Appreciate everybody logging on! I'm looking forward to answering some questions! I apologize in advance for any typos or poor grammar.

Were you upset when you fractured your arm on a HBP? What was the rehab process like?
Brent Rooker
12:02
This was definitely a little frustrating since it was just 7 games into my first opportunity in the major leagues and I had had some brief success up until that point.  Once surgery was done and the bone was repaired, the rehab process was just about 6 weeks of rest and then re-strengthening the muscles in my forearm before progressing to baseball activities.

Brent, thanks for chatting with us! You played for 4 teams and 2 different organizations last season. How difficult is the constant moving around when you are in situation like that? And what are you most excited about in joining the Oakland organization this season?
Brent Rooker
12:04
The moving around is tough and its hard to get settled or into a routine with so much constant change. That being said, its just part of the job and something you have to learn to work through.  I'm incredibly excited to be with Oakland and hope to play well and earn some major league opportuinies!

Hi Brent!  You hit very well in the minors last year.  Are you confident about hitting in the majors this year?  Is there really a huge difference between AAA and the majors?
Brent Rooker
12:06
There's definitely a difference as it think anyone will tell you.  I have hit very well the past few years in AAA and am pretty confident in my ability to translate that to major league success when given some consistent chances.

Favorite show on HBO right now?
Brent Rooker

I am diehard Succession fan and I think that always be my favorite. I'm very into The Last Of Us right now and it has been great so far.

What's your favorite ballpark to play in? (I know that's a basic question but explain why, makes it a little more entertaining for you to answer haha)
Brent Rooker
12:09
I would say Busch Stadium has been my favorite so far.  An incredible atmosphere and growing up in Memphis I was a big Cardinals fan growing up. It doesnt hurt that my first ML homerun came there!

Hey Brent. A’s fan here. Thanks for doing this. I’d like to hear a little about your call up to Minnesota in 2020. How’d that go down and what emotions were you feeling?
Brent Rooker
12:12
My story is a little different as with anyone who debuted in 2020 during the weird Covid year.  I was playing Call of Duty with some teammates in my hotel in St Paul at the alternate site when I got the call.  Emotions are exactly what youd expect them to be.  Excitement and nervousness mainly. It's tough to sleep that night before the debut!

Ive been lucky to play with a bunch of awesome guys. A few older veteran guys that come to mind who were very helpful to me as a rookie are Alex Avila, Adam Rosales, Erik Kratz who I played with on Team USA, Michael A Taylor and Nelson Cruz.

What was your trade experience? Was it as crazy as most players say?
Brent Rooker
12:17
My two trades this year were pretty just cause one came on Opening Day of the Major League season and one was the very last deal of the deadline. I knew it was definitely possible that I was going to get moved at the deadline but once we reached 4:00 I thought i was safe, only to get called about 15 minutes later.

How do you handle being an athlete that is active on social media in a time when so many people feel they have a right to lob insults and even personal attacks from behind the comfort of their keyboard?
Brent Rooker
12:19
I try to take everything with a grain of salt and remember that almost all of the people lobbing the insults and personal attack would trade jobs with me if given the opportunity.

Do you know any of your Current A's teammates prior to joining the team ?
Brent Rooker
12:20
Yes I know several guys.  Kevin Smith is a very good friend of mine and i know a bunch of other guys from playing with or against them in college or the minor leagues.

Hey Brent, just wanted to let you know I gave up a homerun to you in the 2017 college season opener (Marist Submarine pitcher) but now I get to say I gave up a homerun to a Major Leaguer so its a win-win. Wish you all the best1

As a funny note, there is a picture of this swing framed in my house.

Welcome to Oakland! Big A's fan here. Have any nicknames that teammates usually call you?
Brent Rooker
12:24
I have gone by "Rook" pretty consistently my entire life which most guys in the big leagues assume is derogatory and short for "rookie" but Im so used to it i never think twice about it.
baseball fan
12:24
Do you collect baseball cards/memorabilia?  Do baseball players "jersey swap" with other players and/or any players you wanna meet so you can snag an auto?
Brent Rooker
12:25
I have started doing some of this.  Ive got several baseballs signed by guys I've played against and was able to get Yadi to sign a jersey for me two years ago which was pretty cool.

Hey Kevin, I'm a lifelong Oakland fan so I have to give you a really hard hitting question. What is your favourite A's uniform?
Brent Rooker

I really love the green tops and am excited to wear that one.

Hi Brent, any thoughts on the nastiest pitch/ pitcher you've faced? Or way to actually explain to us normals the difficulty of hitting elite level pitching?
Brent Rooker
12:29
I think the toughest at bat I've had was Ryan Pressly during the 2021 season when he was completely dominant.
