Looks like a great day for Steelers’ running game.  How do you see it?

Here we go, Steelers! Time to put it all together: shut down the Indy run game, pile up the sacks, level up our own run game, grind out long drives, and end them with touchdowns.

Hey everyone, Chris Carter will be driving the chat today after kickoff but Ray Fittipaldo, Gerry Dulac, Jason Mackey and I are in the press box at Lucas Oil Stadium ready to roll.
12:40
Pregame warmups had Mason McCormick lining up as the No. 1 left guard, as we expected much of the week and Gerry reported this morning. Roman Wilson did plenty of route running and whatnot but still a healthy scratch.
12:43
Why no Roman Wilson? Well, the Steelers simply don't use four-WR sets, let alone five, so they're content with going heavier on tight ends and running backs for Arthur Smith's offense. Calvin Austin III and Scotty Miller are playing well. Wilson might need to wait for an injury to get his opportunity to work his way into the mix.
Ray Fittipaldo

Lots of questions from fans why Roman Wilson can't get a helmet. He missed five weeks of camp and preseason, and he's a rookie. Tough to get on the same page as QBs when you miss so much time. Plus, Arthur Smith is a very tight-end friendly OC. He is comfortable dressing four WRs and four TEs. He's doing that for the second week in a row.

Loud cheers for the Steelers here as they run out of the tunnel in Indy. Lots of Terrible Towels waving. It's still mostly blue, but plenty of yellow poking through.

Still getting some questions on X about Wilson being inactive and being the emergency No. 3 QB. It's a rule that came into existence last season for the first time. Wilson dresses but can only enter the game if Justin Fields and Kyle Allen get injured and cannot go back into the game.

Let’s go!

Hey everyone! Christopher Carter here, minutes away from kickoff, give my your predictions!

The rotation on the o line is becoming annoying.  There needs to be steady cohesion to get this run game going. Thoughts?
Christopher Carter
12:55
Krystle, it is a head scratching scenario. But I think they're easing Mason McCormick in until they feel he's comfortable. There might be some situatiosn they feel he hasn't adapted to just yet. It isn't traditional, to say the least.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:57
I know the running game has not been consistent, but they are 12th in the league in rushing. Rush efficiency stats not as good, but they value the volume and wearing teams down.

I have Steelers 19, Colts 16. Game time. Chris has it from here.

Predicting Steelers by 4 points.

I'd also caution that a rotation might not end up happening. It could be the plan right now, but if McCormick is pushing people around out there, I don't think they'll pull him for Anderson. But we'll see. Steelers 20, Colts 19. Big game for George Pickens against suspect Indy corners. Pat Freiermuth catches a touchdown and Cordarrelle Patterson runs for one.

Steelers win toss and defer to second half.

As Brian and I discussed on the Friday North Shore Drive podcast, the Steelers are 2nd in time of possession while the Colts are dead last in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Colts' defense ranks dead last in run defense.

All that spells to me that the Steelers have a chance to control the pace of this game if they limit Jonathan Taylor. Do that, run the football yourself, and you can dictate the pace of this game.

Hey Christopher - if Fields plays reasonably well and the Steelers move to 4-0 does Tomlin go to Wilson next week?
Ken

Steelers are a 53% chance of winning this game.  Should be close.  Harris will get his first 100 game!
Christopher Carter

Jaded Yinzer--I think Mike Tomlin will ride the wave of good play by Justin Fields until it stops producing results. If he struggles, then he'll give Wilson a shot (presuming he's healthy).

Hoping Colts Rookie center gets dominated to keep Taylor in check.

10-4 Christopher - thanks for the answer!

Nothing dynamic about the new kuckoffs. Is the NFL more likely to drop
Christopher Carter

Colts come out with a strike down the field. Joey Porter Jr. missed a chance at an interception.
Ken

Oh boy.  Not a good way to start darn it.

Punched us right in the nose right off the bat.  Smart move.

Nothing dynamic about the kickoffs. Is the NFL more likely to drop it or make the starting point more punitive for kicking thru the end zone? (Say, 40 yard line)
Jaded Yinzer

Horrific start
Christopher Carter

Looked like a DeShon Elliott blitz ruined the timing of Richardson's second down pass, but he made up for it with the QB draw on 3rd down.

If they can hold them to 3 that will be a win

Hope we have designated a spy for Richardson

Good effort by Nick Herbig to limit the 2nd down run.

Why is Wilson in for Roberts?

Touchdown by the Colts. Good usage of matchups by the Colts to start the game. Ran at the Steelers when they had the right alignments and set the tone.

Darn it.  Terrible, terrible way to start.  Come on Offense, not it is your turn.
