Should the Jays be considered about Storen's start?
Steve Adams
2:43
Don't love that the velo is down a little bit, but it's ticked upward even over his few appearances thus far. It's basically all BABIP noise at this point... worrying about two weeks is most often not worth the trouble, but it's doubly unnecessary for relievers when you're talking about 4-5 innings.

Why is Lucroy not yet a Ranger?
Steve Adams
2:44
This offseason (and early this season) wasn't a great time to trade him -- value is down for the Brewers due to the concussions, and other teams are also hesitant to part with huge prospect value due to that same uncertainty. If he's healthy in June/July, it'll be easier to line up in a trade.
2:45
That said, I think the Rangers do just consider Chirinos a fine starting option, and I'm inclined to agree. I'd expect more of a backup addition than a definitive starter like Lucroy even if/when they do make a move.

Crystal ball time: what is Kevin Plawecki's future with the Mets?
Steve Adams
2:46
I just don't see how he fits there long term if they're set on d'Arnaud being the primary catcher, and that does seem to be the case. A trade would probably be best for both parties.
2:47
Lots and lots of Sandoval trade comments/questions so far, so let me just say -- I can't fathom a team that would take him on at this point.

Over/under on Trevor Story ending the season with 40 HRs?
Steve Adams
2:48
Not really the proper use of over/under, but I don't even think he's going to hit 30.

Looks like the Pirates made the right moves trade Walker and release Alvarez. Walker's WAR -.2 and Alvarez -.1. With Harrison's WAR .02 and Jaso WAR .06. What are your thoughts?
Steve Adams
2:49
Looking at WAR waaayyyy too literally. Generally speaking, though, I think non-tendering Alvarez was an easy call, and the Walker/Niese swap made sense to me.
Trevor
2:49
Markakis I know wouldn't fetch a lot, but he seems like a guy that would do well for what the royals like to do... Think a possible trade could happen this summer between the two?
Steve Adams
2:51
If he's hitting well, even without much power, I can him having more or less neutral value. He does fit KC's mold of high contact, low strikeout bats, and scouts like him in right field more than defensive metrics, it seems. There's a fit there, I think, especially considering the fact that I'm not overly sold on Dyson/Orlando in right field (particularly the Orlando component of that platoon).

Phillies have to be happy so far with both the Hamels and Giles trades. Eickoff and Velasquez look real good and the better part of the Hamels trade haven't been sniffed the majors yet. Does Amaro deserve any credit for the Hamels deal?
Steve Adams
2:53
It was a really nice return for the Phillies and I (as well as many others) said as much at the time. Amaro's last year or so on the job was actually excellent, and he left Matt Klentak in an incredibly enviable spot in terms of both farm system and long-term payroll outlook. Amaro very much contributed to the Phillies being in that hole in the first place, but it'll be too bad if no one remembers how much good he did for that org on his way out the door.

Should the Orioles give me some starts and if so when?
Steve Adams
2:54
I don't see how, based on the past 3-4 years, the Orioles would be led to believe his arm could hold up in the rotation. Keep him in the 'pen for now.

What is with Miguel Cabreras lack of power as of late ? 18 HRs last season 1 this year, that contract is turning into a real clunker for the Tigers
Steve Adams
2:54
That contract was a clunker the moment it was signed.

I've been praying the Red Sox trade Sandoval for Shields ever since I first heard that rumor. Is there any real traction there? Pending Pablo's shoulder injury?
Steve Adams
2:55
Here's your now weekly "That makes no sense for the Padres and never ever did in any way" comment.
That's going to replace the old weekly barrage of Giancarlo Stanton trade scenarios, it seems.

Buxton HAS to get sent down, doesn't he? looks totally lost. Are all the "wrong" about him? wouldn't be the first hot-shot prospect to fizzle out.. or is the "sample size" still too small (last year + this year)???
Steve Adams
2:57
I think he should be sent down, yeah. He's 22, barely has played at Triple-A and has traditionally started slowly each time he's been promoted. Some time at AAA seems like it'd do him some good. I think he's probably the best bet to go down if/when they bring Murphy up from AAA.
Nate
2:57
Speaking of Giancarlo trade rumors, who do you receive the most ridiculous trade ideas for in these chats?
Steve Adams
2:58
It varies, but the consistent deluge of Sandoval trade scenarios over the past few weeks is the current winner. I had someone ask me about a Pablo Sandoval/Joey Rickard trade a few minutes ago, which was one of the more peculiar things I've seen recently.

Trea Turner has been hot. How soon does he get the call up and start for the Nats?
Steve Adams
2:59
I don't really understand why isn't starting for them right now. Could easily have had Espinosa in a utility role and just passed on Stephen Drew, though the depth never hurts, I suppose. I'd think that by June, Turner is up and getting regular looks at short.

Hector Santiago - Breakout candidate or silly thought?
Steve Adams
3:01
Hector Santiago is averaging 93 mph on his sinker this year, which is just nutty. Last night BrooksBaseball had him at an average of 93.5mph with a max of 96.5. If that velocity is here to stay, I'd definitely buy a big step forward for Santiago, yeah.
Santiago's velocity charts, from Fangraphs: http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfxo.aspx?playerid=4026&position=P&pitch=SI I'm buying.

If Olivera is found guilty, is he done with the Braves. Considering how much they have ate in contracts, wouldn't be the worst to eat.
Steve Adams
3:04
I'd imagine if he's convicted -- and maybe even if not -- he'll be suspended for the season, recouping some of the contract for the Braves. They could try to salvage some value from 2017 on, but I'd applaud them just moving on entirely.

You claimed Ortiz was done last season, wanna retract that statement and eat your words buddy? He's have a great season !
Steve Adams
3:04
I don't recall ever, ever saying David Ortiz was done.
Josh
3:05
Who - if it's not Votto - is the Reds all-star representative this year?
Steve Adams
3:05
Votto would be my bet, but Raisel Igleisas and Eugenio Suarez are plausible candidates as well.
Griff

Do the 200+ innings that RA Dickey pitchers overpower the fact that you have Josh Thole cathing for 200+ innings?
