ARTHUR HILL
12:01
Welcome to this week's chat. We'll start with a question on the new champs.
Celtics
12:01
Off-season blueprint: extend Tatum and White re-sign Kornet. Draft center to learn and eventually replace Horford. Sounds like the favorites to win next year's championship
ARTHUR HILL
12:04
The Celtics' offseason plan certainly appears clear. Tatum will get a max deal, and White should be signed long term as well. Kornet may not be as certain, but he becomes more valuable with news of the Porzingis injury. With the core of the team set for years to come, Boston will be in excellent shape to add more titles.
Trog
12:04
Can the Mavs sign Derrick Jones Jr. using their MLE/BLE or is he now priced out of their range?
ARTHUR HILL
12:06
I think he'll want to stay with the team where he had a career breakthrough. He has a clearly defined role with the Mavericks and he's very good at it. I would be surprised if he gets a large enough offer from another team to make him leave Dallas.
Landry
12:06
How real is the buzz of Clingan at 1?
ARTHUR HILL
12:09
I think he's legitimately in the mix with Sarr and Risacher. A defensive anchor is a very valuable commodity, and it's a bonus if he can develop other parts of his game. Clingan worked out for the Wizards at 2 and the Rockets at 3, plus there are rumors that several teams want to trade up for him, so I expect him to go off the board early.
Derrick
12:09
If JJ Redick is hired as the new head coach of the lakers, do you think he will be a good one?
ARTHUR HILL
12:12
It's a difficult situation for anyone, and especially for somebody with no coaching experience. LeBron James will turn 40 soon, Anthony Davis' injury history is always a concern and the rest of the roster is unsettled. Throw in a loaded Western Conference, and there's no guarantee for success. Plus we know the coach tends to get blamed when things go wrong in L.A. I understand the reasons for Redick's interest, but I don't think it will go well for him.
Orioles
12:12
Two part question.Would the Wizards consider trading the #2 pick for extra draft compensation,or do they draft the player they are looking for at pick #2?
ARTHUR HILL
12:15
Unless the Wizards can get two top 10 picks in return (from San Antonio, for example), they should stay at No. 2 and take the best player available. Washington needs building blocks for the future, and there's no guarantee they'll pick this high again for a while.
Randy
12:15
What is your predictions for the Hawks offseason, thanks
ARTHUR HILL
12:18
I expect them to keep the No. 1 pick, but they'll listen to offers up until draft night. I think they'll trade either Young or Murray, but probably not both. It depends who can give them the best return.

Klay unfollowing the Warriors.  Should we be concerned he's leaving?  I mean the Orlando rumors are getting louder by the day
ARTHUR HILL
12:20
Everyone keeps saying the unfollowing thing is standard procedure in negotiations, but at the very least it can be viewed as a sign that Klay isn't positive that he's staying in the Bay Area. I still expect the Warriors to give in to his demands and keep the core of the dynasty together, but the Magic are a definite threat if a new deal isn't in place by June 30.
Tim Duncan
12:20
If you are the Spurs GM. Do you A.  Trade 4 and 8 to get the 1 pick B. Trade 4 and 8 for immediate help or C. Keep both
ARTHUR HILL
12:24
There have been rumors over the past week that the Spurs are interested in moving up to draft Risacher as a gift to Victor Wembanyama. It seems like a high price to pay, but the French forward does possess an intangible value to San Antonio. The priority should be finding a point guard, preferably one with some NBA experience, so I wouldn't part with both picks unless I was filling that need.
KJ
12:24
To be kind, who do think will be sitting in the green room longer than anticipated?  I feel Ron Holland's stock has dropped a bunch
ARTHUR HILL
12:27
The major mock drafts remain volatile, and all it takes is one team to be impressed by Holland for him to come off the board early. He's got obvious athleticism and good positional size, so someone could buy into his potential. Among players who may slide, Nikola Topic's injury has obviously hurt his draft stock, and it seems like Rob Dillingham isn't as highly regarded as he was a few weeks ago.
Ibisha
12:28
Will the Suns use the #22 and draft a PG or a Center? What do you think the biggest need is? Do you see a trade of the pick?
ARTHUR HILL
12:30
First-round picks come with guaranteed salaries, so I expect a lot of teams with apron concerns to unload them on draft night. Phoenix may have the ultimate win-now roster, and it's hard to imagine someone available at No. 22 in a weak draft who can help right away. I think it's one of the most likely first-round picks to be traded.
KJ
12:31
If you are the Nets Gm and the Houston Gm calls you and offers the 3rd pick. Dillon Brooks and 2 of your original picks they got in the Harden trade for Bridges are you hanging up or are you making dinner reservations?
ARTHUR HILL
12:34
Brooklyn has reportedly been turning down really good offers for Bridges, and there was another story this week saying that the Nets view him as part of their foundation and hope to find another star to play alongside him. Experts say there are some really good drafts coming up, and that deal would give Brooklyn a chance to tank its way into a possible No. 1 pick. It seems like a better path toward relevance than they have now, but the front office seems set on keeping Bridges.

