Good noon (in EST), chatters! Getting down to it; let's go ...

In a dynasty league, do I continue and ride with Verlander and Scherzer for the next year or two, or do I drop one in order t keep Luzardo or Gavin Williams?
Brent Hershey
12:06
Drop as in release? Kinda tough, though it depends on where you are in the rebuild/compete cycle. Of the two you mention, I trust Williams more, long-term -- though agree that Luzardo would be a great get also. And I'd probably consider moving on from ... sigh ... Verlander first? Good luck

Good morning Brent-I am in an AL 5x5 keeper league and someone dropped Mike Trout. I am reading mixed reports some saying he comes back this year and others saying he wont. Do you think there is a chance as I have a spot for him where I just had Luis Rengifo hit the IR?
Brent Hershey
12:07
I find it unlikely that Trout comes back, given the surrounding circumstances ... unless it's to prove to himself (or other teams?) that he's healthy. But this injury - hamate - usually has minimal complications over the long-term.

glad  you’re back!NL 10 Tran 5x5. I have $20 left in FAAB - the most of all teams. I see only Lawlar & I’m not sure he helps as he looks overmatched. I have t turner, EDC, & O Cruz at SS & MI - do I grab lawlar at $14 - top bid to ensure getting him or just wait for one last round?
Brent Hershey
12:09
Good to be back and thanks for Ray for filling in for me on Labor Day! Keeper league, I think you do make that bid, esp w/ O Cruz out right now. Over the offseason, figure out how to make it all work re: spots, potential trades, etc.

Putting aside the non-baseball heinous charges, what do we do with Wander Franco and Julio Urias in keep-forever dynasty leagues? Leaning toward keeping both until end of season but cutting if no positive news surfaces.
Brent Hershey
12:11
Yeah I think your plan makes sense. But I don't judge anyone who cuts bait now, either.
doctor horrible
12:12
OK, the top 3 teams are separated by 2 roto points, 5x5, looks like ERA, Wins and WHIP are the biggies... so who do I start this week Need 2 out of : Montgomery, Maeda, Pepiot - who sits? I lean Maeda.... HELP!!!  (and thanks!)
Brent Hershey
12:12
JoMo sits for me; just don't like the recent trends there.
Jack
12:13
Nor sure if I just sent this or accidentally deleted it so sending it now. For next year would you rather keep Kirilloff (maybe he can be injury free) or Manzardo who seems to be starting 1B for Cleveland next year?  Also, how would you rank Ty France in the mix?
Brent Hershey
12:13
Kirilloff for sure. So much can happen between now and April re: Manzardo and CLE; not seeing him in MLB yet makes the risk great for you. Still would choose him over France for 2024, however.
Rick
12:15
Do you think Ian Happ has another level or is this what you expect from him in future years?
Brent Hershey
12:15
I think this is about right. SB are up some, which makes sense; feel like this will be a low-water mark for BA. Some fluctuation, useful player, but right now not seeing things that would indicate a breakout on the horizon, for instance.

Happy Monday Brent! Hope you had a great holiday weekend last week. Spent most of the season in last place which allowed me to grab underperforming players people gave up on. I’ve been grabbing from the waver wire or trading current players for prospects however I’m hitting a roster crunch with people coming back from the IL that I thought would be done for the season. Trying to decide who to trade away or cut. Hoping I can get some rankings here for future state (2024 and beyond). In a 5x5 10 team dynasty league: 3B: J Jung, A. Bohm, N Marte OF: J Duran, H Davis, J Kelenic, A Kirillof, T O’Neill, J Walker, N Jones SP: F Peralta, K Harrison, B Miller (LAD), C Ragans, T Skubal, B Woo, S Strider, N Lodolo, T McKenzie, A Ashby, B Singer

Sorry, too many to rank in a short time here, but these are players I'd be more open to moving on from than others:
N Marte, Kelenic, H Davis, T O'Neill, Harrison, McKenzie, Ashby, Singer
Players not on this list, I'd see best potential of "core" guys for the future.

Brent, Thanks for all your help and insight this year and in previous years. Always a Monday Highlight.

You got it, Rick! Thx for checking in.

These chats have helped me think a couple of weeks out, Brent, which is key in a 18-teamer. So thank you BBHQ.  What do you think ROS for three guys: N. Loftin, T. Houck, and C. Rea?
Brent Hershey
12:22
Houck - best of the 3 for potential ROS value. Don't really see either of others having much of a chance of contributing, even in an 18-tm league.

Why is Giolito rated so highly this week? He's been such a bum lately and Texas is still scary.
Brent Hershey
12:25
Good question. Think the fact that TEX is sliding some as well as LG's PQS-4 in his last outing. But ...if you wanted to go against the ratings in this one, I wouldn't fault you.

Is there a place to find out which teams make for the easiest matchups for pitchers in general? I'm trying to look for next week but BBHQ only goes 8 days out.
Brent Hershey
12:26
Tankathanon.com has some general Strength of Schedule info that you might find helpful. So much can change with rotations — especially this time of year — which is why our BHQ ratings only go out 8 days in advance.

Hi Brent- NL ONLY -categories that are important to me are RBI, Batting Avg for hitters and K's and Ratio for pitchers-  can you rank who you think has best upside down the stretch- E Montero (col), Winn (SF) or Winans (atl).   thanks
Brent Hershey
12:27
I think Montero, largely from the home schedule. Winans next, then Winn

12:28
Is there a way to look up pitcher's BPV or other stats over the last 30 days only?
Brent Hershey
12:28
For subscribers, see our individual PlayerLink pages. Among the splits on the player page is Last 31 days.

Hi Brent, thanks for doing this as we come into to home stretch. H2H 12-team points league. RBI, R, and SB are all 2 pts. Single is 1, double is 2, etc. do I play Castellanos, Duvall or Charles Blackmon? Adames is on the waiver wire but I have Max Muncy at my DH and starting Hoerner and Witt up the middle. It’s championship week and want to get this right
Brent Hershey
12:31
I'd go Castellanos b/c his combo of lineup certainty, team and park context is stronger than the others for this week. Good luck!

Keaton Winn, SF P.  Has had a couple good outings, has to be better than Stripling or a bullpen game, right?
Brent Hershey
12:31
Yes

12:32
Start Crawford or Woo this week? Don't want to risk ratios so I lean towards Woo's easy/short start
Brent Hershey
12:32
Scared of K Crawford right now. Would also lean Woo.
M
12:34
12 tm H2h points league. Pick 2:

Pepiot vs SD
Woo vs LAA
B.Garrett at MIL
Ryu 2x start vs TX, BOS
Littell 2x start at MIN, at BAL
Brent Hershey
12:34
Ryu and Woo; Pepiot a close 3d

12:35
Is it worth putting Jung back in the lineup for this week with few other options available?
Brent Hershey
12:35
Risky for only the games over the weekend. Might be more likely to if I was chasing rather than being chased.
Beano

Update! Just read that the Cubs will promote Crow-Armstrong Tuesday. I could hold my FAAB loot, let others use theirs on Lawlar and get Crow-Armstrong next week and for next year! Thoughts?
