Hey everyone, we're here at Ford Field. I finally made it 20 years after Super Bowl XL, which I watched from Pittsburgh.

Welcome to today's Steelers-Lions game chat. Post your questions and Brian and I will be here to answer them leading up to kickoff. Paul Zeise will take it over for the rest of the game.

Does Logan Lee get a helmet today as the emergency snapper?
Brian Batko
3:08
Hadn't really thought about that aspect, but potentially, yeah. Christian Kuntz dealing with a knee injury this week in practice. He's out there now with Corliss Waitman going through their usual pregame routine.
3:09
By the way, the inactives are Will Howard (emergency QB3), Kaleb Johnson, Roman Wilson, Isaac Seumalo, TJ Watt, Nick Herbig and James Pierre. Obviously, those last four are injured, but the last two third-round picks on offense are healthy scratches.

would be so great to see us actually beat a very good team on the road.  i think today will tell us a lot of where we really are AND where our heads are out.  All the “it doesn’t matter” talk, is for amateurs.

I think you are right. I think the Lions are a good team and we will find out a lot about the Steelers today. Can they keep the league's No. 1 offense in check? Can the Steelers offense do damage against a bad defense that also is dealing with injuries? We'll find out soon.

I assume Sawyer is starting at one outside linebacker position. Well Jeremiah Moon get some snaps today or is he just a back up in case of injury?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:11
Moon will have to play some. He's the only other backup OLB on the roster. They did not elevate DeMarvin Leal for this game. The only other player who can play OLB is Malik Harrison, and he's been starting as an ILB.

If you guys observed some practices this week, how did MBS and Thielen look? Any chance they get more involved today?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:13
They both played a lot of snaps last week so I would expect the same this week. As far as production goes, who knows? That will be up to Aaron Rodgers and how he distributes the ball. MVS scored a TD last week. Only had one catch, but he made it count. Rodgers is going to spread the ball around.

How does the offensive line look today? Any new scratches because of injury or performance?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:14
Nope. Isaac Seumalo will not play due to the triceps injury he got last week. So you'll see either Spencer Anderson or Ryan McCollum at guard. Anderson also as jump TE.

There has been a lot of secrecy on what’s going on with TJ Watt. Anything you all could share without revealing your sources on this matter?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:16
I think he'll be back soon. However, there is a scenario next week where the Browns game has no meaning in terms of the playoffs. So if that's the case, they could sit Watt again and rest him for the playoffs.

3:17
whats with Kaleb Johnson not getting a helmet today??
Ray Fittipaldo
3:18
Just speculating here, but it might have something to do with special teams. Johnson doesn't play a lot on special teams. Even when he has been active they've only used him for two or three carries a game, if that. They have Connor Heyward and even Jonnu Smith as emergency options if Warren and Gainwell are injured and cannot play.

How will the snaps be divided between Warren  and Gainwell? I know Warren is better between the tackles, but I think Gainwell offers more on getting bigger splash place with his ability to get outside and also break tackles.
Ray Fittipaldo
3:20
It's been a pretty even split all season, and I expect that to continue today.

3:22
Any idea who is starting at LG? Spencer Anderson or Peat? Prob Anderson
Ray Fittipaldo
3:22
Probably Anderson, but they could use McCollum or Peat there nd let Anderson concentrate on his duties as jumbo TE.

3:23
If Detroit starts scoring at will against the Steelers defense, is there anyway the Steelers offense can keep up in a shootout?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:24
Sure. The Lions defense isn't very good to begin with, and they're dealing with some injuries.
Carlo
3:24
i see Myles Garrett was awarded a 1/2 sack on a play where he did not actually touch the QB, guess that's todays NFL
Ray Fittipaldo
3:25
I didn't see it. What happened? You can be awarded a sack if you run a QB out of bounds. Not sure how else?
KW
3:26
Is anyone else worried about OLB today? I’m not convinced Sawyer is ready.  Hope I am wrong! Any chance we see Harrison grab a few snaps at OLB (instead of moon)?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:26
Harrison is a big part of their run defense inside. I think you'll see Moon as a sub before Harrison. And Sawyer is starting ready or not. He's going to play a bunch of snaps.
Brian Batko
3:26
Jared Goff has been pressured a lot this year and the Lions OL is banged up, so that could help.
KW
3:27
Good point

any hunch if new england gets it done tonight?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:29
They'll be motivated. They had a big lead and let it get away. Ravens need a win bad though so the Pats will get their best shot. I think if Maye plays the way he has all season and the Pats don't abandon their running game the way they did last week the Pats will have a good chance.

Browns are giving the Bills six fits, and Josh Allen was sacked for a 23 yard loss on the 1, touched by another Dlineman, bur Garrett was in the "vicinity" so they split it
Ray Fittipaldo
3:37
Hmmm. The NFL reviews those so it might not be. Remember TJ Watt almost broke the record, but they took it away because it was a "an aborted play."

The Browns are going to give the Steelers fits next week too.
Ray Fittipaldo
3:40
Their defense might, but Shedeur Sanders is still their QB. He's thrown two INTs today.
Brian Batko

Aaron Rodgers still has his left wrist in a soft cast/splint of some sort. Easier to see now that he's sleeveless here in the dome.
Zach Frazier also has his left arm pretty heavily wrapped. He missed practice Thursday with a tricep injury.

No Leal elevation.  Did he have bad tape last week?  Moon gets a hat over him?
Ray Fittipaldo
3:48
Tells you all you need to know on how they feel about Leal.

Targets this week for Theilen and MVS and Muth?  I got 3 and 2 and 5. What say you?
