Welcome to my Steelers chat. We're going to get started in a few minutes.

Did the Steelers really think Buggs, Mondeaux and Wormley can replace Alualu and Tuitt? Without good DL, the Steelers defense cannot be effective. I blame KC on not being aggressive in getting DL help. BTW, what the heck is wrong with Tuitt? We demand an answer!!!
Ray Fittipaldo

Tomlin was asked again about Tuitt today. He said he won't be available this week, but he refused to say that Tuitt is done for the season. For whatever that's worth. There are six games left. He hasn't even practiced with the team yet and remains on IR. The days are dwindling for him to make an impact.

Hi Ray!  Love your chats!  I often say that if the Steelers can't have a good season, then I will start to root for the Browns to fail in spectacular fashion.  It's actually pretty fun.  Do you want to become a "Browns fan" with me this year?

Hi Ray.  Do you think it is possible for the Steelers to limit their decline to one season with a successful draft and spending money to sign the best free agents this coming offseason?  Thanks.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:09
They will have more than $50 million to spend, but you have to remember some of that will be earmarked for guys like Minkah Fitzpatrick and maybe Diontae Johnson, who will be up for contract extensions. But yes, there will be an opportunity to improve the team through free agency.

Would Claypool have any trade value at the draft? I would prefer JuJu over Claypool next year. Claypool can’t stay on his feet.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:10
It depends on whether the acquiring team will acquiesce to his request for music to be played at practices. I hear it makes practice more fun!

If the Ravens score 16 points vs the Steelers, do the Steelers win?
If Lamarvelous Jackson throws 4 INTs vs the Steelers, do the Steelers win?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:11
Sometimes I don't know how, but the Ravens continue to win games they have no business winning. So heck no, I won't predict that. Have you seen this Steelers offense lately? (The fourth quarter of the Chargers game withstanding)

Hey Ray, I couldn’t agree more with the comments made about the current Steelers team made by Ryan Clark and Rocky Bleier and would like to know your opinion about those comments.  Thanks Ray.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:13
I agree with them. I understand the Steelers have some major injuries that have factored into their season. But there is something to be said for playing with fight. They showed little fight against the Bengals. I think it's prominent former players are speaking their mind.

We undersized ILB's can play. Most of all, Devin Bush needs more _______ to improve his performance
Ray Fittipaldo

I need experience, inner drive, heart, passion.

If you had to sign one impact free agent next year, what position would it be?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:16
I'd have to study this draft and know where the strengths and weaknesses are. Off the top of my head I'd say corner because the Steelers have not historically drafted that position well.

Ray, What is going on with the Steelers?  Is Mike Tomlin losing his team?   How can a professional football team look that lost?  I hate to think this team is really that bad.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:17
I think we'll learn a lot about this team or whether Tomlin still has their attention after the Ravens game.

I was trying to play the match game with Gene Rayburn.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:18
Ah one of my favorites. Let's see what Richard Dawson has to say.
Shane in Colrain, Mass
1:18
Should they have traded Washington when he requested a trade? He’s done nothing since then.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:19
He's been a disappointment for sure, but I am not sure Cody White is better. And I doubt they would have gotten anything more than a sixth or seventh-rounder for him.
Until this recent stretch, there was the draw of playing with a good defense. I still think the Steelers can have a good defense next season if they attack free agency well and draft well.

Besides money, what incentive does a free agent QB have to sign with the Steelers?
Ray Fittipaldo

Question to previous answer

Ray.   You could go back to when Ar2 took over and it’s been a steady decline.   From the ab/Ben drama … to the overall identity of this team.    Can’t remember a time when steelers were worst rushing defense and one of the worst rush offense.    They need to clean house  what do you think
Ray Fittipaldo
1:20
Let's see how the final six weeks play out. I would say this is the most important stretch of games during Tomlin's 15-year tenure.
Shane in Colrain, Mass

Is it smarter to go cheap by giving Mason the starting job next year and use the money on a few impact players? Or go all in on a high-priced QB to gloss over the other problems?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:22
I say build a better core around Rudolph or a rookie QB. Russell Wilson has not looked good this year. Aaron Rodgers would cost just about all of the $50 million they'll have to spend. It's time to try to win with a younger QB.

Hi Ray. I'm sort of an eternal optimist and even when they were 1-3, I was more positive than most. That being said, I've got a bad feeling that things are going to get worse before they get better. It seems like a little bit of everything is going badly and I'm afraid they might not even win another game. Am I overreacting?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:25
I've got similar feelings, but let's see how they respond on Sunday.

Your guess as to whether or not Dwayne Haskins is on the roster to start the 2022 season?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:25
My guess is yes as long as Tomlin is the coach.

Ben's performance has been subpar this season, no debate there.  That said, how many NFL starting QBs would be thriving behind this OL and throwing to this WR group?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:25
Not many.

Are Ulysees Gilbert & Justin Lane considered as "special teams" only ?. They are both in their 3rd year. What are their weaknesses that they don't see the field ?.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:26
At this point yes. Tomlin has not looked to those guys on defense, but maybe he will now.
Bernard

What is the single most disappointing aspect of this team season to date compared to your expectations coming into the season and observations at camp, etc?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:28
The continued struggles running the football. Just doesn't seem like much progress has been made.
