We'll wait a couple of minutes for more questions to filter in, and then commence with the chatting!

If I make an all in move this summer who would it be for? Luis Robert? Mason Miller.
Mark P
7:50
Both would come at such a streep price that I'm not sure either if really necessary for a team that has so many pieces already in place.  Robert also first needs to get back and show that he's healthy before becoming a viable trade candidate for anyone.  The Phillies certainly seem likely to get bullpen help in some fashion, but not necessarily Miller.
7:51
Er, at a "steep" price
The Phillies could trade Meryl Streep and an actor to be named later for Miller, sure

What awards will Shota win if any

It's shaping up like quite a ROY race between Imanaga, Yamamoto or (if voters don't consider NPB veterans as true 'rookies'), maybe Skenes or Jones from the Pirates
But the Cy also seems plausible for Imanaga, who is having one of the best starts to a career of anyone in history

I know this qualifies as both "good problems to have" and "this usually works itself out" but what happens when and if DJLM, Cole, Martian, and Peraza all complete their rehabs?  Im guessing the latter 2 go back to AAA for now, but could Gleyber start losing ABs and how do you take Gil out of the rotation?
Mark P
7:56
Jones and Berti might not be long for the roster, and Torres should continue to get the benefit of the doubt over someone like Cabrera based on track record alone.

As for the rotation, maybe a six-man rotation might be the best bet to keep everyone fresh, since nobody deserves to lose their job on merit.

Think anyone picks up jay jackson?
Mark P
7:57
Given how well he pitched for the Blue Jays last year, I wonder if Toronto would be interested in a reunion
Ron
7:58
Hey mark, would the royals be a candidate to acquire Luis Robert? Thanks for your response!
Mark P
7:59
Assuming the Royals keep this up, they should be looking to get outfield help of some kind.  However, a deal for Robert probably isn't a fit since other teams have deeper farm systems, KC might not quite be ready for such an "all in" kind of move, and the White Sox might not want to move Robert to a division rival

After 14 IP 0 er from Manoah against two hot teams are you ready to declare him back?
Mark P
8:00
Still too early to say yet, but he has absolutely looked like 2022 Manoah in those two starts.  A very promising turn of developments for Manoah and the Jays.

What’s the latest on Jackson Holliday and Jordan walker? When might we see them back in the majors?
Mark P
8:03
Both have been hitting well but not to a dominant extent since their demotions.  I'd imagine the Orioles and Cardinals would want to see either player on a real hot streak prior to the next call-up.  The Cards have a more dire need for any kind of offensive help, but that's a double-edged sword, as they might not want to bring up Walker with any "save our season" pressure attached
Western Conference Semifinals

Who's your pick tonight: Denver Nuggets or Minnesota Timberwolves?
Mark P
8:05
I have to do with Jokic at the end of the day, but a Minnesota win wouldn't surprise me at all.  What a great series.

Why do people not like the idea of trades inside their division? If you think it helps you, you should be especially eager to do it with a division rival.
Mark P
8:06
There's something of a old-school mentality that these are your closest rivals, and it would be particularly galling to see a player you gave up excel for a team you're playing so many times a year.

I'd like to give a note to Guardo Man, who is a diehard Cleveland fan and somehow always seems to have the very first question or comment in the queue just about every single chat.  It's an extraordinary streak.
Reds
8:09
Who do you think they are selling, because they certainly won't be buying after the front office failures?  Will Krall make Bell the fall guy?
Mark P
8:11
Montas, Martinez, Suter, Pagan, and anyone else who can be a free agent after the season.....these are the most obvious trade candidates if Cincinnati is in sell mode at the deadline.  It's probably doubtful you'll see and more wholesale changes than that, since I'd imagine the Reds think they can get back to competitive baseball in 2025 if they get healthier and the younger players have more experience.

Bell signed a new extension last summer, so I also doubt he'd be fired any time soon.

Well Corbin Carroll ever be Corbin Carroll this year?
Mark P

Two triples in as many games, that's a start?
But yeah, Arizona really needs Carroll to pick it up, since he is in a nasty sophomore slump

Everyone always likes to say AA doesn’t lead trade interests. How true is this? What’s been one of the bigger historical trades that actually got rumored before it happened?
Mark P
8:20
There were some rumors about the Braves' interest in Sean Murphy before that deal happened, and I think I even wrote a "this would be weird, but never count the Braves out when it comes to creative trades."  And then...

Tommy Pham is doing well since he joined the team. I say the Sox need to trade him asap before he “cools” off. Would anyone take him for a decent prospect?
Mark P
8:22
Rival teams who have seen Pham play for years aren't going to be suddenly bowled over by three hot weeks at the plate.  It might help the Sox to move him sooner rather than later if they get a decent offer on the table right now, but I wouldn't count on any premium returns

Odds of Verlander to Brewers at deadline? Why/why not?
Mark P
8:23
Because the Astros will likely be in their own pennant race at the deadline.

The Chicago press and media people keep saying the Sox should get a haul for Fedee at the deadline. Is this at all realistic?
Mark P
8:24
Not a "haul," but Fedde is an interesting trade candidate, as MLBTR's Steve Adams outlined earlier this week in a Front Office piece.
