Does Brooks return to Memphis? If not, how much is he worth on the market? Vet minimum for subpar offense and okay defense?
Dana Gauruder
2:03
By your evaluation of his talents, he's not worth much! If the Grizzlies don't rally in this series, they'll be doing a lot of evaluation of how to get deeper in playoffs. One of those ways would be bring in another wing to replace Brooks. If they retain him, I don't think he'll get much more than he's currently getting, which is around 11-mill. I could see another team offering him the mid-level in free agency, i don't think teams with cap space will devote a good chunk of their money on him.

What is wrong with the Cavs? They've spent the whole series playing like they don't even want to win. This is more than inexperience or getting out-hustled.
Dana Gauruder
2:06
Give the Knicks some credit, their D has been excellent. Brunson and Barrett have played exceptionally well and they've made alterations to the offense (more Brunson and non-big men running pick and rolls). Cleveland needs a lot more than they're getting from MItchell, that would be a start. The SF spot has been a season long concern and Barrett has eaten their wings. Plus, Cavs don't have a lot of answers on the bench. I don't think it's inconceivable they could come back in the series, but seems unlikely at the moment.
Fox injury
2:06
Do you see the Dubs swarming the non-Fox Ball-handlers on Wednesday night?  Seems like the right Strategy to use to force some Turnovers.
Dana Gauruder
2:08
First question is whether Fox will try to play through the injury and how much the finger injury would affect if he tried. Certainly, putting much pressure on their guards makes sense. Except for Game 3, the Kings have gotten pretty much what they've wanted offensively.

Should the Raptors try to blow it up and rebuild around Barnes? They're kind of lacking in young impact players, but Siakam, OG, FVV, Poeltl, and Trent could all fetch nice returns.
Dana Gauruder
2:12
At this point, the only way they can truly "blow it up" is to trade Siakam and/or Anunoby, and not try to re-sign FVV and Trent. Both their guards are expected to opt out. I don't get the sense that's what the Raptors are planning. Their were issues between the front office and Nurse, as well as a lot of injuries (especially early in the season). My feeling is they'll look for a coach that can get more out of the core group and develop a better bench. I don't know if they can afford to re-sign both FVV and Trent but I don't believe they want a full rebuild.

Besides Wemby, are there any other franchise-altering players in the draft the Spurs could use to get themselves back to the island of relevancy?
Dana Gauruder
2:15
Scoot Henderson gathered some critics after being basically anointed the second-best prospect in draft. He didn't play particularly well in G League but I haven't seen anyone pass him in rankings. Miller, of course, is a major talent but remains to be seen how the gun incident will impact his draft status. Wembanyama is considered a generational talent but I'm sure there will be plenty of solid players in the draft, he's just overshadowed everyone with his promise.

Since the Bulls have no draft picks or Cap space, Trades have to be inevitable right?
Dana Gauruder
2:16
It's their best path to improvement, for sure. That's why I see either LaVine or DeRozan being dealt.

If Draymond Green opts out, how much does he get in FA?
Dana Gauruder
2:19
I really would be surprised if he opted out at this point and tested the market. There are really a dearth of contending teams with cap space. He'd have to get an offer somewhere involving a sign-and-trade scenario. Now, if the Warriors reach the Finals, Green has more incentive to take that route.

How long of a leash does spoelstra have in Miami? It wasn’t the most impressive season but now there up so all is forgiven.
Dana Gauruder
2:21
Given his resume, I can't see Spoelstra losing his job there unless they collapse a blow the first-round series.

With the recent hire of Ime Udoka and the pressure on Stone next season. Do you see a big trade for a star not named Harden if they don’t get a top 3 pick in the lotto?
Dana Gauruder
2:24
I don't think Udoka took the job for a couple more years of rebuild. Udoka has some clout, given that he took the Celtics to the Finals last year. Their best path to improvement is for Green and Smith and the young guys to improve, especially at the defensive end. But I do think they'll bring in some veteran help, not necessarily superstars, but guys who will echo Udoka's message of accountability.

