Hello, friends
Parenting will quickly humble you whenever you think you're ahead on time
sincerely,

daughter in tears unloading her existential crisis over making her birthday party invite list at 10:50
but we're back

Your thoughts on Sheehan’s ceiling/floor? Thank you.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:05
I think his ceiling is fairly high (SP2?) and love the consistency of what he's shown so far
but I worry about a fly-ball pitcher with occassional control problems
Gallen
11:06
Worth grabbing on the free agent market today hoping he goes to a team he likes and production follows? Or is this new broken version we've had for a full year now just what he is? I have Reese Olsen to drop, but there are better face value arms available too.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:06
His talent says he could literally turn everything around by his next start...in theory
11:07
but I just can't recomment taking anything but a flyer on this current (broken) version
he's just a lotto ticket at this point
Love Idiocracy! Sal’s eta in BAL?
11:07
Hi Nicklaus. First and foremost, I loved your Idiocracy reference in last week’s chat! It’s one of my favorite movies. Ok, onto fantasy, if OHearn gets traded today, will Sal Basallo FINALLY get the call? Debating whether I should grab him today to be prepared.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:08
I keep having to change Grammerly so it won't auto-correct "upgradde"
he's gotta get the call, right?
I don't care how crafty the Orioles are being

Apart from the Mets' Rogers acquisition, it seems like every return for established from Wednesday was fairly underwhelming. Is this the new normal? No more big splashes at the deadline with it being easier to get into the playoffs?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:10
It continues to trend this way -- like you said, the playoff format will continue to make for a less robust market, given how many teams will be "in it", technically

Wilyer or Happ ROS? Rank Cease-Gallen-Bibee. Thanks N.G.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:11
Happ by a lot
11:12
Cease > Bibee > Gallen
and you're welcome!

Dynasty/Contract league.  I already had Raleigh (big believer in him for years.  I also have Josh Naylor and Suarez so a lot of my power is on the Mariners now.  Should I try and trade for a different first basemen or hope that this trio in Seattle just drive each other in the rest of the year?  Is that too much riding on one team?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:12
I wouldn't worry too much about the balance. That's a lot of bopping to go around
Worried Suarez Owners
11:14
How much of a dip in production should we expect? Seattle deflates. AL West is more competetive than NL West. Despite having Naylor, the offense around him is far less robust. Obvs he's not a drop, but did Seattle just take one of my big boppers and make him benchable at times?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:15
The park/competition certainly doesn't help, but I don't think he'll suddenly tank. Expect a dip (and he does love to occassionally disappear for a month) but I'm not benching him
Mason Miller trade impact?
11:16
pretending mason miller is traded to SD (since they’re in hot pursuit), would he close for the Padres? And who would close for the Athletics?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:16
No need to pretend - what a stunner
11:17
It will be committee to start for the A's but I like Perkins the most
Miller's going to close in San Diego
11:18
Cease+Suarez trade incoming?
regardless of Cease, I think Suarez is probably moved
Tyler Locklear
11:19
Will Arizona provide him with full time at-bats even after Pavin Smith returns?  What's your crystal ball say?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:19
I think so!
Granted, that'll all change if he's terrible but I don't think they'll let a returning Pavin stand in his way

How much do you pay attention to home/road and day/night splits when streaming pitchers? For instance I was scared off from streaming Rocker tonight since he’s been dreadful on the road and at night. I factor in the opposing lineup ahead of splits like that but I use splits like that plus ballpark/weather when on the fence about a stream
Nicklaus Gaut
11:20
Not much tbh - more about the actual park for me, over how a pitcher does on the road
but park + weather can be very important factors, especially when you're on the fence
11:21
I find DFS sites are particularly helpful for sussing those things out
Rae

How would you rank Westburg, Correa, B Lowe, Tovar and O Lopez? Thanks Nick!
