How were you notified of your trade? How did it feel being traded for a player such as Sheffield?
Humberto Sanchez
10:14
I was actually in a movie theater and all of a sudden starting getting calls from 313 area codes. Once I answered I was told pick up the following call that it was very important, that call was from Dave Dombroski telling me that I was being traded for Gary Sheffield and that I was being sent home to the BX.

Hi Humberto. What was your “wow, I’m wearing pinstripes” moment?
Humberto Sanchez
10:17
It was without a doubt sharing a clubhouse / Bullpen with Derek and Mariano. Growing up 3 city blocks away from the stadium, heading to the Yankee bleachers with my brother after my little games across the street from the stadium and cheering for those guys and then I find myself shaking hands with them.

10:22
What advice would you give a 16 year old Humberto Sanchez?
Humberto Sanchez
10:23
While I don't have many regrets, I would tell myself to stop being so hard on myself. I was very driven by results from an early age and when things didn't go my way frustration will get the best of me at times.

Any cool clubhouse or on-field stories from that era of Yankees teams that would be okay to share? Player superstitions, team traditions, weird habits, etc. Thanks!
Humberto Sanchez

Giambi's thong was a real thing, 'The Yankee way" was respected, rookies knew their place on the road.

Actually not very tough, it was tougher on my family specially after missing the following year because of surgery. I bet on myself and it worked out.
