Apologies! Time got away on me this morning and I'm an hour late. Will wait for this to fill up a bit and then get going

Any chance Florial gets traded for a bullpen arm or AAA low quality starter?
Simon Hampton
11:07
Florial DFA'd just now if anyone missed it
11:08
I think there's a good chance the Yankees can get something back for him instead of just losing him on waivers, but doubt it'd be this much

Should we expect the Texas Rangers to be major Buyers at the trade deadline?
Simon Hampton
11:10
Still think it's a tough division for them to compete in. Maybe they're a handful of games back of a wild card spot and in a position to buy on players that they can control through next season, but I don't think they'll be in on rentals

Probability Pirates and Reynolds work out their (few?) remaining issues??
Simon Hampton
11:13
Seems like both sides have been willing to move a fair bit to find some common ground, so there appears a fair amount of motivation from either side to get a deal done.

Having said that, this is kinda a big issue, no?
Luis Urias out 6-8 weeks for the Brewers..

How many home runs will Judge hit this year

I'll go with 53

Do the Detroit tigers pickup Florial off of waivers for cf depth? What do you think? Haha, Scott Harris loves the waiver wire.
Simon Hampton
11:17
Not sure it'll be the Tigers specifically, but that sort of team is the one that makes the most sense. Oakland, Washington, Colorado...

Podcast is starting up when?
Simon Hampton
11:18
Had planned on this week but ran into some small technical issues. Those have been addressed and we're planning on it being good to go next week. Probably out each Wednesday morning

BTW your jot cast thing says 1-4-23 not 4-1-23. IDK of that's a problem.
Simon Hampton

Ha, good spot - America is the only country that writes the date mm/dd/yyyy. I try and remember to go month first over here, but sometimes forget

Any news on a possible Anthony Rendon fine/suspension after the altercation with that A’s fan?
Simon Hampton
11:21
No news on Rendon yet, but it sounds like he'll address the media before tody

Do the o’s make the playoffs this year?
Simon Hampton
11:23
Don't think so. Didn't add enough to compete with the Yankees and Blue Jays.

Hopefully a huge year from Adley motivated the front office to be a bit more aggressive next winter. The talent is certainly there to build around

Be careful beating the Angels drum, it might hit back

If you were to guess, which team will have the worst performance out of all teams this year?
Simon Hampton
11:24
I think the Rockies will take that honor this year

Share your predictions for cy young and mvp?
Simon Hampton
11:25
Anthony did a big predictions piece for Front Office subscribers last week - mine were Soto and Ohtani for MVP and Cole and Burnes for Cy Young

Cardinals lost their opener 10-9. Can we expect a lot more games like this? Will they move an outfielder to address pitching issues?
Simon Hampton
11:27
I would read the square root of nothing into the scoreline of one game out of a 162 game season.

It's possible they do need to address their pitching, but losing one game 10-9 won't be why
JB

Should we be concerned about Corbin Burnes after a 4-0 loss against the Cubs?
Simon Hampton
11:30
Nope

Who wins the NL West?
Simon Hampton
11:33
I'm going with the Padres this year. The Dodgers still look very strong, and even a small step back from the juggernaut they've been is still a very good team, but think the Padres have a bit more in 2023.

Dodgers - Padres series should be a lot of fun this year though

I have really come around to the pitch clock. I enjoy the pace of the game. Having said that there were a few instances on opening day where the umpire decided a violation had occurred where it seemed as though a judgment call would have said it wasn't the right thing to do. Examples being in the Mets game with the runner not getting back to first "quickly" enough and Blue Jays catcher having to fix his earpiece. Will MLB address these issues going forward or will this just be part of the game?
Simon Hampton
11:36
I think the umps will be pretty firm on it to begin the season to set the standard. Figure as the season goes on they'll be more willing to make a few more judgement calls on those borderline ones as you say
