Are you confident with LT Chucks and RT Banner as our starting tackles? If I were BB, I would demand an upgrade at LT spot. What can we do about this situation?
Zeise
12:06
Banner will be fine. Okorafor is a big question so I don’t know that I’m confident in him but I do think he will be an upgrade over Villanueva
David
12:06
It looks like the Steelers will have a boatload of cap space in 2022. What would be our blueprint with this cap space that we have never had in recent years?
Zeise
12:08
Well whatever the number is subtract about $50 million because they have to sign Watt and Fitzpatrick. They won’t go out and go on a spending spree, they will use it on their own guys.
Joe Block
12:08
Am I the most boring play by play guy in baseball?
Zeise
12:09
No I don’t think so. You do a good job and frankly you are a very nice guy
Jeff

Thanks Paul for the chats.  Well now what do I do!  Pirates suck, Pens out again and Steelers are months away.  Only 2 golf majors left, NBA unwatchable.  I actually find myself watching womans college softball!  Any other suggestions to help occupy my time away from work?
Zeise
12:10
Well you could take up golf, go to the Y and play hoops, spend time with family, watch Swamp People, Bar Rescue and Pawn Stars like me!

Do you think Okorafor has the skills to be an upgrade over Villanueva and handle the position beyond this season?
Zeise
12:11
As I just said - this is something we will find out soon enough. I don’t know how anyone could have that answer
Mike
12:11
Any indication that Carter will return next season?
Zeise
12:12
It seems like he wants to come back and it seems like the Pens - Hextall - want him here so I would say, yes
Buster

Steelers and Pens undone by Pouncey’s snap at the beginning of a playoff game and Jarry’s misplay of the puck at the end of one. Which was the bigger gaffe?
Zeise
12:14
Wow. I will say it like this - the Steelers still had 59 minutes to recover frkm
From Pouncey snap. The Pens lost on Jarry’s gaffe. So I will say Jarry’s boneheaded turnover in overtime was a bigger gaffe
Dan
12:15
Bigger underachievers the last ten years - Penguins or Steelers? I say Steelers, but it's close.  The Pens have a couple of Cups, but also enormous talent.  Thoughts?
Zeise
12:16
It is hard to make a case that the Pens are bigger underachievers the last ten years because of those two Cups. The Steelers have been a non-factor since they lost to Green Bay
Mike
12:16
Next Pirate to be inducted in hall of fame?
Zeise
12:18
Well since it won’t be Gregory Polanco, I will say Kumar Rocker!
SDWC
12:18
The day after the the Penguins won their 2nd consecutive cup in 2017, I actually thought they were done.  Teams with aging superstars don't win in that sport after age 30, if a casual fan could see that, why couldn't their hockey people who have been in the game their whole careers see it, and move on appropriately?
Zeise
12:19
It is very hard to move on from a core group of players that has been so successful. I have no issue with them holding on and trying to get one more run out of them. But it is over

If the Buccos can't deal Polanco and lose him in free agency next year, are compensatory draft picks awarded to them?  Since "Prospecting" is their preferred business model, it may be better to keep him.
Zeise
12:26
I’m not sure there would be compensation for him. I’m not sure exactly how that works with a guy on an expiring contract. I know they have to pay him $3 million to buy out the last option year
roy
12:28
in speaking of TJ, do you think he really is worth $27~30 per year? I don't think any OLB is worth that amount as $22~23M might be a fair number. do you know anything about his agent as I sure hope TJ doesn't have Drew Rosenhaus as his agent?
Zeise
12:31
Myles Garret I think got like $26 million a year so that will be a starting point. I would not pay him that much, I think he will be the kind of player whose body breaks down and he is injured a lot, like his brother. When you play that violently and that hard all the time your body takes a beating
Mike
12:31
Will Antonio Brown go into the hall of fame as a steeler?
Zeise
12:36
I think he is a Hall of Famer but there is a lot of legitimate questions about whether the voters agree and won’t let his nuttiness keep him out. That being said, if he does get elected I could see him going in as a Tampa Buc and having Tom Brady present him
Ryan
12:36
Good afternoon Paul what changes do you think the penguins make during the off season
Zeise
12:37
Not many. They are stubborn like that. They may go find a new goalie but that’s about it. I don’t see them breaking up the corps and moving on from Sullivan so other than that what real changes are there?
Bernard
12:37
More impressive, Mickelson or Niklaus?
Zeise
12:38
I would say Mickelson. He was four years older when he won his and the fields are much deeper now than they were back then
Bernard
12:38
Niklaus, Griffin, Owens and Kyle Snyder would be on tOSU Mt Rushmore.  Who, after Dorsett and Marino, would you put on Pitt's version of Mt. Rushmore?
Zeise
12:38
Hugh Green and Ditka

paul., do you think the steelers will be "throwing" away a year of talent with a dead arm, old, over weight qb who only can throw the ball 4 yards down field?
Zeise
12:39
No I don’t, but they need to play right based on the limitations of their quarterback. And if they do, and play good defense, they can have a successful season
Bernard
12:40
Jesse Owens and Marcus Allen seem to get a disproportionate amount of attention from Steelers fans - it that due to the PSU connection?  No real reason otherwise given their overall impact on the field.
Zeise
12:40
They do? That’s news to me

Paul, the duldrums of the off-season. Speculation... goes to 11. I, for one, feel the more doubt there is about this team, the better. Be hunters, not the hunted. Do you agree with this? How many times have we believed our own hype and been let down?
Zeise
12:40
They are 3-7 in their last ten playoff games. I think they should worry about playing good football and stop worrying what everyone else is saying about them
