Hey everyone, hope you're all enjoying your evening!

after trading for Maton and Vierling are the Tigers still looking to add a FA bat?
Anthony Franco
6:01
Yeah I still think there's another bat coming. Maton and Vierling are somewhat interesting depth types but they shouldn't stop them from bringing in another lower-cost upside play
Getting Donny Sands back limits the need to dip into free agency for a catcher beyond Andrew Knapp though

What can you tell Rangers fans about Matt Moore's market? C.Y. has said he has a lot of teams after his services: he still hasn't signed? Is he looking for a starting roll or would he take a deal to come back to Texas?
Anthony Franco
6:03
Haven't heard much on Moore but I don't see why the market wouldn't be pretty strong. He's one of the three best remaining free agent relievers, in my view. Think he gets two years around Carlos Estévez money ($14MM)
He's a reliever at this point

Hazen targeted high upside in Kyle Lewis then pushed him off the roster in favor of “higher” floor in Longo and Gurriel… what’s the plan here? Why is Arizona going to treat KLew the same way SEA did and sour the relationship with an option before it’s begun?
Anthony Franco
6:04
I don't really see it like that. Lewis hasn't been healthy for basically two seasons and has a history of knee troubles that dates back to that terrible home plate collision in his first professional season
6:05
He's an interesting upside flier but not someone I think teams feel they can trust to stay healthy. If he's healthy and hitting, then they can work him in at designated hitter primarily, but they're not banking on him

I noticed the Rockies have recently made somethe type of which they hadn’t made in years. They traded (Sam Hilliard) and released (Garrett Hampson), two homegrown prospects. They made several low profile trades (including acquiring Nolan Jones and several unproven pitchers). They were reported to have been discussing a trade involving Brendan Rodgers, a homegrown and core player on their roster. None of these such things happened for several years running. Do you think there’s an under the radar change underway?
Anthony Franco
6:06
Nah they just cut a couple guys from the back of the 40-man. Don't think trading Hilliard is any more a sign they're rebuilding now than something like non-tendering David Dahl was a couple years ago
6:07
Seems like they loosely entertained Rodgers trades as a way to upgrade their rotation without spending, since they're already at a franchise-record payroll. Maybe something like that comes together but I don't see them moving him for prospects
The big yo

Do you see Oakland parting with Laureano or Brown? If so would they be looking at a straight swap and not trying to get a haul back?
Anthony Franco
6:08
I'd guess Brown goes and Laureano stays, at least until the deadline

Am I trying to resign Michael Fulmer or am I going to let him walk?
Anthony Franco

Adding to the bullpen is going to be a priority for Minnesota but it doesn't have to be Fulmer specifically. His peripherals were fine but not great, don't think he's an ideal high-leverage option

Should yankees trade Torres and go with DJ and then see how Volpe is doing in AAA.. if good bring him up and sit Donaldson if not hitting. If hitting leave Volpe down unless DJ not hitting what d0 you think
Anthony Franco
6:12
I'd at least be open to offers on Gleyber given the infield depth, yeah. Don't have to force anything. There's no issue if they decide the offers aren't sufficient and just bring him back for around $10MM to guard against a LeMahieu injury or some growing pains from Volpe/Peraza but also no harm in seeing what's out there if it nets some outfield help or a notable bullpen piece

Anthony, thanks for chatting!  Quick question....thoughts on who has the best career going forward:  BWJ or Gunnar?
Anthony Franco
6:13
I prefer Gunnar, think he's more likely to consistently post an above-average OBP
6:14
Not like I'm down on Witt or anything. I expect they'll both be All-Star caliber players but slight edge to Henderson

Adalberto Mondesi for Jo Adell.Who says no?
Anthony Franco
6:14
Don't think the Angels have soured on Adell to that extent
6:15
Mondesi's down to his final arbitration season and coming off a season almost completely lost to an ACL tear

Sox could basically hit the reset button after this year, declining options (or picking them up and trading) on Lynn, Hendriks, TA, Kelly, and Diekman, and trading Eloy, Robert, Graveman, and Bummer. Of all those players, only Robert is guaranteed beyond 2024. Grandal's a FA. If they disappoint as badly as last year, do they tear it down and trade pretty much everyone, even Cease and Kopech? If they can't win with this roster, they won't get anywhere when it gets even pricier and guys like Giolito leave.
Anthony Franco
6:17
I think they'll be a little better this year than they were in 2022, but if things go completely off the rails and they win like 70-75 games, blowing it up probably becomes the right call. It's not like the farm system is teeming with incoming reinforcements
Cease would be an interesting one. Even if they do decide to rebuild, I'd at least gauge his interest in an extension before pivoting to the trade market there
6:18
Have to see how things play out in 2023 first. They're not far off Cleveland and Minnesota in that division

Should the Mets pivot to Bryan Reynolds? Their outfield definitely lacks power. As currently constructed they will be lucky to get 45 hrs from it
Anthony Franco
6:20
I don't think they need to do that. It's not a power-heavy outfield but Canha, Nimmo and Marte is a good group overall
6:21
Felt like they jumped in on Correa when they saw a chance to add another huge bat. It didn't work but I don't see a need to go and "replace" Correa by trading from the top of the farm system. The Mets are still going to be good

Of Lowe (TB), Kim, Biggio, Espinal, and Torres, which is the most realistic and sensible as a 2B trade target for the Sox? Leaving Jazz Chisholm out as that would be the all-in move the Sox are never gonna make.
Anthony Franco
6:22
Marlins aren't trading Jazz anyways. One of the Blue Jays guys probably the likeliest to move of that group
Chip
6:22
I'm going to ask again. Which of the young Braves that were extended will want a new contract based on recent signings and amount of contracts.
Anthony Franco
6:22
I don't think any of them are truly "regretting" it. They all know they're leaving a chance at greater long-term earning power on the table when they sign in the first place
6:23
The Albies deal looks light from his perspective, for instance, but that was true on day one. He took it anyways to lock in some short-term security and guarantee he'd be in Atlanta for the long haul on a good team

Is there anything left in the Nats system (major or minor league) that could be traded for more prospects? Is there a bad contract they could take on if it came with a prospect or two?
Anthony Franco
6:25
I think Kyle Finnegan's an interesting target for teams that need relief help. Maybe Dom Smith or Trevor Williams plays their way into being trade chips midseason
