Odds westbrook stays with clippers?
Dana Gauruder
3:02
Now that they didn't get Chris Paul, I'd say 75-25 that he re-signs. I just know what market there is for Westbrook beyond the Clippers, and he'd like to stay L.A.

What can the bulls do to become better this off-season? What options do you see available?
Dana Gauruder
3:07
The Bulls have been awfully quiet. I do feel they'll trade either LaVine or DeRozan. I found it amusing LaVine doesn't want to go to Knicks. That would a logical landing spot. Miami could get involved for either one -- they want to do something bold and Lillard is apparently off the table for now.

What will the Knicks do in the trade and free agency market this offseason?
Dana Gauruder
3:10
As mentioned above, I see the Knicks being in the market for another big-time player -- they have the assets (extra picks) and young players to do something bold. However, I don't think the Knicks HAVE to make a big move. They have a playoff team already and can just allow the core group to continue to build chemistry. But that's never been the Knicks' way. I think they'll be in the market for a big-time wing or PF (if they decide to move on from Randle). I also think they'll deal away Toppin -- just doesn't seem to be a future for him there.

If you had to predict, which players will join AND leave the Rockets thru FA/trades? At this point they’re already looking at a roster crunch.
Dana Gauruder
3:14
I imagine you saw the latest report that the Rockets might make a run at both Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks There's also conflicting reports whether they'll truly pursue a big offer to Harden (instead of VanVleet). There was also a report they'd pursue Brook Lopez. With the most cap space, seems likely they'll bring in an experienced PG and perhaps a vet center like Lopez who can play 20-30 minutes and mentor Sengun.

Blazers have to make this trade, i think it is the only realistic trade that will keep Dame around. OG+Boucher for Simons and 2 1st round picks. Salaries match. Raps have to say yes, Blazers need to keep Dame and it appears OG is enough to keep him happy. Otherwise dumping Dame for Herro and a bunch of bench players is pointless?

Just a reminder to everyone, if Lillard had requested a trade yesterday when he and his rep met with Cronin, then we could compare the trade packages the Heat, Raptors or any other teams could offer for him. Lillard didn't do that -- he gave the front office the go-ahead to improve the team. Anunoby is a good player but is he that much of a difference-maker to give up a young player and picks. Maybe if you insert Siakam instead, I think that would be an interesting deal.

Any chance someone has an idea of who the top 10 players are that are in the Vet Min. level?

Thanks!
Dana Gauruder
3:24
Not really, simply because most players obviously want to sign for more. You get a better sense who's scrounging for a minimum deal after most of top and mid-tier players are off the board. Some exceptions may be a team like Phoenix, which will have to fill its roster out with minimum guys but can hold the carrot of chasing a ring. Guys like Aaron Holiday, Justise Winslow, Watanabe, Jevon Carter, Stanley Johnson, Dario Saric, Harrell -- those are types of players who might be searching for a deal.

What are the chances of the Celtics freeing up some cap space and improving their wing depth with someone like Ja'Sean Tate? Feels like he'd be a great fit systematically.
Dana Gauruder
3:27
I think a lot depends on the Grant Williams situation. Obviously, the Celtics don't have a lot of PT to offer him now that they have Porzingis. Perhaps a sign-and-trade is an avenue they can explore to get a rotation piece back for him.

So the Trade of Poole for CPS makes the Warriors even more Old, Small, and Unathletic.  I don't get it.  And then they doubled-down and Drafted another Guard.  Is Steve Kerr determined to play 5 Guards on the Court at the same time?  Is the Front Office not aware that the Nuggets and Lakers have large Frontcourts and we need to match up with them in next year's Playoffs?  There is NO SIZE on this Roster.  Might be the Smallest team in the NBA.  Where's the freakin' SIZE ?
Dana Gauruder
3:31
The Paul acquistion was a concession they made a big mistake giving Poole that huge extension. The Wizards did them a huge favor by taking that contract off their fans. In the short run, having Paul to take those minutes should at the least ensure the offense will flow when Curry and/or Thompson is off the floor. Right now, the priority is re-signing Draymond but the backup center spot needs to be addressed. You are right, they are undersized even if they re-sign him.

