OK, kids, after a brief siesta, we are back and ready to go....Fire!!

Although enjoying the rise of the Duck Army, I remain a cautious skeptic. I am however, pretty cashed out on Mason Rudolph. Even to the layman, he seems to display terrible mechanics, is devoid of situational awareness, and just doesn't seem to bring anything to the game. Why so much sycophantic ceremony surrounding him?
Steelers Insider
11:05
Such well-crafted sentence structure and word usage. Should put a byline on that one. To your point, Rudolph might have damaged his long-term prognosis as a future post-Ben starter. But I don't think this is the end for him, despite your forecast

Why are all the PG articles involving the Steelers now “nameless” regarding the author?
Steelers Insider
11:06
The Newspaper Guild union at the paper is staging a byline strike to bring attention to its plight for work-place and medical-coverage fairness

Good morning!  So happy to see these chats returning.  I look forward to them everyday.  Do you think JuJu will be more productive when he returns now that Washington (maybe) is becoming a legitimate deep threat?  In addition to Johnson improving, positive strides with Tevin Jones, and an improving running game with Snell, will our offense start to become more balanced and dare I say, effective?
Steelers Insider
11:07
I think the good part about the injuries to JuJu and Conner is that is has allowed Washington and Snell to show they are players who are can be big contributors. Washington has done it in a BIG way.

2020 Draft - in what order do you feel we need to select players by position?  OLB priority #1?
Steelers Insider
11:10
Not if they keep Bud Dupree of course. The draft, to me, should and will be offensive heavy for a change, though there is no No. 1 or No. 3 pick right now. There are no positions on the defense that need immediately addressed, but, if they keep Dupree, the first defensive player to be selected should be a defensive lineman for depth. But I think the top pick will be WR, a fast RB or a big-time tight end.

Do you honestly, truly think that Bud, who hadn't been as bad as many would have you believe,  just coincidentally  found 5th gear in his final year before free agency, or was he not taking his job seriously enough until 2019?
Steelers Insider
11:11
I don't think for a moment that he wasn't taking his job seriously. THAT was never an issue.
Courtney
11:11
Duck's playing well but made 4-5 boneheaded decisions. Thoughts on that?
Steelers Insider
11:11
Of course he did. And he's going to make more.  HE'S A ROOKIE!!!!!
Jared
11:11
Any chance the offense is opened up from the get go versus the Cards or are more 3 and outs expected?
Steelers Insider
11:14
Do you know when the Steelers finally turned the offense over to Ben??? In 2005 postseason, well into his second season. You think that's going to change with Duck after two starts? Even Rudolph? They are not going to "open up the playbook" all of a sudden. They will take the same methodical approach. Don't forget this: They are not asking Duck or Rudolph to win the game; they are asking them not to lose it. Got it.

How in the world does the qb get called for a false start?
Steelers Insider
11:14
I'm still not sure. Second most ridiculous call after the Dupree roughing the passer penalty
Lauren
11:14
Who are the starting 3 wr's right now? They seem to be all over the place with JjSS out?
Steelers Insider
11:15
Very simple: Washington, Johnson and whatever WR fits the package they send on the field , whether Jones, Hilton or Cain.
Megan
11:15
Pounce back at center now. Any chance Finney takes over for Foster to help the run game?
Steelers Insider
11:15
None, unless he gets hurt.

What's the situation with the newspaper strike and why does it matter if your name's on the chat? Anonymous is weird.
Steelers Insider
11:16
As long as you know it's me

Has Bush been phased out on D? He barely seems to play anymore.
Steelers Insider
11:18
No, they're just rotating their ILBs depending on situations. While his snap count has declined a little, he still played 74 percent of the snaps against the Browns. Bush and Mark Barron still play the majority of the time. Vince Williams is the one who doesn't play nearly as much as he has.

Any chance Pitt franchises DuPree or Hargrave for next season or signs via a regular contract?
Steelers Insider
11:22
I think there is a better chance they would franchise Dupree because they should be able to re-sign Hargrave to a reasonable deal to keep him from free agency. Dupree will get a big offer in free agency, based on the way he's playing and the market for edge rushers. The Steelers wouldn't match that, so they could use a franchise tag on him, even though that will cost them a lot for one year. Problem is, if you let him go, now you have to use your high pick in the draft on an OLB. And you're not going to find many difference makers at that position after the first round.

Who starts at rb this week? Snell? Conners? Samuels?
Steelers Insider
11:22
Not Conner. Depends on the package
Mary
11:22
Baker lit up Pitt with his legs in the first game. What did Pitt do different in game 2 to contain him? Kyler can fly.
Steelers Insider
11:24
Murray is a different QB than Mayfield. He will run to run. They have designed plays for him. Mayfield will run only if he has nothing open. He moves and rolls to get out of the pocket and extend plays. Different styles. As for your question, the Steelers wanted to keep Mayfield for escaping the pocket to his throwing arm, which they did better after the first couple series.

Dear Anonymous Steelers Insider - out of necessity with Connor being in and out of the lineup Tomlin and Fichtner have gone with a running back by committee approach.  Do you think they'll continue this when Connor returns?  I think the fresh backs and unique skill sets of Snell, Samuels, and Whyte has really helped our slight offensive turnaround.  What say you?
Steelers Insider
11:25
Dear Questioner, yes I do. But I think instead of 4 backs, it will be more Conner-Samuels-Snell. It has been working so why stop.
Michele
11:25
Cards pass D is horrible. 30-40 throws for Duck this game or more of the same conservative stuff?
Steelers Insider
11:26
Yes they are, worst in the league. But, trust me, they don't want him throwing that much unless they get behind in the second half.
Kurt
11:26
With the unnecessary newspaper strike driven by greed, will any beat writers be covering the game in person? Fittipaldo? Dulac? The rookie?
Steelers Insider
11:27
We all still travel and cover the game. Nothing has changed.
WVU Mason

Who would be your Steelers offensive skill player of the year, since they've all been mediocre at best?
Steelers Insider
11:27
Right now....James Washington

At this time, it really looks like we are going to lose Bud next year to free agency. Who replaces him at this point in time?
