OK let’s get started
Spazeroski
12:09
Isn’t it time to sit Polanco, Frazier, Osuna (dome deal now) and let Craig and others at Altoona play everyday?
Zeise
12:09
Well that’s tough to do because they are all under contract and they are all capable of playing at a decent level when they get hot. I don’t think that’s the way to go
Spazeroski
12:10
Wouldn’t the Steelers be best to put Duck on the practice squad knowing he won’t be claimed? They can always use one of the two game day activations if they think three qbs is the way to go. That way they could protect a guy who might be claimed, assuming there is someone.?
Zeise
12:11
If he won’t be claimed then they could cut him again. I’m not sure they need to keep four quarterbacks though so someone will need to go
Mike
12:11
Bucs are now 10-24 and they are more than probably out of the playoffs. Why aren't they bringing up prospects (other than Hayes) and playing them every day to see what they have?I would love to see Will Craig and Oneil Cruz, among others, get every day shots for the rest of the season.
Zeise
12:13
They aren’t necessarily ready to play. I mean I would think they would be up already. As I just said - the best players on the roster need to play

What do you think of Governor Wolf’s “allowing” 250 people to attend high school sporting events ( includes teams, coaches, staff, etc) leaving practically no room for players parents?
Zeise
12:16
I think it is absurd. Like really absurd that we are allowing this nonsense to go on. Why can there be 5,000 protestors walking down Grant street it whatever. But we can’t have 50 fans in the stands. It is ridiculous
REID
12:17
I think the 250 spectators allowed to attend Sporting events is silly, and arbitrary just like many of other governor walls decisions. How does it make sense to allow over over 900 people in An indoor compacted super center store but only allow 250 in a huge football stadium like Heinz Field or even a high school stadium with several thousand seats? OUTDOORS! And with a MASK!!!!!
Zeise
12:17
Again, we are the dummies that have allowed this governor and county executive to get away with this crap. We need to push back and hard. The hypocrisy is disgusting

Looks like Alford of the Pirates might be a nice pick up. Do we still give Polanco the rest of the year to hit .150? I know they are paying him big bucks but it is really hard to watch him strike out every other at bat.
Zeise
12:18
Unfortunately they have to hope they get something out of Polanco this year.
Harry
12:18
It makes sense to play Gregory Polanco in hopes he'll start hitting given the season the Pirates are having. But how long is the leash? The end of this season? Next spring training? Some of next season?
Zeise
12:19
I probably would keep running him out there every day as a DH. He has no value in the field
Amanda
12:19
I still haven't forgotten about you and Walls laughing about drinking on tv. Great examples for the children Paul. Not! You should be ashamed but it's obvious you two are not.
Zeise
12:19
It is Walsh. And please change your name to Karen

Paul ,Bell had a decent couple of games last week and is back to .200 again. He stunk last night and isn't even in the lineup this afternoon. All my buddies refer to him as Pedro 2.0. Shouldn't the Pirates have trades him for anybody? I'm afraid by the time middle of next season comes around during the trade deadline they won't be able to get a bag of balls for him! Thoughts?
Zeise
12:26
They have to hope he gets hot and has a stretch where he looks like he did last May. And then once he does, he will be easily traded
Edgar
12:26
IMO Shelton has been an unmitigated disaster so far. Not only are his weird lineups mostly unproductive along with his in-game managing, this team looks worse in fundamentals than they did under Clint Hurdle. What the heck did they emphasize in spring training because they all seem totally clueless out there. Do you agree?
Zeise
12:28
I don’t like his lineups at all. I think they make no sense at all. I think he has been Ok trying to figure out what to do with that mess of a bullpen he has. It is his first season he will be fine when he has better pieces to work with
Jeff
12:28
Bryan Reynolds was batting .080 in his past 15 games before he went on paternity leave. He is hitting under .200 for the season. He seems lost and I am starting to worry he was a 1 hit wonder. He tailed off at the end of last season too hitting .200 in September. You gotta wonder if it's the Pirates awful coaching not maximizing his potential(a common theme with this organization in recent years) or he was really never as good as we thought. What do you think?
Zeise
12:29
Yes he could be the Sir Mix A lot of baseball players. I do think he is a good baseball player that had a bad year. I feel like it is a sophomore slump
Bert
12:30
Would now be the time to try to bring back Lonnie Chisenhall?
Zeise
12:30
Why not!!! Is he in the witness protection program though?
Confused
12:30
Why is dingbat Amanda bothering you?
Zeise
12:30
Her name is Karen
We have more questions right?!
Danny
12:31
Is Rick Eckstein on the hot sear
Zeise
12:33
He should be. This team is not hitting, they can’t get out of slumps, the prospects and young guys have struggled. Someone needs to take the fall!
Jeff
12:35
Hey Paul serious question for you. Why did Bob Nutting destroy a 98 win team after the 2015 and start shedding payroll? 5 years later and it still makes absolutely no sense. Why didn't he try and build on that? We were so close!
Zeise
12:38
It was really tough for Pirates fans to watch that team not get built on. But again that costs money and, well, do we really need to discuss all that?

I spoke with a Toronto Maple Leaf insider about our trade for our first round draft pick and he claims that the Leafs fleeced the Pens on the deal. I think any infusion of speed on any of our top three lines would be a bonus while the 15th pick would be more of a hope and a prayer and a crapshoot for that player to make it to our team within 2 to 3 years. Pens have a window of 2 to 3 years to get it done and I think it was a good trade. What do you think?
Zeise
12:41
I think time will tell on a trade like that. The Pens are looking to win now and if that deal makes them better the next two years it doesn’t matter what they gave up. The window is all that matters
Danny
12:42
You ever wonder if a guy like Polanco was in a different organization he would have thrived? I mean there was soooooo much hype for him in the minors and being called up. And then slowly he looked worse and worse and worse. He was considered a 5 tool player I remember. He shouldn't be this bad. Bell was a consistent. 300 hitter in the minors and now can't hit his own weight. You gotta put some blame with the coaches right? This should not be happening like this.
Zeise
12:43
I don’t know. He has a swing that is going to be inconsistent. He has a good arm but no real instincts to play the field. He has never gotten better at decision making on the base paths either. It is frustrating to watch him
Gus
12:43
I cannot stand Michael Mckenry as a color man for the Bucs. Nice guy I'm sure but he sounds like a 12 year old kid needing attention from anyone who will listen. Is this the best the Pirates can do?
Zeise
12:44
He is still learning and working at it. He will get better. It isn’t as easy to do as it looks. Just give him time and he will refine

I’m worried that the D line and the inside linebacker lack of depth could really hurt the Steelers this year. Any injuries or Covid quarantines could make our D look like it did at the end of last year when teams gashed them on inside runs! Should we try to pick off a couple of cuts from other teams to address the depth issues or roll with what we have?
Zeise
12:47
Yes I agree with that. The inside linebacker depth is not good. And I think they are probably in the market or should be for a depth defensive lineman. That’s probably what they need to shore up but other than that this should be a good team