The playoff first-round has been all must-see TV or snoozers with little in between. That said, who is due a break-out game in what remains of the first round?
Dana Gauruder
2:28
Mentioned him earlier. I just have to believe Mitchell will erupt with a huge scoring game at some point. I don't know how much last night's game will play on the Bucks' psyche, but Jrue is due for a big bounce-back game after scoring under 20 the last couple of games.

Where does westbrook land next yr? Can clips retain him? What kind of contracts
Dana Gauruder
2:30
I would think he'd prefer to stay home in LA and he's not going back to the Lakers. He'll be an unrestricted free agent, so he can test the market and see if there are other teams out there who would give him at least a full mid-level. But I think ultimately he'll work something out with the Clippers.

Hi rank highest to lowest AAV for Westbrook, FVV, DLo and Schroeder.
Dana Gauruder
2:32
VanVleet will easily get the most in free agency. Russell would be No. 2 on that list, followed by Westbrook and Schroeder.

Based on reports that have now come to light, how much blame does Nick Nurse deserve for the Raps underachieving?
Are the Celtics going to waltz into the finals with the Bucks dying a quick death?
Dana Gauruder
2:37
There's plenty of blame to go around for the Raptors not performing to their talent level. Nurse certainly has his share of the blame, as the second unit was a mess. But the core guys deserve plenty of blame, too. They had enough talent at the top to win 10 more games and didn't get it done. As for Celtics, I'm not counting out the Bucks just yet. I think Boston will beat Philly but if Embiid's knee injury doesn't limit him too much, that will be a tough series. I do think Boston will make the Finals, they've been my pick all season, but waltz into the Finals? No, it will be a lot tougher than that.

Think hornets change any of the coaching staff in offseason? 🏀.
Dana Gauruder
2:39
A couple of assistants may come and go but I don't think they're moving on from Clifford. The iffy ownership situation could change things, but I don't think a coaching change is a priority.

Are the Nuggets the clear favorite to make the Finals from the West?
Dana Gauruder
2:41
They're the top seed and have the pieces to get to the Finals. Definitely the favorite, but the Suns and Lakers will be tough outs if their stars remain healthy.

If the Bucks lose in the first round, what do their offseason look like?
Dana Gauruder
2:44
Given their contract situation, they can only do some tinkering unless they deal Middleton's contract after he opts in. But he'll be making 40-mill and coming off an injury-plagued season so that would be a hard sell. Just have to sign another free agent with their mid-level and hope for better luck. But again, it's not over yet.

Love traded and Rubio at bench... Isn’t that throwing away vets experience?
Dana Gauruder
2:47
Love was bought out after his role diminished. They brought back Rubio after he suffered a major injury and he's not the same player. Rubio has had zero impact in the series playing limited minutes and that's all he can get in Cleveland behind Mitchell and Garland.

the Fox is doubtful things seems like to me a chess move by Brown to make GSW think  he is out. I say Fox plays and very little effect on broken finger. Is Brown trying to out play kerr?
Dana Gauruder
2:49
Wow, that would be quite a ploy. No, I don't think the league would be down with that. It's not a matter of dribbling, it's also his shooting hand. How do you get a normal release with a busted index finger? Guess we'll found out in about 7 hours, if he does play.
Trae Young package
2:49
IF the Hawks were to decide to move on from Trae Young, what kind of return do you expect they'd receive from another team?
Dana Gauruder
2:52
A pretty sizable one. At his best, he's one of top guards in the league, led the Hawks to the conference finals just two years ago and is in his prime years. Remember the package the Jazz received for Mitchell? Markkanen, Agbaji, Setxon and three unprotected first rounders plus pick swaps? That would be the baseline for the Hawks if they opted to trade him.

Trae for KAT pretty much straight up.  Who says no?  And isn't it actually a decent fit for both teams?
