On Perfetti – if that's what both sides wanted, I'd say so. I think a long-term deal would come in around $5-$5.5MM, and they've got closer to $6MM in projected space for this season with a full roster.

And Darnell Nurse is miles worse than Seth Jones, at least at this point in time. Yes, the latter is overpaid, but he's been a true first-pairing threat in Chicago and has shouldered an impossible task pretty well. He's averaged 0.55 points per game over the last three years after the trade. Ignore the +/-... goaltending's been much too spotty in Chitown the past few years to take it into account.

He's also never been a below-average possession player at even strength once in his career, at least in terms of shot attempts. Nurse produces less on a better team and had the worst relative possession metrics since his rookie season in more sheltered usage last season.

Even with a small return coming back, I think Oilers need to dump a first-round pick to get rid of the deal *with* salary retention. It's ugly.

And any move for the Canucks would need to be money-in, money-out. They're capped out and have been clear about not wanting to put Poolman on LTIR this season.

You and me both. Kaliyev's on his way out, and they needed an offensively-inclined replacement. Otherwise, that bottom six really doesn't have much to offer in terms of offensive upside aside from Foegele.

They have $8.6MM left in space with a full roster. I disagree with the sentiment from NHL.com's Dan Rosen this AM that he could land a deal in the $9MM AAV range. Without a track record as an unsheltered starter, I'm not sure I imagine him getting above $7MM annually on any length of deal.

I think it gets done at four years, $6.75MM per. Allows him to cash in again when he's still on the right side of 30.

But they don't have any options. Trading Ullmark made him the guy. There's no scenario in which they don't get a deal done, imo.

They'll move who they need to move.

Maybe, if they didn't give too much money and term to Yakov Trenin. $3.5MM for a fourth-line guy is just mind-boggling. And assuming they use him on the wing, that's the role he'll play. He's not passing guys like Foligno or Hartman on the depth chart.

That's an immediate overpay.

If it took *this* long to sign and he got less than $1MM (and signed with a Canadian team, no less), I'd say no. That's likely the best deal he got.

Reading between the lines, I'd guess the comment by his agent the other day that he's still receiving NHL interest is a ruse to up the offers he's getting in Russia. I still think he heads back to the KHL.

Lyon could probably fetch you a second-rounder at that nice $900K cap hit. Husso, even with one year left, you're probably paying to offload at a $4.75MM cap hit after last year's showing.

Is there any chance that Dominik Kubalik will get a new one way NHL contract?

I'd think so. Last year in OTT was obviously nightmarish, but he'd had 15+ goals in the four years prior. Still managed 11 this year despite playing probably the worst hockey of his life. It may be after a PTO, but I'd find it hard to imagine that every team in the league thinks he's an AHL-caliber player right now.

Yes. Although I don't think he'll last particularly long, and it won't be for off-ice reasons. His recent track record in Chicago was far less promising than the Oilers were touting in their materials today.

What is a fair trade offer for Laine with NO Retension?

He's got two years left at $8.7MM. If I'm a contender, that's too much of a gamble based on last year, even if I'm personally confident he'll rebound. I don't think there are any offers if they're not willing to retain, to be frank. Don't see how that makes sense for a rebuilder, either, since Columbus doesn't desperately need to shed cap.

Now we're talking. For a guy who's produced 0.91 points per game combined over the past three seasons in first-line usage, a $4.35MM cap hit is definitely a bargain. It depends on how teams come away from discussions with him after he exits the assistance program, but I'd expect a second-rounder and a pretty decent prospect.
