Hey all, ready to go for another Monday. Queue is full already; I'll get to as many as I can. We're off!

Thoughts on ROS PT for Henry Ramos, STone Garrett, Garrett Hampson, N Velazquez, M Andujar?  How roster-worthy are any of these fellas?  (I really like Velazquez for HRs but I don't see a place for him)
Brent Hershey
12:01
My choice here is Velazquez, even with the uncertain PT right now. Power, speed and some interesting quality of contact metrics. He just has more skills juice than the rest of this crew. Stone Garrett and Andújar would be next most interesting.

Twelve team H2H one year league. Have Tatis, Witt, Hoener and G Henderson on roster. Continue to hold Henderson and hope for turnaround or drop/trade him?
Brent Hershey
12:03
I'd continue to hold, yes. On-base skills in that improving lineup are likely to keep him interesting, and given his pedigree, I think the light could go on at any time. I'd be more worried if BAL was sending him down, but don't see that happening right now.

Jose Abreu - concern level getting higher. Good track record and middle of great line up but not many good signs. Thoughts? Give him to Memorial Day before.........
Brent Hershey
12:06
Yep, this one's not working out as anticipated. Quality of contact metrics are down across the board, unlike last year. Given his age, it's more likely that he's in a decline phase. I DO think giving him another month on my rosters is best, given the pluses you mention, but I'm considering benching him over the short-term in places where I can do that and have better short-term options. It's puzzling for sure.

I picked up Luke Weaver for a 2 start week, based on his matchup scores.   But he's apparently had a bit of a skills bump (150 BPV).  What would you say the chances of a Luke Weaver breakout being (assuming he can stay healthy, which has been a problem for him)
Brent Hershey
12:12
I'm not convinced; just too much recent baggage. With both scores are positive, the first start at SD is marginal, and the second start this week is at home. The "skills bump" is based off a two-start sample. I'll take the L on that one this week if he "breaks out".

Happy Monday, Brent! I have a very brief “Would you rather” edition before taking next week off (vacation!). In a keeper league, who would you want more over the next 3-5 years?

1.     A. Dylan Cease or B. Freddy Peralta
2.     A. Nick Lodolo or MacKenzie Gore
3.     A. Curtis Mead or B. Brett Baty
4.     A. Jack Suwiniski or B. Josh Naylor
5.     A. Luis Garcia (Was) or B. Rodolfo Castro

Enjoy the doubleheader today, folks!
Brent Hershey
12:15
  1. Cease, but it's close and not thrilled about either
  2. Lodolo
  3. Baty; stronger track record and more likely Mets plug-and-play
  4. Suwinski
  5. García; more job security

Hi--Need to replace Whitlock in a 15-team NL-AL keeper league. Best options are Luke Weaver, Bibee, Canning or take an early flier on Gavin Stone. Any of these good options? Thanks.
Brent Hershey
12:17
I'd rank em: Bibee <gap> Canning <bigger gap> <and another gap> Weaver. I'd take a flyer on Stone before Weaver for sure especially in a keeper lg.

Just an early season slump for Taylor Ward? Were you a believer coming into the year?
Brent Hershey
12:19
Yes, think it's an early slump from which he'll recover. And yes, I was a believer from when I first saw his Forecaster page in October. He's a hold for sure.

Taylor Trammell is back.  Could he have been on the Alex Rodriguez 10-step plan and is ready to make an impact?
Brent Hershey
12:24
Yes, this is what that plan looks like ... the only question is if Trammell is able to get out of the middle roundabout. Right now, tough to see where the consistent AB that exiting the circle requires comes from. I guess it's possible he could take over DH, but SEA has rotated that spot for much of the year. Some solid fantasy potential if he could find playing time.

12:26
Hiya! Having dropped him, I am wondering if I should go get McGough back! He is really chopping down the ERA and pitching well - outlook for saves for him?
Brent Hershey
12:26
Only been two sparking weeks, and those have come with fortunate BABIP. Chafin has seemed to semi-take over that job ... not sure you're missing out on much by leaving McGough on the wire right now.

