Thanks for the early questions, guys! Plenty to talk about even with the trade deadline in our rear-view mirror. Let's dive in...
NBA

What punishment do you think Isaiah Stewart receives?
Playoff P
2:01
Do you think the league will suspend Isaiah Stewart for at least 20 games?
Luke Adams
2:03
I doubt it'll be 20 games unless some details come out that make it look even worse than it already does. I imagine five games minimum. Maybe 8-10, since this isn't Stewart's first incident, and a pregame incident like this sorta seems worse than a heat-of-the-moment on-court punch.

Is 2024 draft as bad as It looks like?
Luke Adams
2:05
I'm no draft/scouting expert, but it seems like the general consensus is that there's no obvious stars at the top, but there still could be solid role players up and down the draft.
2:06
The 2013 class might be a good comparison. Anthony Bennett was the No. 1 pick that year, and Cody Zeller and Alex Len also went in the top five. But there were some solid players elsewhere in the top 10 (Oladipo, Otto Porter, KCP, CJ McCollum), with a couple stars later in the first round (Giannis, Gobert), and plenty of productive rotation players (Steven Adams, Olynyk, Schröder, Tim Hardaway Jr., etc.)

Think any more buyouts are coming? Bigs would be interesting
Luke Adams
2:09
I don't see a ton of centers who look like buyout candidates. I still expect Marcus Morris to be cut by the Spurs at some point, and he could play the 5 in a small lineup, but there probably won't be many traditional bigs out there.
2:10
As for other buyout candidates... could see maybe Evan Fournier and Otto Porter hitting the market. Atlanta has a few vets on expiring deals who have underperformed (Patty Mills, Wes Matthews, etc.) though we haven't heard any rumors about them yet.
Bucks
2:10
Any chance PJ Tucker gets a buyout
Luke Adams
2:11
Sounds like this isn't happening, given the player option on his deal for next season. I'm sure the Clippers would do it if he gave up that option, but he's not going to make that money back in free agency, so I doubt that happens.
Cavs Legend
2:11
Cans the Cavs find a 3rd big or wing on the buyout market? Basically just for injury assurance. Noone is going to play over Wade/Status/Okoro
Luke Adams
2:13
Robin Lopez is out there if they're interested in a RoLo reunion. In terms of wings... maybe Danuel House or Kevin Knox? The buyout market isn't all that exciting with Dinwiddie and Lowry off the board, though Marcus Morris has some value if/when he's officially waived.

Grayson Allen leads the NBA in 3-point percentage yet is not in the All Star game 3-point contest. How come?
Luke Adams
2:14
I believe there was some chatter out there that the NBA gauged his interest and he essentially said he wouldn't mind having a vacation instead. For what it's worth, given that star players are far more inclined to participate in the 3-point contest than the dunk contest, I feel like the league probably prioritizes bigger names there, regardless of their percentages.

Would you rather have had Kuzma,PJ Washington or neither if you were a Mavs fan?
Luke Adams
2:15
I like Kuzma more than Washington, but the price would've been higher. The Washington/Gafford duo probably helps the Mavs overall more than just Kuzma would've.

2:16
Would u shut down Bane & Smart for the season?
Luke Adams
2:17
We don't really know where they're at in their respective recoveries. If they're feeling 100% healthy by the end of February, sure, bring 'em back. But I doubt the Grizzlies would mind if the medical staff isn't ready to clear them before the end of the season.
MavsMan
2:17
We have seen Mavs players from both the Carlisle and Kidd eras who don't engage or have a noticeable drop off defensively, and then immediately go off to re-establish themselves with another organization. The old joke is the Allas Mavericks are playing (no D). You can trace back to players like Wes Matthews all the way to Grant Williams. Is this due to fast paced style of play? Or do the Mavericks need to reevaluate their coaching staff and style in order to play both ends of the court? Early returns look good so far on Gafford and PJ, but I fear they may form bad habits the longer they stick around.
Luke Adams
2:19
I'm not convinced there's enough of a pattern there to draw any conclusions about the Mavs' system or staff. There was at least one report suggesting that Williams reported out of shape in the fall, so that could've just as easily been about a player taking his foot off the gas after getting paid rather than anything related to the Mavs specifically.

