Alright, the big Terrible Towel is out on the field and the teams are about to get introduced. I'll be here chatting with you thorughout the game.

Let's get into it.

Is there any way to find out information about Max’s injury? I’m getting concerned our No.1 again will be a washout in his first year (especially when he started so well). Also, any word on Ramsey? That, too, becoming worrisome.

Max Iheanachor initially had an injury that Mike McCarthy thought would hold him out just a few days. Then that went into not having a timeline. That happened weeks ago, and he's not dressed tonight.

Certainly a concern.

As far as Ramsey, unless he just wanted to skip camp because he could, a knee injury that happened in early June holding him out from mid-August practices and games is something to worry about. He'll be 32 in October, so if he's actually hurt for this long, that would be quite worrisome.

Post reporters keep saying there are no ongoing talks with JPJ. Why is that? Have the Steelers made an offer he refused? Has his agent put something out there? Are Post reporters still confident something will get done?

I get the sense the Steelers are trying to get him to a reasonable price in their minds while Porter wants to be paid $30M+. I still see something working out eventually. But it's also possible that if this stand still isn't concluded that their plan will include a franchise tag.

I know there were rumors flying around online that a trade was in the works, but I do not see them trading Porter unless it's for a first round pick -- at least. I fully expect him to play this year and next year for the Steelers.

Chris, I love your insightful player analysis. Help me understand what Gennings Dunkers needs to do better. Reports seem to be he’s not doing as well as hoped.
Christopher Carter

Thanks!

Gennings Dunker is good at being the aggressive offensive lineman who attacks. But when he has to be passive in pass protection, he struggles and gets beat A LOT. He doesn't know how to engage when he's not attacking as a run blocker.

Carter, Leaving the numbers game & team politics out of this... Lew Nichols, irrefutable, was the best RB on the field last week. Curious though, all the in game, post game & analysis since... I haven't  heard 1 pundant, reporter etc., even mention his name. If it's  that cut n dry why even play him?
Christopher Carter
7:07
I like Lew Nichols, and he's in competition with Travis Homer for the last spot. Nichols has the edge as a runner and pass protector. Homer has the edge as a special teams helper.
7:08
Geno Smith has come out and completed two passes for first downs.

Run defense has held up so far.
7:09
Yahya Black bats down a pas and it's caught by a Jets offensive lineman to set up 3rd and 9.
7:10
Steelers sent the huse on third down but Geno Smith wasn't bothered and Mason Taylor did a good job to beat Deshon Elliott in man coverage.

Will you be doing these game chats during the regular season?
Christopher Carter
7:10
That is the plan!
7:14
TOUCHDOWN: Geno Smith hits Jelani Woods in the flat off play action and he's wide open to get to the end zone. Definitely a blown coverage.

Drive: 10 plays, 69 yards, 5:56.

Jets 7, #Steelers 0. Q1: 9:04.
7:15
Some notes from that opening drive for the defense:

Twice the Steelers got to third down and Patrick Graham sent the house. And neither time did it bother Geno Smith.

On the second one, they sent out a 3 OLB package with Highsmith, Herbig and Sawyer.

On the touchdown, a bad miscommunication off play action opened the door for an easy score. Lots to clean up after that drive.

First team defense not looking good against the woeful Jets

Typical Tomlin defense. Oh. Wait now. Ohhhh. Oops.

I could see Dunker having the issues that you mentioned. They did nothing but run the ball at Iowa,
Christopher Carter
7:16
On Dunker, this was also his tape at Iowa. And why he was a third round pick. He has a ton of potential. But he has to adjust to the position flip and learn how to block when he's dropping back.
Offense comes out in 11 personnel.

Roman Wilson in motion and it's a run to Jaylen Warren, but it goes off tackle to the right and only gets a yard.

2nd and 9.
7:18
The Steelers go 3 and out on their opening drive. Two runs that go nowhere, then Will Howard can't fit the ball into a window downfield and it's incomplete.

Offensive line got bullied on the two runs. Have to be better with the investments made there.
7:20
Robert Spears-Jennings did a good job to draw a flag on the punt. Got downfield and drew a block in the back to help flip the field. That's how you fight to make the team as a 7th round rookie safety.

Wetjen... danciing bear... not impressed
Hillbilly
7:20
so far Warren is having a Kaleb Johnson night,
Dwight

Not the dreaded miscommunication on defense! Thought this went out the door with Tomlin
Hillbilly
7:20
Did our starting offensive line trade jerseys with their backups?
Christopher Carter
7:21
Kaden Wetjen has to get north and south a lot faster in my opinion.
Nothing against Jaylen Warren for me on those runs. He didn't have much space to run. The offensive line has to get more push.
Cade Klubnik in for the Jets at QB.
Polevetsian Dance No. 2 by Borodin

He went North... stopped & did a icky shuffle... tackled
Hillbilly
7:23
Wow! 31 nearly took the hand off on that play
Christopher Carter
7:24
The Steelers have subbed Broderick Jones for Dylan Cook at RT and Brock Hoffman for Spencer Anderson at right guard.
Hillbilly
7:26
Thanks for the heads up. I’ll be watching Broderick. I’m curious to see how far along he is progressing in his recovery

Will Howard finds Roman Wilson sitting down the middle of the field for 14 yards on a hook.
