Morning, y'all - let's boogie

So, going by your first name, I'm guessing that your parents are golfers? I'm asking only because the Dodgers just drafted a college player named Jackson Nicklaus, who surprisingly is not related to (or named after) the famous golfer of the nearly identical name. Parents: Can't live with them, can't kick them in the Titleists. sunglasses
Nicklaus Gaut
11:00
You are correct!
11:01
Nicklaus was my Dad's favorite golfer by a mile
11:02
Family lore holds that he really wanted to name me Moses but my mom dropped the veto. He then had to "settle" for Nicklaus
But I now believe it was all a ruse and he wanted Nicklaus from the start
Mostly because I tried to do the same thing with my son
ok baseball

Are you concerned with M Gore at all? It’s getting hard for me to trust/start him
Nicklaus Gaut
11:03
Moderately concerned. Walks have always been a bug-a-boo and they're murdering him now
5 BB/9 since June, 2.6 prior
11:04
Been throwing his non-fastballs outside way more and no one is biting
The Rascal
11:05
The Mariners are releasing France, and the Braves have just signed Merrifield. What are the Yankees waiting for when it comes to moving or releasing DJ? His stats are much lower than either.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:05
He's just deadweight at this point - don't suspect he'll make it into August
Bull Rider Blues
11:06
Where would a kid like Leodalis De Vries fit in this year's draft class? De Vries worth stashing for the long run?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:07
Top-5 for sure
Worth stashing just as much as most of the other top first round guys in this class

Nick, I need good SP performances, especially WHIP and Ks. Would you start Snell at the Dodgers or Knack vs. the Giants this week? Snell should also get a home start vs. COL this weekend.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:09
In a vacuum it's Snell over Knack but that'll be really risky if WHIP is a concern
11:10
But that COL start is a potential monster
should get it btw

11:10
If you were looking to get off to a quick start this week, would you stream any of Arrighetti @ Oak, Pallante @ Pit or Lynn @ Pit? Or too much disaster potential?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:11
I think Arrighetti is a solid stream
Stay far, far away from the other two
11:12
Damn it - I just accidentally deleted someone's question about ROS for a handful of players. I'm sorry
It was Nick Loftin disappointment-fueled
Blake Snell
11:13
Am I back enough to be started on the road against the Dodgers in a H2H categories league?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:13
yes...he says hesitantly
11:14
A blowup is Always on the table with Snell but the K upside balances it out me thinks

11:15
What are your thoughts on D Swanson? He was just dropped in my league and I could use some middle infield depth. L Garcia and G Lux are also available.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:15
If you have room to let him sit on the bench as a lotto ticket, sure
But if you need someone to start, I'd rather have Garcia
GBS42
11:16
I could also sit K. Gibson (vs WAS) or Webb (at LAD, which seems weird to consider, but he's just been OK with his WHIP).
Nicklaus Gaut
11:17
Fine with Webb but I don't love that Gibson start
Robles vs Butler
11:18
With my disappointing Jacob Wilson IL vacancy, I have a choice of picking up Lawrence Butler (age 24) or Victor Robles (age 26). Both are scorching hot, both are former top prospects, and both play for teams with a huge need for offense. Who's the better bet for this year? Who's the better investment for next year?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:19
I'll say Robles for both
11:20
If he continues to get on base like he has the past two years his speed will finally starting cashing him in
11:21
The problem is trusting the last 200 PA more than the previous 1600+

What's your current position/philosophy on drafting, and holding on to rookies? Mainly I'm thinking of Jackson Chourio, who took over two months to really be worth starting in a shallow league. Kicking myself for dropping him, but then again, I did it after two months and for TJ Friedl? Basically, trust the process or flawed process? When do you move on, if at all?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:22
In shallow leagues, your hook just has to be faster. Sure, Chourio might have burned you some but there is just less time to wait on underperforming rookies in leagues with really deep wires.
