Can you share placement statistics for MSE robotics graduates. I have already submitted my application. And will there be job fairs for internships and jobs during the program
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist

Ridhi, thanks for your questions. We Had 600 applicants last year and admitted 16%. We do offer job fairs throughout the year and a career services office that can assist you with jobs and internships as well.

Hi, I have submitted my application on 15th December 2019. In my application status I can still see Gre score required although I have sent scores a month back. I had sent GRE and TOEFL both the scores on the same day, but in the status only TOEFL is checked in not GRE. Please let me know if anything is needed to be done by my side.

Hi Palas Tiwade, can you please tell me to which program have you applied?
Jim

Hi I have taken a data structure course, 1 python course, 1 C++ course. I am planning to find a job in software development or data science field. Should I apply for this program?  I have heard that this program only accept students with little or no programming experience. I know little about Operation System, Computer networks, software development so I am obviously not able to be a good developer . However, am I overqualified for the MCIT program?

Hi Jim, I can't say definitively whether or not you are overqualified for the program. The program is designed for those that do not have a degree in CIS/CS, so in that since you are not over-qualified.

Hello, Will. I have two questions regarding the application.
Hello, Will. I am applying for the M.S. program in Robotics. I have two questions regarding the application. 1) May I upload my Curriculum Vitae which details my industry and research experience instead of a resume? 2) How could I check whether the admissions office has received my IELTS and GRE scores?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:08
Liang Li, thank you for your questions - yes, you can upload a CV instead of a resume. Once your application is submitted we have an automatic matching system that matches your GRE scores if they have been sent to us. As for the IELTS, those scores are usually scanned in from the paper copy we receive and uploaded to your application. We don't accept electronic IELTS scores at this time.

Hi, I am applying for MSE in MEAM program and I am wondering if this program can have a dual degree option with MSE in robotics after I have enrolled?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:08
Xinyuan, yes, you can. You can apply to add a second degree after you've completed at least one semester in good academic standing.

What is the timeline for hearing back for the MSE Robotics application due Feb 1?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist

Hi Dan, you can see the timeline for decisions to be released here: https://gradadm.seas.upenn.edu/how-to-apply/

I have 2 yrs of work experience in cloud and data solutions. I wish to work as a data scientist in future. I am thinking of applying in MSE Data science. But i don't hold any publications. Does it affect my application?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:11
Pranjal, we take a holistic approach to the review, so we will look at the entire application. While having publication experience is a good thing, not having it may not severely impact your chances of admission.

Hi Will! I have 2 questions. 1. I sent new GRE score to UPenn, will it automatically replace my old score? I applied to MCIT in first round, and I will apply to another program later. How can I make sure the school use my new GRE score instead of my old score in regular round?  2. Do you know when will the decision come out on 1.15? In the morning or in the afternoon? Thanks!
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:14
Linghao, thank you for your questions. If you send a new score it will not replace the old score, but it will be uploaded to the application. If your application is already under review, we can't guarantee that the new score will be considered, especially as you applied early. If you are applying to a different program in the regular round, we recommend just putting your most recent scores on your application when you submit it. As for when the decision will be released, it will be throughout the day. I'm sorry, but I can't give you a specific time, however it will be done during our business hours, 9AM-5PM EST.

If Penn abides by the April 15 resolution, how are some decision dates after April 15?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:15
Hi Dan, great question! The April 15 resolution is for programs that give out financial aid as part of their admission. As such, we do our best to abide by it for our PhD programs, but we don't give out financial aid for master's admissions, so they don't fall under the April 15 resolution.

Thanks Will! Also, can you let me know about the avg GPA, GRE and TOEFL scores for which candidates were offered admission in the past ( in MSE Data Science)?

I am applying for MBE, would I be able to change my track once in the program?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:17
Hi guest, yes, you are able to apply to transfer to a different program after you have completed at least one semester in good academic standing in your original program.

Hi, Will. I plan to apply for MS in Data Science in this week. I have checked the decision would be released on March 15. I would like to know that whether or not the program is rolling, and if I submit my application today, is it possible to receive the application decision earlier? Thanks for your time!
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:20
Hi Tian Yun, Decisions are not really rolling. Instead, we have a series of dates that they will be released, based on if you apply prior to the Nov 15 early deadline or the March 15 regular deadline. If you apply by the March 15 deadline, then there are a series of days when you may receive the decision, and they are listed here: https://gradadm.seas.upenn.edu/how-to-apply/

Hello, my name is Seong Jae Park and I am preparing to apply for the Biotechnology major (MBIOT) before March 15th, which is a regular deadline. I saw there are two deadlines for this major (early deadline and regular deadline). Would you please tell me the difference? Is there any possibility that all the caps are filled with the early deadline applicants that there will be no more space left for the regular deadline applicants? Thank you!
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:23
Hi Seong Jae Park. The different is that the early deadline usually has a smaller group of applicants and they will receive their decisions on either Jan 15 or Feb 15. No, we won't fill all of the seats from the early pool. But there will be less seats overall, especially when compared to the amount of applications we will receive.

I have a GRE score of 155 Quant and 144 verbal with 64.3% undergrad in Computer science. Will I be considered for an admission to MS in Scientific Computing?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:24
Hi Guest, we take a holistic approach to the review process for applicants, so these are only a few of the factors that will be considered. That being said, if your 64.3% is out of 100%, that would be fairly low.
Krystal
10:23
Hi Will, can you please share the applicant number and the acceptance rate for the MCIT and Data Science program? Thanks.
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:25
Hi Krystal, sure thing! Last year we had 1107 applicants for the DATS program and admitted approximately 9%. We had 554 applicants for the mcit on campus program and admitted approximately 14%.

Still, the reason for low performance is purely personal and does bot reflect my actual skills. I have completed over 52 specializations on Coursera related to Machine learning and Data science. I really want to pursue MS in Scientific Computing from University of Pennsylvania. Should I still apply or reconsider as my chances are fairly low.