Will Brandon Miller win MVP for Buzz city? 🏀.
Dana Gauruder
3:33
You've got high expectations for the new guy! Making the All-Rookie First Team would be a first step and the playing time will be there for him to achieve that. Miller has the talent to be a perennial All-Star and it will be fun to see in pick-and-rolls with Lonzo.

Is the Utah jazz done or will they remain active
Dana Gauruder
3:36
They seem pretty set in the frontcourt now, right? Plus they have a few more rookies to develop. The next step is to address the backcourt -- big question mark is whether they can re-sign Clarkson. I think the Jazz could still be active in the free agent/trade market to reshape their backcourt.

Any chance the Heat target a big to move Bam off the center spot
Dana Gauruder
3:38
Doubt it, for the simple fact that he's not a perimeter shooter. It's tough these days to have 2 bigs on the floor who can't a stretch a defense. Only way to slide Bam to PF would be to have a Brook Lopez type, who can provide a consistent outside threat. I don't get the sense that making Bam a PF is in the cards.

3:38
With recent rumors of an "outlandish" trade for the cavs out there...would a trade centered around Garland for Brandon Ingram work? Who would want more from the other side or would it be even?
Dana Gauruder
3:42
I don't completely dismiss this because it would certainly solve the Cavs' SF problem. But then what do you do with the backcourt? You'd have to get another backcourt starter, plus Ingram has trouble staying out of the trainer's room. Maybe it would work if Cleveland also got a solid guard in the same deal.

What are the chances Kyrie bolts since he couldn’t recruit LeBron? Worried if he leaves Luka will be frustrated with roster building of Mavs
Dana Gauruder
3:45
How many choices does Kyrie have? The Lakers don't seem all that enthralled bringing in Kyrie, not to mention he'd have to take less money than the Mavs can offer. Dallas seems intent on re-signing Kyrie, so I would be surprised if he doesn't stay put.

Is Houston really going to offer FVV that massive deal? Why? Amen T. is the future and needs to start now....spending that much money for a team that won't make the playoffs is ridiculous. FVV isn't changing their fortunes?
Dana Gauruder
3:49
The Rockets have money to burn -- more cap space than any other team -- and they're aiming for proven vets to join  their young core. I think that was a selling point for Ime to take that job -- they wanted to make a free agent splash. I think the plan is to go with a lot of three-guard sets -- Amen has the size to play SF defensively and he could share ball-handing responsibilities offensively.

Please tell me the Twolves are gonna trade KAT now and let ANT take over this team????  Regain draft capital and get a PG .     Keep prince and let ANT do his thing while Naz and McDaniels continue their upward trajectory !!!
Dana Gauruder
3:52
Well, the Timberwolves are going to spend a good chunk of their cap space on 3 frontcourt players if they retain KAT, Gobert and Reid. The complication is the huge extension KAT signed last summer. That's a huge commitment for a team trading for him, given all his injury issues. Despite that, I think there are teams (Knicks? Heat?) that might roll the dice and hope he can stay on the court more often.

3:52
I know there’s no crystal ball, but where do you put the odds of Dame wearing a different jersey by the end of the 2023-24 season?
Dana Gauruder
3:53
70 percent that he eventually asks for a trade by the deadline. I guess it's possible the Blazers could make some great, splashy moves to instantly improve their fortunes. More likely, Lillard will finally get to the point where he'll have to chase a ring elsewhere.

3:55
If the Heat waive Lowry, do you think he could make a triumphant return to Toronto?
Dana Gauruder
3:56
It wouldn't be the last time a player who spent the bulk of his career in one city returned for a second stint late in his career. I'd say that would be a strong possibility.

3:56
Who are some higher-level Restricted Free Agents you could see being pried away from their current teams with a competitive offer?
Dana Gauruder
3:59
Cam Johnson and Grant Williams immediately come to mind. The Pistons seem intent on giving Johnson a "blow the Nets out of the water" offer, though Brooklyn might still match. Williams, as mentioned earlier, doesn't really have a big role on the Celtics with Kristaps in town. Of all the prominent RFAs, he's the one most likely to swap uniforms.

Has there been any indication Kuzma would like to play in Sac?
Dana Gauruder

Haven't heard anything specifically but it seems more and more likely they'll let Barnes walk. He'd be a logical replacement and join a much better team.
That's all the time we have for today. Luke Adams will take your question on Thursday.
