I hate that you were traded for only 53 starts from Mulder when you had 361 starts after the trade from the Cards. Do you remember any feelings from getting traded that early in your career?
Dan Haren
6:16
I was caught off guard by the trade, it was before the days of Twitter so I had no idea haha…. I really was so young and just excited for the opportunity to start. Oakland had a good tradition of developing pitchers so I was ready

What’s your thoughts on all the changes right now? Pitch clock more specifically
Dan Haren
6:22
I think the changes were necessary, would have liked them starting at 25 and 30 seconds, not 15-20
Michael

Hey Dan, how many players would you say still chew tobacco? I know they outlawed it in the Bigs but do a lot of players ignore this rule? Do many players/managers smoke cigarettes?
Dan Haren
6:23
It’s fairly uncommon now, when I first came up it was provided for us on the bench haha…. As for cigarettes, very rare, was also more common back in the day

I have worked for the Dbacks since 2017, I took the year off after I retired and realized I missed baseball more than I thought I would.

Hi, Dan. Thank you for taking the time to do this, it’s always interesting to hear the musings of former big leaguers. When you were traded by the Dodgers to Miami in 2015, you mentioned you were likely to retire if you went anywhere outside of Los Angeles. How much of that was being upset in the heat of the moment and how much was you not wanting to play on anything other than your own terms? Did you hold any ill will against the Dodgers for moving you?
Dan Haren
6:32
I didn’t wanna leave California, I knew my career was coming to an end so I wanted to stay close to home. But no way I was gonna retire, was making too much money lol
