Hey folks, welcome to our little Newsarama Infinity War experiment. We'll see if anyone joins us to talk about the film. There is certainly a ton to talk about. But maybe everyone's off seeing it again.

Let's see if anyone has any questions...

Is this just chat, or is there a video element to it?

Just a chat Joshua

Do you think we'll get Adam Warlock in the second part since he's already been hinted and the fact he was cut from this first act?
michael doran
9:05
heya Lan. I always get the impression from Marvel Studios at the end of the day, the gatekeepers of the different properties win out. It looks like James Gunn may have some big picture plans for Adam Warlock. I'd expect his story to continue in GotG3.

Why is teenage groot acting exactly like my wife's nephews?
michael doran
9:07
Did you buy them a Defender handheld for Christmas?
George Marston

I was thinking about this earlier. I agree with Mike, with the caveat that there is a years long gap built into the story, between Vol 2 and Infinity War, so there's a bit of a backdoor if they really wanted to bring him in.
Joshua

He would be sweet, but it's a lot to establish this new character in the middle of everything else that will be going on.  I think they are planning to use Captain Marvel heavily in part 2 and as a big part of what comes after.
michael doran
9:09
Interesting part of the credit scene was how relatively obscure the Captain Marvel reference was. I saw a lot of confused reactions to it at the public screening I went to Thursday night.
George Marston

I tend to think Skrulls will be the next Hydra-type universal presence in the MCU.
michael doran
9:10
But yeah, it looks like Captain Marvel is going to be a huge key to Avengers 4. That puts a LOT riding on ow fans reaction to Captain Marvel in the spring.
George Marston
9:10
Saw some folks asking if it was a Wonder Woman reference on Twitter. I expect a big marketing push to correct that soon...

Who's got a theory on how the green suit and the current costume play into things?
George Marston
9:12
I have a feeling the green costume is more directly Kree related, given the origins of the color scheme.
Maybe a SWORD suit?
Joshua

What do you think the odds are they will tease the next big bad/event by the end of Avengers 4? Anyone else hoping for Secret Invasion?
George Marston
9:14
Secret Invasion is possible, if the Skrulls become a thing. I think that'll require a big name Skrull reveal in Captain Marvel though. Mike may have more thoughts on that.
michael doran
9:15
Thought about this some over the weekend. I think Avengers 4 is going to have to be as final as final an MCU movie can be. Marvel Studios DID sort of play fast and loose with the TRUE nature of Infinity War. I think the have to deliver fans as true an ending as the can and not immediately seed the next decade-long throughline...
Thoughts George?

Also a question: Hulk was featured a lot in every trailer, what made them cut him out? Seems weird to me
michael doran
9:15
I think that was purposeful misdirection Lan.
George Marston
9:16
I think it was a bait and switch, like Thanos' gauntlt missing some gems
Mike, I agree with your Avengers 4 assessment. It'll have to be a true sea change - like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker dying.
michael doran
9:17
As for what will be the NEXT Infinity Stones-like story arc, to me I think they can't have it be another threat from space. I think they're gonna have to find some earth-bound threat to be the lynchpin.

I’m more curious if they are going to incorporate all fox owned properties by the 4th film
George Marston
9:18
I think they'll use the Skrull like Hydra, who kinda ended halfway through the current meta arc - if they use them at all.
michael doran
9:18
That's really the $100k question. Obviously Marvel plans YEARS in advance, and they can't make definitive plans and say the Fox acquisition isn't approved.
George Marston
9:19
I think at best it'll be a tease, a la Thor's hammer in Iron Man 2.
michael doran
9:19
They must have a Disney-only plan in place.
George Marston
9:19
A vague thing that is a clear symbol, but doesn't require budgetary measures or definitive plans.
michael doran
9:19
But if the deals go through, they might have to improvise.
9:20
Perhaps the emergence of mutants, or DOOM could be the next lynchpin.

i want to know how they gonna bring in captian marvel when her solo movie is based in 90s and where was she and what was she doing all this time
michael doran
9:21
Yeah. Why Fury didn't call on her during the Chitauri (sp?) invasion or the Ultron crisis is certainly a question Marvel has to answer.
George Marston
9:22
There's broad speculation to be had but I agree that Marvel is setting that up to be the big question of her solo movie.
michael doran
9:24
In Avengers Fury has implies that Thor's sudden appearance on Earth changed the game for SHIELD. Fury is a secret keeper but that puts that whole explanation into question as well if Captain marvel is a full on space adventure.

Ross' brief appearance had me thinking: Do we still think that Thunderbolts could still be a feature? Especially to "compete" with Suicide Squad