Please tell me the Bulls aren't drafting another wing with long arms that can't shoot? I can't afford another TV right now.
ARTHUR HILL
12:38
Cody Williams, maybe? It's possible if he's still on the board at No. 11. There's a lack of great shooters in this year's draft and it could be hard to find one in that range, so it may be wise to secure your television before Chicago's pick is announced.
Walt Frazier
12:38
Do the Knicks use any of their draft picks
ARTHUR HILL
12:41
I expect them both of the first-round picks to be available, just like on draft night two years ago when New York was clearing cap space to sign Jalen Brunson. Free agency is the Knicks' priority this summer, and the roster will get very expensive if they re-sign Anunoby and find a way to keep Hartenstein. They don't need more guaranteed salaries, so rival teams could get bargains at No. 24 and 25.
Ty Lue
12:41
Even though I signed the extension, should I be nervous JVG is my lead assistant now?
ARTHUR HILL
12:43
The Clippers are confident in Lue, and I don't think Van Gundy really wants to be a head coach again. The Lue rumors can be put on hold for a few years.

12:43
With the negotiating window now open, what do you think is a fair price for Miles Bridges?  Do you think it's likely they give Miles a number he accepts before hitting the open market or do you think he insists on negotiating with other teams as well?  Thanks!
ARTHUR HILL
12:45
Unless he gets a near-max offer from the Hornets, I think Bridges will want to explore the free agent market to see what his value is. I believe he's most likely to stay in Charlotte, but there will be interest from other teams.
Sarr
12:45
Sarr seems like the guy in the draft who has the most potential to turn into a star. Why wouldn't the Hawks take him?
ARTHUR HILL
12:46
He doesn't have a proven track record, and he's kind of small to develop into an NBA center. I understand why scouts like him, but Atlanta would be drafting solely on potential.
Pat Riley
12:47
Is this going to be the first year in a long time that we just don't have the ammo to go star chasing or do we have enough to pull something out
ARTHUR HILL
12:48
The Heat are always star chasing, and you can count on Riley to take a big swing at whoever becomes available. Other than Bam Adebayo, every asset should be considered tradable.
Me
12:49
Rumors Bulls declined trades for Alex C for top 10 pick. Good or bad move by Chicago
ARTHUR HILL
12:50
I see Caruso's value as much higher than a lottery pick in this year's draft, plus the Bulls don't seem ready to rebuild. If they decide to move him this summer, they can get better offers.
Deek
12:50
Is there anything left in Gordon Haywoods tank and is he the seasoned vet who does a little of everything for a team like ...the Spurs?
ARTHUR HILL
12:52
He could be a nice veteran addition for someone if he's willing to sign cheaply. He wasn't a good fit for the Thunder, but I believe he can still contribute in a bench role and San Antonio wouldn't be a bad spot for him to land.
Team Building
12:52
Feels like the Hawks are trying to build their roster 2-15 to fit around Trae Young (as their 1). Shouldn't they be looking to build a team 1-15?  TY has always felt more like a Robin than a Batman to me