NL only ROS, who do you want: Myers (inj?) or A. Garcia
Brent Hershey
12:27
Probably Myers. Much better home park, positional flexibility.

Thanks Brent!

Which bat would you be most likely to roster in your UT moving forward in a 12 team H2H categories league:

Torkelson
M Vargas
Hays
J Baez
Meneses
Brent Hershey
12:28
Was just looking at Hays this morning; and there's some quality of contact gains that support the step forward for him here in the first month. Think I'd lean in that direction.

Do you think Allen will stay up?
Brent Hershey
12:30
Nick will probably be forever up-and-down ... but you probably mean Logan. :-) And yes, given the soft spots in CLE's current rotation, it feels like both Allen and Bibee are here to stay.
Bob
12:32
Do you anticipate Jeremiah Estrada moving into a high leverage role?
Brent Hershey
12:32
I think it's possible, but farther down the road this season if 1) Other options don't emerge for the Cubs first and 2) he continues to pitch well. I, for one, have been curious on how the team has seemed to shorten Alzolay's outings in the past 10 days or so. At this point I would think it's more likely someone like that gets a shot before Estrada, though I agree that his skill set seems very suited to end-game relief.

what do you think of Severino staying healthy and his he still a front line pitcher
Brent Hershey
12:35
He's "proven" to us recently that staying healthy is a challenge. That statement alone removes him from the "frontline" conversation for me. When he IS healthy, he's had good results ... it's just a manner getting enough starts to make an impact.

In a vacuum, if you could only hold one of surprise demotees Walker or Bradley, which would it be?
Brent Hershey
12:39
Bradley, even though I normally lean hitter over pitcher in these types of young-player questions. Just accept that with the Rays, this type of treatment (unorthodox player movement) is part of the package. But I feel slightly more confident that "in a vacuum", Bradley's true talent level for his position on the field is better/higher/more relative than Walker's. Or put another way, he's going to have more impact on your fantasy team in the short term than Walker. And I'm still "in" on Walker long-term, but swing/miss AND the currently crowded STL OF is enough to sway me to the Bradley side.

12 team 5x5: Is it time to trust Sale?
Brent Hershey
12:40
2 out of the last 3 starts were "Sale-ian"; this last one supposedly came with a few mechanical tweaks. Yes, I'm in.

12:44
How worried should I be about Jose Abreu and Anthony Santander?
Brent Hershey
12:44
Mentioned Abreu above; I've got less concerns with Santander. Hard-hit%, EV, launch angle have not dropped off; still pulling the ball (where the most damage comes from). At 28, this just looks like a slow start with a decent recovery rate.

12:48
Thanks for taking the time for these! 12 team mixed 5x5: Cease, Giolito, Gore, E-Rod, Gonsolin. Thoughts on at least the first half of the season?
Brent Hershey
12:48
In a 12, I'd prefer to have a better "ace" than Cease (walks) and with how the Sox have started, seems like you might be short on Wins here. No huge red flags, though, as long as you're aware that Gonsolin is unlikely to repeat 2022 levels.

Can Kiriloff be an impact bat once he rejoins the big league roster?
Brent Hershey
12:51
I've long been a Kirilloff fan, but the persistence of this wrist injury and issues have soured me some. He's going to be a "has to prove it" guy for me, mainly with regards to health. So yes, he CAN be an impact bat, but the likelihood of that happening is diminishing the longer this goes on. Hopefully he's healthy, rakes at AAA and settles into the regular 1B gig in MIN by the end of the season. But I'm a bit skeptical at the moment.

Hi Brent, two quick hitters for a 5x5 league:
  1. Suwinski or Grichuk ROS?
  2. Need to cut two of: Matz, Falter, Heaney, Ober,  B. Garrett, J. Suarez.  Cut Matz and Suarez?
