Good afternoon everyone! Hope you're enjoying this Memorial Day weekend. Looks like a full queue of questions here, I'll run through as many as I can over the next hour....

Marte's 80 game suspension is up in about a month.   Is he allowed to use the Red's facilities to practice under the eyes of the organization's coaches and how far away from the big leagues do you see him once he's activated?
Ray Murphy
12:04
Yes, I believe he's allowed to rehab/build up to a return before the end of the suspension. I'd expect he'll be ready to be activated right at the Reds' 81st game.... sometime in late June, I believe.

I’ve been incredibly patient with Manny Machado and Matt Olson and am paying for it in the standings. While Olson seems to be turning it around, Machado is showing no such signs. Is it time to sell for a modest loss or is some positive regression coming?
Ray Murphy
12:07
I'm living the same pain with Machado. If you're looking for positive signs, his hard contact index (HctX) has jumped in May. Power isn't there because he's hitting too many grounders, but maybe hitting the ball hard is a good first step toward a rebound.

Ray, thanks in advance for repplying.

16 team H2H points league. We can start only 5 SPs. Pts: W(+4), L(-4), QS(+8), K(+0.5), IP(+2), ER(-1), BB(-0.5), HA(-0.5)

According to HQs pitching outlook my top 6 pitchers (by a clear margin) are: Buehler (2.3), Bibee (1.9), Bradish (1.7), Scott (1.7), Woo (1.5), Darvish (1.4)

Frankly both Buehler and Darvish concern me though Buehler pitched well enough in his last game but lacked run support. Darvish soaked up innings for his team at the expense of his ERA.

Just as a further complexity, the GS, Pts and Pts/GS for each:

Woo 3 GS, 50 Pts, 16.7 pts/GS
Darvish 10 GS, 119 pts, 11.9 pts/GS
Scott 4 GS, 9 pts, 12.3 pts/GS
Bibee 11 GS, 117 pts, 10.6 pts/GS
Bradish 4 GS, 31 pts, 7.8 pts/GS
Buehler 4 GS, pts, 7.25 pts/GS

I think I should bench either Bradish or Buehler and start Darvish. Leaning to benching Buehler.

Thoughts?
Ray Murphy

With QS such a heavy piece of your scoring, I just don't see the Dodgers letting Buehler go 6 consistently right now. So, I agree... sit him.

Happy Monday Sir!  I’m in a 5x5 dynasty league. Sometimes I hold on to people too long and could use an outside opinion. Was able to pick up Colt Keith a month ago. Give up on Gelof or does it look like he could bounce back? Also, good times over with Pages or hold on longer?
Ray Murphy
12:11
I think you got Keith at the right time, lots of positive signs there. Gelof is a tough call, haven't seen much positive since he came off IL... but he probably desrves more time. Pages is starting to look like he's got a return ticket to Triple-A in his future... though the Dodgers can choose to be patient if they want.

I’m ina14 team mixed league H2H category league, should I hold on to Justin Steele?
Ray Murphy
12:13
Always depends on the alternatives, but I'd say yes. The HR ball has been killing him since coming off the IL, but... 12 K/2 BB in last two starts seems to suggest not all is lost. 10 GB in his last start a good sign too. Feel free to bench if you can, but I wouldn't cut just yet.

Happy Memorial Day Ray!
NL 10 team 5x5. I have B Perkins $1 & he is "meh" - would you rather Hurtubise (FA) or a FAAB attempt on J Bae?
Ray Murphy
12:15
Hurtubise has probably won a shot at some short-term playing time, you can try to ride that hot hand. The K's are troubling, even though he's hitting. Bae has been running if that helps you...
Beano
12:17
NL 10 team 5x5  - is Mitchell Parker worth playing regularly (we can't sit -if they are active in MLB, they are active on your team) or would you rather a decent MR?
And is J Gallo just too awful to contemplate if in need of HRs?
Ray Murphy
12:17
Yeah, Parker's very playable, I think... not dominant, but nice BB%, has held his own against a tough schedule.

The Gallo question would be more interesting if he was actually hitting HR. Yesterday's was first since April 10. There are better places to look for HR help.

Happy Memorial Day..... should I be concerned with Jake Burger ...only options in 15 teamer f/a pool..Vierling, C Keith or stash Sano on DL
Ray Murphy
12:19
Yeah, Brent and I both have a lot of Burger, and it's concerning for sure. Some mterics (HctX, xPX) say it's not as bad as it looks. I mentioned in another response that Colt Keith seems to be coming around... I might swap him for Burger right now.

