If you had to guess would you say harden is more likely going back to Houston or staying with Philly?
Dana Gauruder
1:33
I'd put my money on Harden leaving. I don't think he's going to change his mind based upon the coach. The only thing Philly was concerned about was that Embiid was good with Nurse as the coach. They met up before Philly decided to bring in Nurse. I think Harden's motivations for going to Houston have nothing to do with a better opportunity. He just wants to be there. I also see a possibility of FVV signing there if/when Harden bolts. VanVleet had a good relationship with Nurse.

Is their any current player the Spurs would trade VW for??
Dana Gauruder
1:37
Perhaps Giannis? The Joker? If he's a potential Hall of Famer, why wouldn't you want to develop VW in your organization and re-sign him to the max a few years down the road. I know ESPN and other sites threw out some wild potential deals but that was just for fun, really. I don't see any scenario where San Antonio would trade the pick unless they'd get an MVP level player in return.

For all i have read about the new CBA, even if its too early to guess, it seems that harms the "middle class" players, and therefore stacked/contender teams to retain those kind of rosters. Even if a lot of people complaint about the Cavs vs Warriors "era", GSW turned themselves into a huge market with one of the largest fanbases of the league wich restuled in more profits for the entire league. Why hurt the possibility of building "super teams" or near-super with the new CBA? to me it hurts players and the league as a whole.
Dana Gauruder
1:41
Remember the CBA has to be approved by the owners. There has to be some competitive balance there. That being said, the cap is expected to grow substantially in the coming years. So you can still have 2 or 3 studs on your team. Looking at the Finals, the teams there aren't super teams but they're extremely well-coached and well-constructed. Going back to the Warriors-Cavs, is it really a good thing for any sports league to have little to no suspense who's going to play for the championship? I think it's better for the league to have more parity.

seen all kinds of crazy trade proposals for lottery picks.  Realistically what would the value of pick 9 of 10 be?
Dana Gauruder
1:46
Depends on the teams that hold those picks. Right now, Utah and Dallas hold those picks. Utah has 3 first-rounders -- they might package those picks to move up. Dallas is more likely to trade that pick for a veteran player. Shedding salary could also be a motivator -- the Mavs could use that pick to entire a team with cap space to shed a bad contract or two so they'll have more flexibility to sign a top FA.

Is trading Brown actually the right move for the Celtics? It doesn't seem like they can get a piece that will extend their window in exchange for him, and they're hamstrung by the new CBA.
Dana Gauruder
1:49
A lot depends on whether they feel Brown wants to stay beyond this season and how much they value him. Brown's leverage certainly isn't as strong after his subpar playoff performances but they could still get a nice package for him now. But really, if the Celtics feel the need to shake things up, their options are pretty limited beyond dealing Brown.

If the C's decide to pursue an upgrade at the point over Marcus Smart, who do they target? Fred VanVleet isn't the answer there.
Dana Gauruder
1:52
Unless Lillard or Young are put on the market, I don't know if you can find that player via trade or free agency. Brogdon was supposed to solve that issue -- the injury limited him at a crucial time. If you peruse the list of point guards around the league, there aren't many quality ones available.

What are the chances lonzos contract could become an injury exemption from the cap?
Dana Gauruder
1:56
They could apply for a DPE (Disabled Player Exception) but that's only if it's determined he can't play at all next season. I don't think he's ready at his age to retire.

What is your opinion what the Bulls will do with Lavine and Demar?
Dana Gauruder
1:57
I think one of them will be dealt this summer. Regardless of what happens with their center situation (Vuc's free agency), I just don't see them running back the same core group and expecting dramatically better results.

Any truth to the Bulls aquiring the 3rd pick from Portland? I imagine a lot of smoke right now but seems to be a lot of smoke.
Dana Gauruder

There are several teams that seem to be sniffing around the lottery, looking to go up or down. As stated above, I think the Bulls will be very active in the trade market. Makes sense for them to target a player like Brandon Miller or Scoot Henderson. I do think the Blazers would likely to move that pick and the Bulls won't be the only team looking to make a deal with them.

Should LAL go after Kyrie and let DLo, Beasley, Bambang go?  Keep Schroeder, Vanderbilt, Reaves, walker 4
Dana Gauruder
2:03
Retaining Reaves and Hachimura has to be high on the list. As I've stated many times before, I don't see Kyrie as the answer there. It would be great for entertainment value and media looking for controversies to have LeBron and Kyrie on the same team again. I just don't think it would work out. That being said, I don't think they'll retain Beasley or Bamba. Not sure about Russell -- if free agency doesn't go so well for him, maybe they bring him back at a reasonable price. But re-signing Russell is not a high priority.

