Welcome and let's get the chat going.

Ray, is Baker Mayfield going to be playing next Sunday. Knowing they won the game without Baker on Thurs night, do Steelers have any chance of winning even if Baker is out?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:59
I think the Steelers have a chance to win whether Mayfield plays or not. But it all starts with their ability to stop the run. If they can't then I don't see them winning. And no, I haven't seen anything from the Browns yet on his status for Sunday.

Happy Monday, do you think the Steelers will move any players for draft picks? Any surprise moves you anticipate other than Ingram?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:59
I don't really see any moves. Maybe they can trade someone who isn't playing all that much, but it won't be for a high return.

Hey Ray any truth to the trade talk involving MI ?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:01
I assume there is truth that he's not happy here. Otherwise, why would his agent leak that to the NFL Network. But I don't see why they would move him. They signed him to be a No. 3 OLB and that's what he is here. I don't think they want to make Derrick Tuszka their top reserve especially with them still being in contention.

Hey Ray that Chase kid from Cinny looks real good going to give us issues
Ray Fittipaldo
1:02
He's already given them issues. He caught the long touchdown over James Pierre just before halftime in the game at Heinz Field earlier this month. That was a huge play in the game.

Halftime reporter of Steelers Seahawks game reported Tomlin said Seahawks would open up to passing in second half and he had to stop that. Carrol told her that Seahawks needed to establish the run in the second half. Do you think Carrol had the coaching edge in the second half?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:03
Yes. Carroll had the coaching edge in the second half. Tomlin in the first half and TJ Watt outcoached everyone in overtime.

Hey Ray. Think we see Tuitt and or Davis at some point this season?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:03
Davis yes. He is practicing again. Tuitt not so sure. He is dealing with off-field issues and there is no way of knowing if he'll return.

I think Keenum will make the Browns a better team. Your thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:04
I don't know about better, but he didn't make any big mistakes in the Thursday night game. And given the option of a healthy Keenum and a banged up Mayfield the Steelers might want to face Mayfield.

Aren’t these National nfl telecasts jokes?  Why does CBS the AFCAffiliate continually do all NFC matchups while the favor is not returned by FOX?  Not to mention the blowout and the Nantz Romo snide comments about the Bears?  Then how much does Colts -49ers bring back memories of yore?  Yawn. As ursa said in Superman 2, ‘if the whole planet is watching, cannot we show them something more interesting?’
Ray Fittipaldo

Networks can begin to flex out of bad games soon, but it doesn't typically happen until later in the season.

Are the Browns overrated and the Steelers underrated? The Browns defense is not as good as the Steelers defense. Steelers could win. Agree?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:06
Could win, yes. But they can't let the Browns run the ball well.

Ray Ray- Great write up on the things the Steelers need to do to push for the postseason. Two quick hitters: What is the latest on Tuitt? AND True or False: The Steelers need to generate two+ turnovers to offset the power of the CLE running game to win this week?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:09
Mike Tomlin and Keith Butler were both asked about Tuitt last week and there is no update. He has not yet begun to practice so his 21-day window to return from IR hasn't started yet. And false, it would be nice to get at least one turnover and be ahead in the turnover margin in this game, but I don't know that being +2 is absolutely necessary.

Banner moves to RT and Chuks and Moore battle for left?  Loser inactive on game days with Haeg serving as swing tackle?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:09
I don't get the idea they're in all that much of a hurry to make Banner a starter again.

Always enjoy your chats. TY for all you do. In watching the NFL games I notice all the teams do the short passing game as the Steelers do. However, everyone likes to knock on Ben and the Steelers for doing the same thing. If the Steelers where winning would you still be hearing these cries? It seams that if the steelers catch the ball and get the YAC people wouldn't be asking for Ben to sit. I don't see all the offense woes on the QB play. Your thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:11
It's not all on the QB. I don't think anyone who knows what they're talking about has asserted that. It's a number of issues, including the lack of a consistent running game, pass protection and the receivers not making many big plays. Ben hasn't set the world on fire either. He's made some mistakes, and I think he needs to start taking better care of the ball.

Hi Ray, hope the Steelers used the bye week to "beef up" the run play book.  If we want to make best use of Najee Harris' talent, need more around-the-end run plays, more two TE sets with block downs, less up the middle runs, and draw plays and screens with Ben under center.  Old fashioned Steelers run game with pulling guards/tackles and trap plays have always been a staple.  Your thoughts?  Thank you very much!
Ray Fittipaldo

A more consistent running game would definitely help the cause. It
It's been a little better lately and that improvement has to continue

Ray, I haven't understood from the beginning why 2021 needed to be dedicated to Ben's Last Hurrah but every week we see more evidence that Ben's Last Hurrah sailed years ago. Folks such as yourself looking for "A better version of Ben" should go to the NFL films archives. Sorry but that is the truth.
Ray Fittipaldo

They can get a better version of Ben simply him making better decisions. I know he's not magically turn into 2014 Ben, but he can be better if he throws the ball away more and doesn't turn the ball over as much.

Hi Ray, it was reported in a local paper that teams were interested on Melvin Ingram.  If true, do you know if the Steelers were considering trading him and what was being offered in return?  Thanks.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:15
The NFL Network reported he was among some players who might be dealt. His agent likely doesn't like his role here. Alex Highsmith played 100% of the snaps against the Seahawks. It's an agent trying to make some buzz about his client. Ingram remains the Steelers' top reserve at OLB despite his lack of recent playing time.

Can we expect to see a Najee's role in the offense continue to increase and Ben's decrease? It feels like that would be best for this team and the offense overall.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:16
I think Ben would like to see that happen, but a lot depends on Harris and his linemen to be more consistent than they have been.

Who do you think is our biggest worry in the North?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:17
Has to be the Bengals after yesterday, right? They beat the Ravens, 41-17, on the road and lead the division at the moment with a game in hand on the Steelers.

Two questions that come from viewing other teams this weekend while our Steelers were resting.
Ray Fittipaldo

Maybe this was just a bad weekend to watch games, but it seems like there are some good team and then a whole batch of bad teams out there.

Hi Ray.  One of your "five points" to excel in the AFC North was the return of Tuitt.  Have you heard any rumours re: his possible return before the end of the season? Thanks.

I have not. His teammates say they are hopeful when they