12:21
Would you put these two guys in your lineup this week ....E. Phillips(would replace J Hoffman) and W Langford (would replace A Pages)          Thank you!
Ray Murphy
12:21
I'm not sure Phillips is in LA before the weekend, but he should get the CL gig back right away, so might well be worth activated him. And yeah, given what I said about Pages earlier, I'd plug Langford back in there (not that he was great before the IL stint).

Have Mize in a H2H QS dynasty league.  Keep or drop for J. Assad, G. Stone, Detmers, Paddack, Sandoval, Ashcraft, or Heaney?
Ray Murphy
12:22
That's a pretty motley crew. Stone has been surprisingly decent, and riding that LA team context. Two starts this week too. Maybe use that as a streaming spot for now.

I am in a 5x5 NL only league….looking to pickup sbs…who would give me a better return Bae or Robles??? Thank you
Ray Murphy
12:23
I'd take the shot at Bae, see if he can hold some playing time. Robles is a part-timer at this point.
Peter
12:24
Hi Ray, Don't know whether to start Austin Riley or not. Can cover for him though alternatives are obviously inferior to a healthy Riley.
Ray Murphy
12:24
Looks like he's starting today. Get him in there.
Jose Abreu
12:24
Does he play right away?
Ray Murphy
12:24
I would certainly think so. Whether he hits is another question.

AL only 4x4 keeper. just picked up Alec Mrsh. BBHQ not to high on him. your thoughts? and please rate these 4 MLP. for 2025 R arias, Basallo, Emmnauel R. and Montes. thank you
Ray Murphy
12:26
Covered him in Double Dippin' yesterday... he's looked good since coming off the IL, but the two starts this week scare me a bit.

Sorry, I'm the wrong guy to ask about prospects... I'll pass on that one.

Hi! 12-tm, H2H category … starting pitching a shambles! Best on WW seem to be Gasser, Waldron, B Brown, Lively Soriano, Paddack. Anyone you like beyond streamer? Also, trying to roll w good middle RPs, instead of chasing middling SPs. Can you name your favorites to roster? Thanks!
Ray Murphy
12:27
Ben Brown stands out from that group, he could well be more than just a streamer.

Deep NL keeper league, 12 teams, so always looking for a bullpen stash. Does Porter Hodge have a shot a bigger role in a shaky Cubs pen, and what do you make of Jeremiah Estrada's 45% K rate in his limited sample with SD? Two years ago, he had prospect helium.
Ray Murphy
12:30
Time to plug a site tool. I used our Bullpen indicators table to answer this question. Open table, pull down CHC from team tab, take a comprehensive look at Cubs bullpen.

Six strikeouts in 2.1 IP will get your attention for sure. Note that the Leverage index is microscopic... so he's been in mopup work so far. He keeps wiping guys out and he'll start working his way up the leverage ladder. Wouldn't expect that to happen overnight, though, even with the Cubs bullpen throwing sparks.

Welcome back to the chat, Ray. Thanks for your work on the site, I'm very pleased, finding more the more I look.

FAA after lunch, who do I cut with Chas McCormick back. I've two similarly disappointing $1 maybe-they'll-click-someday-youngsters to choose from, Gabriel Arias and Ezequiel Duran. 10-Team AL 5x5 (OB) Keeper League with 1C-2UT, (these guys are in my utility bin). Thanks.
Ray Murphy
12:33
Yeah, not much good happening with either one. I'd probably be looking to move on from both... I like Duran a bit better, but with Langford and (eventually) Jung coming back, he's going to get squeezed for PT.
Ron
12:34
Hi Ray,  in 12-team mixed roto where I am looking for power and OBP over SB, is it time to replace E. Rosario with a N. Gonzales or I. Happ?
Ray Murphy
12:34
Yes, I'd grab Happ right now. Big OBP upgrade even before he actually gets going, which should happen here.
John
12:37
Given Dylan Moore's contact gains per this morning's article should I pick him up and drop Zach Neto for ROS.  Forecaster still has Moore to find at .218 Batting average but perhaps that number should be upped??
Ray Murphy
12:37
Yeah, the projections should be slow to react in cases like this.... Moore's got a career .213 BA. Ct% gains are great, but let's not completely throw out what we know about him either. I think I'd keep Neto.
SirLoin
12:39
AL-Only, 4x4, ROS rank 'em:  M. Moniak, E. Florial, W. Perez, L. Butler, P. Meadows.  Thanks!
