Good afternoon. Not much to chew on today, but let's begin anyway

Is Ben washed up? Say it ain't so.
Ed Bouchette
1:59
Mike Tomlin says it ain't so, and so do I. However, he has not played well through the first five games of the season.

Hi Ed - do you think the increased use of an empty backfield this year is leading to more pressure on Ben (even if there were only 2 sacks Sunday)?
Ed Bouchette
1:59
No, they've used that quite a bit in the past, including last year which was one of his best as far as sacks.
JerseySteel

Hi Ed - it seems like on most plays that AB is the only one getting open and occasionally JuJu. It seemed like our receiving core was such as strength to begin the season. What happened with Eli and Martavis ?
Ed Bouchette
2:00
Eli hasn't dressed the past two games, which I believe was a mistake. Ben says he will play this week. Martavis has been up and down

Has Tomlin lost the locker room?  This team seems to have lost focus.  They seem to be more concerned about personal stats, contracts, cleat designs, Tweets, protests, and TD celebrations. Thoughts?
Ed Bouchette
2:00
I don't think he's "lost" the locker room but I see why you might think things are unraveling a bit.

re: Big Ben  Didn't Chuck Noll used to say, "When you start talking about retiring, you are already retired?
Ed Bouchette
2:01
Yes, he did. I'm not sure that fits in every case.

As leaders of the locker room and team, what needs to be stepped up with Ben and Antonio and everyone else for their ways of getting this team over the hump?
Ed Bouchette
2:02
Sounds simple but play better.
JerseySteel
2:02
Why does Tomlin let Mike Mitchell celebrate a tackle after a 12 yard running play while down by 2 scores?
Ed Bouchette
2:03
That was a bad look, wasn't it? But what was Tomlin to do, run out on the field and grab him by the neck?
Tony
2:03
Ed, what's your thoughts on all these designed shovel passes? Thanks for doing this! Fan from north of the boarder!
Ed Bouchette
2:03
They've worked for the most part.

Why is Ben getting all the blame for the loss to the Jags. The two pick-sixes were as much the receivers fault as his? Agree? The entire team looked poor from the start.
Ed Bouchette
2:04
When you are the QB and you throw 5 interceptions and cannot get your team in the end zone, you're going to take a lot of blame and Ben took it himself. However, you are correct on some of those interceptions -- poor protection, tipped balls.

You chided me last week for calling this a mediocre team, coming to my side a little bit this week? Love the chats, give me something to good to hold onto about this team? Something is just off, been watching for 40 years.
Ed Bouchette
2:05
You are not mediocre when you are 3-1 and you may not be mediocre if you are 3-2 but you are the definition of mediocre if you are 3-3.
Henry

This offense seemed much more stable when Heath Miller was playing.  I know James has played ok at times but could the loss of Miller be bigger than we thought?
Ed Bouchette
2:06
Perhaps, but players retire all the time. You cannot keep everyone forever. Others have to step up.

Has there ever been this much turmoil with the Steeelers ,,,on and off the field ? Has it been the catalyst to this tailspin?
Ed Bouchette
2:07
Oh, this is nothing compared to stuff that's happened in the past. Go back and look at some stories from 1988 when they went 5-11. Or in 1990 and 1991, Noll's last two years. Or in 2003 or 2006. This is nothing.

Good Afternoon Ed, Do you think it's time for the offense to change up and go 2 minute O out the gate as they've done a few times last season. Throw the defense back on their heels, and let Ben be Ben. Oh and pump fakes wouldn't hurt! Thoughts?
Ed Bouchette
2:08
I like their 2-minute offense but I would not do it in KC, one of the nosiest stadiums in the NFL
Rags from Baltimore

Any reason the Steelers have not been using Watson for those 3rd and 2/3 yards?  When they have used him, we get a first down.
Ed Bouchette
2:09
I'm surprised they have not tried him a little more. They haven't given the ball to Bell in those situations much

Is staging faux-outrage at a national anthem protest, that has nothing to do with the troops or the flag a valid use of taxpayer money?
Ed Bouchette
2:11
I'm not sure what the taxpayers have to do with that
Sheff
2:11
Based on what you know about this team's history, do you think we have a strong chance of winning or keeping it close in KC?  It wouldn't surprise me if we win at all.
Ed Bouchette
2:12
It would surprise me too, but then I've been surprised 3 times already this season when they lost to the Bears and Jaguars and beat Baltimore.
miki

3rd and goal at the 2. two plays to make 2 yards. they throw a double move in the end zone to brown. if they don't trust bell to make 2 yards why are they paying him $12,000,000?
Ed Bouchette
2:12
I'm with you

Ed. Am I crazy for thinking the Jags loss wasn't as bad as everyone thinks for these 3 reasons. 1. The Jags aren't that Bad (Top 3 D) 2. The Jags had 1 total yard in the 3rd Q and 3. Ben will not throw back to back pick 6's again, had he not done that...I can argue the Steelers actually win the game.
Ed Bouchette
2:13
And if elephants had wings . . .
2:14
It's come to this: The loss at home to the Jaguars wasn't  bad because Jags "aren't that bad"
David Dobin

3-2 and the world is falling, some teams would love to be 3-2 right now. Clearly Ben is struggling, do you sense the offense (Bell, Brown) are becoming frustrated with his inaccuracies and bad reads?
Ed Bouchette
2:16
Some teams may love to be 3-2 but this team was supposed to be among the best in the league and they've lost to 2 big underdogs. The easy part of their schedule is behind them too.
