Ok, all .. .here we go; down to the last 2 weeks. That in mind, I've set up a one=question poll to gauge interest in a chat for next week. Let me know if that would be helpful or not (and no hard feelings if the answer is "no"). For now, let's try to get all your Q's answered ...
Would a chat next week be helpful?

Yes (92.3% | 12 votes)

No (7.7% | 1 vote)

Fighting for 4th place need all the stats I can get, would you trust Paddock? Its him or a empty spot
Brent Hershey
12:04
I wouldn't trust him, no. Realize he's looked better out of the pen, but I'll pass on this one.

In looking at the results of Warren of Yanks, can you tell me what his ERA is the first 2 innings of his collective starts? Seems to me he either comes out and shows good stuff or is hit hard and recovers but after an inning or two. I have no idea how to gather this info,
Brent Hershey
12:08
Baseball-Reference has these splits by inning under Warren's player page. For 2025:

1st inning ERA: 6.39
2nd inning ERA: 2.40
3rd inning ERA: 5.28

Collective 1-3 inning ERA: 4.70. So, yeah, might be something here.

Thanks for being very helpful this season.  Would you start Yesavage in a12 team points league where you have 9 pitchers?   Not sure of 2 starts and rated -3.9 on Monday.
Brent Hershey
12:09
Boy, think it's tough doing that for a rookie; more times than not its not going to go well. I'd probably pass.

Good morning, Brent!

Somehow, someway ... I've made it to my league's H2H championship. Phew! It wasn't easy.

In preparing for the week/period, I'm noticing HQ's high rating for Ian Seymour (1.6) vs. TOR on Wednesday.

Should we trust this?

Thanks for all of your help this season!

Congrats, Paul! Seymour has some pretty interesting underlying metrics in his 16G so far, and has not faced TOR yet. In your case, yes, I'm interested.

Hi Brent!  Thanks for continuing to help with two weeks to go. NL-only 4x4, and I need an injury replacement as I push for the pennant.  HR is the category most in flux, but SB would help too, and of course the pickings aren't great.  Best choices (because of PT) seem to be Mullins, O'Hearn, Conforto, McCutchen, Pham, Sanoja, Matos and Castro, and we've reached the point where the CDG projects 0 HR, 4 RBI, and 0 SB for all of them.  How should I choose?  Who would you choose?
Brent Hershey
12:15
I'd 1) prioritize playing time and become familiar with platoons; 2) look at upcoming opponents and venues (bump to any games in COL, Sac, CIN), and then factor in the best hitters (IE, who is more likely to have a hot 2 weeks). Top of my head, I'd dig more into O'Hearn, Pham and McCutchen.

Hello, playing in a head to head points league. Can you please rank the following pitchers in order that you like this week? Darvish@CWS, Bieber@KC, Castillio@KC, Gavin Williams@DET, Lodolo@CHC and Freeland MIA and LLA.
Brent Hershey
12:18
Bieber and easy #1 ... then Darvish, Williams, Castillo, Freeland.

NL-only, 12-team, dynasty. What is your take on the following pitchers for 2026: Mason Miller is the most likely closing for SD; Ryne Nelson continues his semi-breakout as a decent SP option; Edgardo Henriquez climbs to set-up role with LA, with a shot a closing by year-end. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:22
My take is that these are ranked in order of probability. Although ... remember there was some chatter about the Padres possibly moving Miller back to the rotation next spring. That probably doesn't affect his dynasty value ... there will be some upside there if this happens; he could still be super valuable. I've never quite been a Ryne Nelson guy; perhaps looking back over the winter I'll change my tune. But yes, young enough to hope for mid-rotation starter. Henriquez - this is a possibility, but in LA, with their capital and Dave Roberts' track record, not sure it's likely he becomes a closer. Skills are there; just not sure the opportunity will be.

Good morning Brent!

12-team H2H points league and have a couple of matchup issues.

two OF spot - Laureano/T Ward/Bader/Y Alvarez
SP (need to pick 3 of the following)
Woodruff (skipped start last week, not sure if he is still on track)
Early (not listed as a starter this week but may have 2 starts)
Gallen (seems like playing with fire)
Bieber
Barrios
Boyd
Kershaw
Ryan

Thinking about going with Woodruff and Bieber. I like Boyd's matchup vs Pitt but up in the air about everyone.

Appreciate all your help!
Brent Hershey
12:24
OF: Alvarez and Laureano; Bader #3
SP: Bieber, Woodruff and Ryan (hoping last start was just a blip). Boyd a strong #4 choice if you have concerns re: Ryan

Thanks as always for these chats Brent! NL 10 team 5x5 $4 FAAB left - $1 @ on which hitter/pitcher?: L Matos BCrim J Encarnacion D Gilbert T Pham T Johnston EWagaman A Thomas —/—PITCHERS: A Alavarez, Crismstt, Buehler         I cannot win , looking to finish strong & have good 2026 contracts
Brent Hershey
12:27
Hitter - most interested in the 3 Giants if 2026 is your aim. Jerar / Matos  / Gilbert in that order. Feel like Jerar has the most impact potential for 2026.
PItchers: Not as enticing ... Buehler (I guess); then Crismatt/Alvarez - a and no real preference there.
Thanks for being here each week, Beano!

