Good morning Steelers fans. I'm opening up the chat a bit early. If you have questions post them and I'll begin to answer them. Brian Batko will pop in and out too throughout the morning.

Rodger's QBR is something in the mid-40s. Is that a concern? Can the Steelers win a playoff game with him managing at this level?
Ray Fittipaldo
10:44
QBR is a new stat within the past decade or so. His QB rating is 102.6, which is very good. We can pick and choose stats to look at, but I always look at how QBs play in the clutch. Rodgers was money late against the Jets and money late against the Pats. Analytics can't measure clutch play, but it's a real thing.

(thanks! I didn't know the difference between QB rating and QBR)

Not too much to watch for in pregame warmups today. The Steelers upgraded Jalen Ramsey from questionable to no injury status so he's expected to play. It's the first time the defense is fully healthy this season. And Calvin Austin III was ruled out Friday.
Brian Batko
11:13
Hello, I'm here. And how's everyone doing out there?

11:15
do you think the Steelers will add a WR2 before the deadline? are there other positions that you think are as high/higher priority?
Brian Batko
11:16
I don't know if they will but I don't think anyone position could use an infusion of help more than WR
Ray Fittipaldo
11:16
I think they'll wait to see how guys like Roman Wilson and Scotty Miller play while Calvin Austin III is out. And, of course, they'll monitor Austin's progress with this shoulder injury.
Brian Batko
11:20
Here's my guess for the inactives this week. Tough to settle on the last one but here goes: Calvin Austin, Andrus Peat, Esezi Otomewo, DeMarvin Leal ... and Logan Lee.

11:27
Would the draft position of Drew Allar fall because of his injury?
Matt D.
11:29
Do you think Harmons return contributed to Bentons improved play?
Brian Batko
11:30
No, I think Keeanu Benton just had a good game. And needs to keep that up.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:30
Would depend on the severity. If he's already been ruled out for the season then I'm going to assume his pre-draft prep will be affected too. Most of these guys jump from the CFP to the combine prep to pro day prep, etc. I'm sure it will factor in. He didn't exactly light it up when he was healthy so that will obviously factor in too. The interesting part of this equation is Allar has prototypical size and traits the NFL wants at the position. He's a big strong guy, he can move around a little so he's not going to be a stationary target in NFL pockets. He's an interesting evaluation. Did Penn State fail him? Can an NFL team get more out of him and help him reach his potential? Or is he who he is? That's why the GMs get paid so well. They have to sift through all that stuff.
Curtis
11:33
I agree with you that Penn State failed him.  That offense need a Beau Pribula type to move around.
Brian Batko
11:34
Inactives are out and I'm on a two-game slide: Calvin Austin, Andrus Peat, Logan Lee, DeMarvin Leal and Chuck Clark, which is the surprise to me.
Matt D.
11:35
I guess we will see more Peppers today with Clark out.
Brian Batko
11:36
Chuck Clark played 41% of the snaps against Minnesota, but I guess this will be a bigger Juan Thornhill game at safety and yes, Jabrill Peppers makes more sense given his run-stuffing ability
Matt D.
11:38
How do you guys think the rb snaps will be distributed?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:39
Warren and Gainwell will get most of the snaps. Not sure how much Kaleb Johnson will be involved.
Matt D.
11:40
Do you think the receiver just signed from the practice squad sees any offensive snaps?
Brian Batko
11:41
Probably not on offense, but I expect him to be the punt returner and maybe even one of the kick returners, too. Interesting that Mike Tomlin is trusting another rookie after the Kaleb Johnson snafu. But Williams also returned nine punts in preseason. They didn't even try anyone else back there when Calvin Austin was out.

11:43
Can the O-Line handle this D-Line? Rodgers could certainly help by using the middle of the field and maybe that, what's his name, 88.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:44
Expect the Steelers to double team or chip Garrett on almost every pass attempt. That's one way to do it -- neutralize their best pass rusher. But they are talented across the board. They're giving up only 247 yards per game so obviously they have some other good players on that front.
Brian Batko
11:45
If not 88, maybe 81 will get going today on that front. Darnell Washington will be a major piece of the game plan again this week, too. Mike Tomlin draws a big circle around Mount Washington twice a year when they face the Brownies.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:48
Chris Boswell and Corliss Waitman appear a bit concerned about the field conditions as they go through their pregame kicks. The field is a bit worn in the middle and on the hashes. He's kicking toward the scoreboard end of the stadium now.
Matt D.
11:49
We need more intermediate crossing routes that Aurther Smith has run in the past.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:50
They ran one the first drive of the season when Rodgers hit Skowronek for that 22-yard touchdown. They haven't gone back to a lot of that, but maybe it will resurface soon.
Matt D.
11:54
Imo that is where Roman wilson could excel!!
Brian Batko
11:58
Aaron Rodgers had a brutal game against a Jim Schwartz defense in 2014 when Schwartz was with the Bills. But in the three times he's faced Schwartz since, all Packers vs. Eagles, Rodgers has is 2-1 putting up 30, 27 and 27 points. Here are his stat lines:

25 of 34, 295 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT, 2 sacks
34 of 53, 422 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 1 sack
30 of 39, 313 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT, 0 sacks
12:31
Steelers warming up now with their first-team offense and defense walk-throughs. Scotty Miller is the second receiver, Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith with the offense. Jalen Ramsey is at safety in the 3-4 defense.
12:33
And Ke'Shawn Williams just lined up as the punt returner when they repped that, as I mentioned he would earlier
12:52
OK folks, Browns are taking the field and the Steelers defensive starters are about to be announced. I'll leave the chat now and let you all enjoy the game. For the record, I've got Steelers 24, Browns 10.
