Well, it's a "Fabulous" time of the year. Much-anticipated Fab 22 comes out Thursday. Can't reveal names until reveal party. But we can discuss it - along with championship games and much more. Let's go.

Lebo ran away with the 6A title. Have not played a close game all season and been head and shoulders above the rest of the WPIAL. Do you think they take home the chocolate? I seems St Joes is not as dominate as in years past.
Mike White
10:57
Yes, Mt. Lebanon has a chance. They're that good. But please remember there are good teams in the east, too. No, St. Joe's isn't as good as past few years, but still formidable. Other teams in east, too. But I think Mt. Lebanon has an excellent chance to at least get there.

Who do you like in the 5 finals @ Heinz.
Mike White
10:58
Canevin, Beaver Falls, Central Valley, Belle Vernon and Penn-Trafford.

What’s the hesitation on Tecza with FBS schools? He is one of the most impressive players I’ve watched all season. He really is a complete back, size , speed , vision, power, can catch. I don’t see a weakness 🤷🏻‍♂️

I couldn't tell you. I'm not in recruiters heads. I will say this, and this is not a knock on how good kid is. But we don't produce all that many Power 5 running backs. I don't know if people realize around here how good you have to be to be a Power RB. But he is pretty darn good on defense, too. I can tell you that one Mt. Lebanon coach said after the game, "Central has these kids going Division I. You mean to tell me our kids aren't good enough for that?"

So penn hills and woody high to 3a and 4A? What is going on in the east hills?
Mike White
11:00
Declining enrollment, that's what
Johnny

What’s the deal with home games in the Pisa
Mike White
11:03
OK, let's go over and explain this again. PIAA had stated well before the season that games involving teams from contiguous districts might be played at home site, if the site was suitable. They did this last year because of COVID. Better to have it at one school, rather than a neutral school. They decided to do it again this year. When teams aren't from contiguous districts, they will play at neutral site. Like last year, Pine-Richland played Governor Mifflin at Hollidaysburg. And please can everyone stop about Mt. Lebanon getting advantage. Look at PIAA schedule this weekend. Many teams have home games. It's not just Lebo. Got it, everyone?

Mike- is the list short or long of current WPIAL football coaches that have won championships at multiple schools such as Palko.  Cerro comes to mind.  Grass isn't always greener.  It says alot about those that can move on and do it at multiple stops.
Mike White
11:04
Obviously, I don't have the all-time list. Yes, Palko is on it. Cerro is on it. Art Walker and his dad are on it. Dad did it at Mt. Lebanon and Shady Side Academy. Yes, it is impressive, but it has been done before.
Johnny

what’s the deal with home games in the PIAA quarters? Not exactly fair to McDowell to have to play at Lebo
Mike White

Please read above.

Heard you guys talk about Aliquippa enrollment/ classification status yesterday on the always riveting podcast. In all your years covering high school sports,  where would you rank their 14( probably be 15 after next year, lot of underclassmen starters) consecutive championship appearances considering always playing up in classification, in terms of the most impressive team/program accomplishment during that time?
Mike White
11:08
It is one of the most remarkable streaks in WPIAL history. But I can't say it's best ever. Bethel Park boys swimming won 20 WPIAL titles in a row years ago. Norwin girls volleyball won 13 WPIAL titles in a row. There have been others. How about Brendan McKay's scoreless innings streak? Clairton football's 66-game winning streak? So, yes what Aliquippa has done is awfully impressive. But there are others.

Made it out to Lebo game. First time out in Norwin.  Really nice stadium but the sound system needs some work. Was little surprised about the outcome but best Lebo team in 25 years, wasn't around for the 80 teams. The line is amazing, Defense unreal, QB is a stud, Navy is getting a steal on Heinenreich kid, and the Tecza kid best rb in wpial and I don't know how he isn't getting fbs looks and same with Heinenreich. That Central team has d1 kids all over the field and Lebo made them look silly.  This team could win it all.
Mike White
11:09
Yes, Lebo could win it all. As I said above, they have an excellent chance of at least getting there. But they will get challenged if they get to finals.

Hi Mike - I'm here to ask the important questions...What's your favorite uniform matchup of the WPIAL Championships this weekend?
Mike White
11:09
Are you talking band uniforms?
Windy
11:10
Mike, who wins a playoff game first, North Hills football, the Steelers, or the Pirates?
Mike White
11:10
Ahhhh, the weekly North Hills football question. Just go back to bed.
Go Devils
11:10
Seems like the wpial could get 5 maybe even 6 to Hershey in two weeks! Let’s go district 7!
Mike White
11:11
I'll say they get four.

Lebo Football alums received an email last night announcing tickets sales for the PIAA matchup against McDowell, and the message revealed that the game will be played at Mt. Lebanon stadium. From a competitive perspective it doesn't matter where the game will be played, because Lebo will hammer them. But this decision is flat-out ridiculous. Lebo fans would have gone bananas if the shoe were on the other foot. Do better, PIAA.
Mike White
11:12
Please read above. It is explained. There are home games all over the state this weekend. It's what the PIAA said it was going to do.

Mike, any updates on the Steel Valley-Southside Beaver incident from a few weeks ago?  Why was this never mentioned in the PG?
Mike White
11:12
We'll see what happens.

How’s the 9th grade north hills basketball team looking this year
Mike White
11:12
Kind of sweaty.
Travo
11:12
Is lineman the hardest by far to decide for fab 22
Mike White
11:13
Probably. But so are kids who might have a number of big-time college offers, but really do that much on the field, compared to others. Not mentioning any names, though.
Travo
11:13
1A championship who you like and why?
Mike White
11:13
Bishop Canevin because of its defense.

Have you heard anything on what classes city league schools will be placed in ?
Mike White
11:14
I do not know yet.
Referee

Most of the fans don't the rules. They should just watch the games and cheer. There are many differences between the High School rules and college/Pro rules. C'mon fans just cheer for your teams
Mike White
11:14
I'm sorry, what's your point?