Do the Rockets look to move on from Jalen & Tate in the offseason
Luke Adams
2:21
I'd be slightly surprised if Tate is back next season. I have less of a feel for what the plan is for Green. Of the six young "core" players, he seems to be the one who's most at risk of being traded right now, so if the Rockets make a big move this offseason, I could see him being included in it. But they're not just going to sell him off for 50 cents on the dollar.

Why doesn't Podziemski any love in rookie of the month contest? He been putting up solid numbers the last 20 plus games.
Luke Adams
2:22
Holmgren and Wembanyama are having two of the best rookie seasons we've seen in the last decade or two. Every other Western Conference rookie is understandably gonna get lost in their sizable shadows, but Podziemski has had a really nice year and looks like a strong All-Rookie candidate.

I am not planning to watch the All-Star Game on Sunday. How bout you?
Luke Adams
2:23
I'm sure I'll have it on because it's my job to follow the NBA, but given the general compete level in the All-Star game, I certainly won't fault any fans for not tuning in.

Does the Celtics acquisition of Springer say anything about their (lack of) confidence in JD Davison?
Luke Adams
2:25
Based on how little he's been used in his first two seasons, I'm not sure they have big plans for Davison. So, I guess in a way the answer is yes. But I don't think they had him in mind when weighing that trade -- just the opportunity to add more young backcourt depth on the cheap.
Worth noting that with the Celtics projected to be over the second tax apron for the foreseeable future, their avenues for improving their roster are very limited, so acquiring a player like Springer will they could makes sense, since he's someone they'll be able to retain for the next few years if they want to.

Baseball has seen more of a stigma attached to players who have had DV incidents than the NBA or NFL. It was disturbing to me how light Bridges' was and now that the charges have been dropped and he's technically a one-time offender I'm sure he'll have teams ready to offer him million$.  What do you think about all of this?
Luke Adams
2:27
With the caveat that we don't know exactly what happened in the alleged incident(s) involving Bridges, I'll just say that what we do know doesn't look good for him and I wouldn't feel great if a team I cheered for decided to pay him big money to play a key role. I think there are some front offices that feel the same way, but all it takes is one team to talk itself into the idea that he's learned his lesson and will be a model citizen going forward.

Who do you think the Wolves will sign for the 14th and perhaps 15th roster spot?
Luke Adams
2:29
I like Marcus Morris for them. He's the sort of veteran whose leadership and toughness would come in handy in the playoffs for a team that doesn't necessarily have a ton of postseason experience.
2:30
Giving Evan Fournier the chance to play with his fellow Frenchman Gobert also makes some sense to me. It'd be nice if they could find the sort of play-making/scoring guard they thought they were getting in Shake Milton, but the options are limited. Korkmaz is another option, but he isn't really that player.

Is our future extremely bleak?
Luke Adams
2:32
I don't think the ceiling for the current group is high, but there's still enough talent on the roster that a retooling or rebuild could net them some solid assets and put them on a more promising track. I guess it'll turn "bleak" if the front office won't acknowledge defeat and keeps chugging forward with only minor tweaks to the current roster.

What is the Raptors plan? RJ has already shown he cannot be the best player on a team, and Barnes looks like he needs more time to develop. Do they somehow trade for a big name? Do they tank (I know people are down on this draft). Not sure what they have to offer other teams. When is Masai on the hot seat?
Luke Adams
2:34
Barnes and Quickley are solid pieces for the future. They'll need to figure out who else will be part of the core, starting with Barrett and Poeltl -- not sure either player is a lock to stick with the team long-term. Keeping this year's first-rounder would be nice, even given the relative weakness of this draft. A top-six pick gives you, at the very least, a good shot at a starter-caliber player, if not a star.