NL-only, 12-team, dynasty. I picked up Aaron Asby as a really cheap FA this season. Is he now destined only to multi-inning relief, given the Brewers SP depth? He has a 4-5 pitch mix, a 27%K rate, and is really tough to barrel up. Still only 27.
Brent Hershey
12:29
Wouldn't given up on him as a SP for the reasons you mention. Only takes a couple injuries in spring training and Ashby COULD be back in the discussion. Speculation, but ... if you're able to hold over the winter, makes sense to do so IMO. If not, then also not a ton of harm in letting him go. Could always pick him up in the draft or as a FA next spring.

Hi Brent. 12-team mixed H2H 5X5 league with OBP instead of AVG. Playoff semi-finals! Whom would you prefer ROS among Tommy Edman, Jose Caballero, and Oneil Cruz? I'm currently rostering Cruz, but he seems to sit against all lefties now. Edman and Caballero may also have playing time questions, although Caballero seems to be outplaying Volpe by a pretty wide margin at the moment. Thoughts?
Brent Hershey
12:32
Not sure I want any part of Oneil Cruz coming down the stretch in a lost year for him and the team. Caballero would be my choice I think ... doesn't seem out of the question that they shut Volpe down at some point. Also, JC versatile enough to get AB in other spots, too. Can see the case for Edman — great surrounding cast, etc — but has not gotten "it" back since his early hot start. Good luck!

12:34
Hi again. I left out one available option from my previous question. Tommy Edman, Jose Caballero, Oneil Cruz, or Luis Garcia Jr. ROS in a H2H 5X5 league with OBP instead of AVG. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:34
Oh, yeah ... I'll change my answer to Garcia Jr. for sure. Decent skills, safer shot at PT.

On to the semifinals after a bye week and hoping my slumping hitters can wake up! Would you consider dropping either B. Lowe or Geno Suarez for a hot hand bat? Both have had great years but are mired in rough stretches, and this week is win or go home. Other drop candidates are Marsee and Keaschall but counting on them for SBs. Options on the wire include G. Moreno, Varsho, Manzardo, Bader, O. Kemp, K. Clemens, D. Lile, J. Bell, and B. Donovan. 5x5 OBP format, don't care about position.
Brent Hershey
12:38
Yes, feel like you need to go "hot hand" more than usual at this point. Probably drop Geno (Lowe at home)? Donovan, Moreno, Lile and maybe Bader — though tough matchup this week in LA — are the names that stand out to me. Agree that you def need to keep Marsee (in COL to start) and Keaschall.

Good afternoon...OBP and avg are spots i can move up...pick 1 L Garcia / B Baty...pick 2 L Butler, j Burger, A Martin, C Simpson, W Langford...SP wins are where i can move up ..pick 1 Cantillo / Luzardo...pick 1 Latz / Ginn (is tis last one close?)....THANK YOU
Brent Hershey
12:41
  1. Garcia
  2. Martin (as long as you don't mind empty BA/OBP) and Langford
  3. Luzardo
  4. Ginn (trusting skills hard here; is away from Sac). But yes, close, Latz could also work

hi Brent, thank you for taking my question. For this week only, who should play for my team: edwards or torres? 2 among helman marsh pham vaughn j sanchez edwards? 4 among these SP alcantara (@ col) elder (det) peterson (sd) i seymour (tor) mize (cle & atl) and skubal (pretty sad to include him in this list)? I could also include some RP among vest leasure ferrer to play it safe (I don’t think it’s necessary), but I am more in need of wins and k, than saves.
Brent Hershey
12:42
  1. Torres
  2. Marsh and Sanchez
  3. Alcantara, Seymour, Mize and ... yeah, Skubal
Porcho Villa
12:43
Who would be your top 1 or 2 adds of the following available SPs (5x5 QS, one week playoff round): Bibee, Chandler, Early, Gore, Alcantara, I. Seymour, Misiorowski, Messick, Flaherty?
Brent Hershey
12:43
Alcantara out front, then Gore

12:47
Points league playoffs, roll with Skubal and hope he starts this week or go with Woodruff or 2 starts from Pepiot? Thx!
Brent Hershey
12:47
Hmmmm ... might take those 2 from Pepiot, but guess there's risk there as well as Skubal. Maybe Woodruff, actually, given that it's LAA. My sense is that Skubal will start over the weekend sometime ... but do they push him? Similar question on Pepiot; wouldn't take much to push his start #2 back if he has any recurring fatigue, etc. So, with the rest, yeah ... I've come to Woodruff. Good luck!

Thanks for doing this Brent.
Trying to hold onto first in NFBC Auction Championship. Been devastated by injury in the home stretch, Turner, Tucker, Jeffers, Eovaldi, Eddie Cabrera. Desperate for Wins as we're just one win below a scrum. Just grabbed Gore for a home turn against Atlanta. Should we play him over Sonny Gray (Brewers at home) or Joey Ryan (Cleveland at home) or bench potentially two starts at home from Ian Seymour? Also have Verlander in Arizona, he's been great, and Boyd in Pittsburgh. Tempted to bench Ryan who's just been awful lately, though they attribute the last two disasters to illness.
Brent Hershey
12:51
These are getting tougher, lol. As mentioned in a post above, I'm inclined to start Ryan. Don't think I'd want Sonny Gray against MIL, even at home. And if you need wins, you kinda gotta take that Seymour 2-step. So I guess I'd consider Gore in for Gray, and roll from there. Good luck!