Is Spencer Dinwiddie a target Brooklyn could make PG-needy teams overpay for? Or do they keep him and try to build around him, despite his relative age and injury history?
Dana Gauruder
2:07
Well, they're not going to build around him but he's a solid player. He's entering his walk year, so that would probably lower his trade value unless the acquiring team is looking to shed long-term salary. The Nets are much more likely to make trades to unclog the glut of wings. They could acquire another guard in those deals to provide more competition for Dinwiddie.
Warriors
2:08
Since Bob Myers stepped down who will take over his spot? Also where do u think he will end up?
Dana Gauruder
2:11
In the short run at least, I think Myers is just going to enjoy having a lot more free time. I get the sense it was burnout more than anything that led to his decision. Maybe he'll get the itch to get back into the league in a year or two and whenever he does, he'll have plenty of organizations ready to embrace him. From all indications, Mike Dunleavy Jr. will slide into his spot. He's waited his turn and he's ready for the bigger challenge.

How good should we honestly expect the Spurs to be after drafting Wemby? There are like three players total who immediately led their franchises to the playoffs after being drafted, and Magic and Duncan are two of them.
Dana Gauruder
2:11
The Spurs were a really bad team this season. Their defense is atrocious.
2:12
Even a player as talented as VW isn't going to change that overnight. I don't see Spurs making the playoffs by just dropping him into the lineup but they can build around him.
KJ
2:13
As of right now how many trades do you see in the first round? I would say at least three definite because I have a feeling Portland is not going to hold on to the three pick the magic is not going to take two youngsters and Utah has three picks
Dana Gauruder
2:14
I think three is a low number, probably a very low number. When you have teams with multiple first-rounders, there's bound to be some action. We may see three picks in the lottery alone get dealt and probably a few more the rest of the first round.

If the heat goes on to beat Denver where does that put Jimmy Butler as far as the pecking order I mean I don't think would be Giannis and Steph Curry level but I think that put him past Devin Booker PG-13 thoughts
Dana Gauruder
2:19
It would certainly cement his legacy as being one of the great clutch players in the league. If you look at what his reputation was when he forced his way out of Minnesota some years ago, Butler has really changed the way his career is viewed. Miami is the perfect place for him -- that tough-minded culture they've built down there and Butler is the shining example of a player who gets the most out of his ability. You're right, he won't surpass Giannis or Curry in the pecking order but he'll one up a lot of star players who haven't won a championship.
Twolves
2:19
What would a Towns trade look like? Who would be interested? And would this trade work Towns to Orlando for Isaac, Suggs and several 1st rd picks?
Dana Gauruder
2:22
Minnesota would probably not be enthralled with Isaac, who has had even more injury issues than Towns. You can't sub Carter in the deal because the Wolves have Gobert. I still think Towns to the Knicks makes more sense with Randle and a good young player or two being part of the package.
Rocket fan
2:23
What would a trade cost the rockets to get Trade Young from Atlanta
Dana Gauruder
2:25
Perhaps Jabari and Green and some first-round picks? Yes, they'd have to really go all in to get a star player like Young. I doubt just trading Green or Jabari with draft assets would be enough.
Wayne Simmons
2:25
Is Brown for the third pick and other assets something you consider? Scoop would give this team a new look
Dana Gauruder
2:27
Hmmm, that would a consideration for Portland as long as it's still intent on building around Lillard. But I think the Blazers would need some assurances they could extend Brown after the season. Doesn't make sense for them to do that for a one-year rental.

Have any thoughts on how much of a drop off there is between Amen and Scoot in this draft? As a Rox fan…I keep seeing a lot of fans act like we need to trade up at all costs (if we don’t trade the pick for a vet). But I keep watching Amen and low key thinking we should just sit tight, pick him and not overthink things…he looks nice
Dana Gauruder
2:31
The fact that Amen was with Overtime Elite instead of Kentucky, UConn, UCLA makes him more of a mystery than other prospects. But the talent is there and I think that next tier of players in the lottery will have plenty to offer. Look at No. 4 (Murray) and No. 5 (Ivey) last year -- the Kings and Pistons got quality at those spots. Houston certainly has to look at trade offers but there's plenty of reasons to retain the pick.
That's all the time we have for today. Enjoy the first few games of the Finals!
