those games don't define you. You define those games.

I really like the play so far of JJ, do you think he can be our tight end of the future?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
He's no TE
Jim
11:14
Not overly impressed with Haden so far, but then again he hasn't been toasted yet so that's a plus. What's your take, good pickup for the long haul?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
He's much better than what they had and gives them a good chance to be pretty good
Tom K.

Mr. Dulac, here is an appropriate question for you, who is the best golfer on the Steelers 53 many roster?
