Lets get it started
Mel Kiper
12:03
Paul, the first round I was only 6 for 32 on my surefire draft picks. The worst ever! Have I lost it? Tell me, should I retire & get on with my life's work then?
Zeise
12:04
Well I didn't see your mock drafts but I am going to guess you overvalued the quarterbacks, undervalued receivers and didn't realize so many teams would be looking to trade. So relax, nobody takes you seriously anyway. What was the executives name that said "who the hell is Mel Kiper"
Vanessa

Im getting worried about how poorly Cole is doing.  Will he last with the Pirates? I  may need to dump him if he doesn't.
Zeise
12:05
Ha ha. I have no idea why he is still being put out there every day. He is a good fielder when he plays in the infield but he isn't a good outfielder and he can't hit. I know he is a first rounder and seems like a really nice guy but dude can't play a lick

Should the Pirate's starting pitchers start to eat spicy pork and broccoli before games?
Zeise
12:06
Hey if it works for third string goalies, why not??

Hi Paul, do you think that Pitt can withstand losing Jordan Addison to still have a special receiving corps? I do. Basically, Jared Wayne and Konata Mumpfield will be hungry to prove something, not to mention Barden et al. Obviously, Addison would make things tons easier, but I think 10 wins or more is still a possibility if he leaves.
Zeise
12:08
I actually think if there were two positions Pitt could lose someone and be fine it was receiver and running back. Obviously losing your star isn't ideal but the receiving corps is deep and has a few other guys who can break open games

With an increasing number of "cord cutters" and limited access of AT&T sportsnet (only Direct Tv app and Fubu tv) why don't the Pirates have their own app and charge the same $6-10 a month that is added to cable bills to pay for it?
Zeise
12:09
That seems like a plan to me. The problem is - who is going to pay $8 a month to watch the Pirates exclusively!!

Forget about why the Steelers drafted Pickett No. 1 and why they didn't get a nose tackle. I want to know how Zeise was identifying the picks a minute before they were made! Are you on Roger Goodell's speed dial?
Zeise
12:10
Ha ha. The secret to my success was I was on the air with Dorin Dickerson and he has a mole somewhere and was giving out the picks. It was incredible how he scooped the entire world on every pick
Johnny Majors
12:11
What is your best guess as to what's going to happen with Addison. Gone? Staying?
Zeise
12:12
I think he will end up at USC. That is just my guess. I think a lot of this other stuff - Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, maybe back to Pitt - is a smoke screen in order to try and make the look of tampering go away. That's just my guess, though, and I could be wrong

Could the Pirates actually not finish last in the NL Central? Is Cincinnati really as bad as they've looked?
Zeise
12:12
Cincinnati is atrocious. If the Pirates finish behind them they should fold the franchise because it is over. Cincinnati will struggle to win 55 games

Paul, why not have NCAA athletes sign player service contracts stipulating to conditions of employment, total compensation, and length of service that mutually bind each other to honor such...After all, they are essentially both sports revenue institutions and professional athletes respectively...Please provide your thoughts on this matter? Thanks Bro!!!
Zeise
12:16
Because doing it that way would bring all kinds of other issues into the discussion. They would then be employees and I am not sure that would serve anyone. One thing I do think that should happen - since everyone wants to try compare student-athletes to coaches with regards to movement and things - is players who receive NIL deals should have to pay their own scholarship. So if you get a 300,000 per year NIL deal and your scholarship is worth say 60,000 per year, you now get 240,000 of your deal and the 60,000 goes to the school for your scholarship. That's how the real world works

Hi Paul. I might be in goal tonight & if I win again, I want the whole town to serenade me with "Louie Louie, oh no no no, me gotta go (in the net) yeah yeah yeah yeah..." Like the song goes. What do you think, Paul? Practice is now over. Going to go now try & sample some better NYC cuisine for lunch now ...... going in ......
Zeise
12:16
If you win tonight's game you will become a folk hero in this town. Too bad once Jarry is healthy you will go back to Wilkes Barre never to be heard from again!

Doesn't the NCAA have to enforce a no-tampering rule involving NIL recruiting? What's happening with Addison isn't much different than the bag men giving the SMU players Trans Ams and thousands of dollars in the '80s, and SMU football was disbanded a couple of years by the NCAA in the aftermath.
Zeise
12:18
The problem is proving contact. If an unsanctioned booster called his agent or someone in his family that can be very, very hard to trace and prove. There needs to be better and more strict laws on the books about contact for sure but it isn't going to be easy to enforce

Chances the Pens can win this Rangers series with the third-string goalie?
Zeise
12:20
Anything can happen I suppose but I think it will be really difficult to do over a long series. He could get hot and surprise us but I wouldn't bet it

Ron Hextall and Brian Burke couldn't be too happy watching Ryan Reaves pancake the Penguins during the first period Tuesday. Sure, the Pens won, but they lost a top six forward and almost lost a third of their defensemen in the process. Tougher team next year, or will "Just Play" still rule the day?
Zeise
12:21
I think Burke and Hextall are going to try and remake this team over the next few years. They won't be goons but they will not be a team that gets pushed around

Hi Paul, Loudermilk showed good progress last year. I've got a feeling he will come in a bit heavier and stronger and be a good contributor. What do you see for his development?
Zeise
12:21
They need him to develop and they need him to take the next step. I don't know that he will be a superstar but I do think he has some talent and could be a good player for the Steelers.
Little Red Machine
12:21
What do you think happens in Oakland with the A's? New stadium or not? Stay or go?
Zeise
12:23
They have to go. They have to either start operating like a team that really cares about winning. I love that they have 3000 people a night there. They should move, though, as that market isn't going to support and sustain that team
Utah Jim
12:23
Can the Steelers hire whoever is in charge of the Pens challenges?
Zeise
12:24
I know, right, they never seem to lose these challenges. And their ability to win challenges have seemingly won at least two or three playoff games for them. It is amazing. It is the polar opposite of the Steelers.

Hey Paul. Why are all the fans turning on me so much lately? I hear trade him asap. What is asap? I'm trying my um ... best. They trot me out there everyday, they say I'm such a show pony. Is that good or bad? Should I cut off all my hair for good luck, you think?
Zeise
12:25
I don't care what you do with your hair style. I just want you to learn how to hit!!

12:25
Paul, do the Steelers add anyone in the short term or do you think it will be closer to when camp starts?   What do you think they would potentially look too add?
Zeise
12:27
They will add one more corner. It could actually turn out to be Joe Haden, in a similar situation to Terrell Edmunds. Haden is looking for work, the Steelers may get him on a drastically reduced salary. I think they could add a defensive lineman as well if Tuitt decides not to play.

12:27
Hello Paul. Do you know if this paper is for sale.
Zeise
12:28
I do not. Are the Pirates for sale?
Bob Nutting
12:28
I want to thank all the tens & tens of fans who have come to the home games so far. Rest assured I still made payroll.
