Pistons

What moves do you see the Pistons making?
Dana Gauruder
11:12
Certainly, they have no use for Noel. They've been used him. They're committed to giving Duren, Stewart, Bagley, etc. minutes at the power spots. Burks and Bogdanovic are a trickier call. Those are the kind of vets they'll need to make a playoff push next season when Cade returns to action. However, if they can get an unprotected first rounder for Bogie, that would be hard to pass up. Wouldn't shock me if they moved on from Bey for the right package. Seems as if he's already hit his ceiling.
11:15
Do you think the NBA's annual Christmas Day ratings will go way down this Sunday? I do, given that there are NFL games on the same day. They won't have a captive audience like they usually do.
Mike Blue
11:17
What are the Hornets going to do?  Will they ship out veterans including PJ Washington?  They have so many youngsters they need to get a better evaluation of going forward, playing current lineup makes no sense.
Dana Gauruder
11:21
I think they'll be extremely active. If they don't make a lot of moves, it won't be from lack of trying. Certainly, I think they'd like to move Rozier and Hayward's contracts. At this point, Rozier might be the more desirable piece, given Hayward's injury history. They've got some expiring deals -- Oubre's $12MM might be enticing to some contenders. As for Washington, he'll be a restricted free agent in the summer. That might give Charlotte some flexibility -- a team could take a flyer on him and not re-sign if it doesn't work out. They'll definitely have a different looking roster after the trade deadline.

What will happen with Miles Bridges this season?
Dana Gauruder
11:23
The court proceedings have dragged on. Last I heard is that he pleaded no contest and the NBA is still investigating. Don't think you'll see any movement with him until the league announces its findings and any subsequent punishment.

Is it really only going to take just one 1st round pick plus salary to get Beal to the Lakers?  I know the wizards will get off a long term contract and get a ton of cap space but this seems like a no brainer for the Lakers?
Dana Gauruder
11:25
They can get lots more than that for Beal. They just signed him to an extension. Yes, the Wizards have been lousy this season but he's their best player and they've got him locked in for multiple seasons. If they ever decide to trade him, they'll still get a nice haul with multiple first rounders.
Hi me
11:26
Will the Jazz make a trade by deadline?
Dana Gauruder
11:29
Still 6 or 7 weeks until the trade deadline. I don't think the Jazz will just be content to make the playoffs and get bounced in the first round or play-in tournament. They're not good enough to win a championship, so I still see guys like Clarkson and Beasley being available at the right price. I will give props to Markkanen for the season he's having. I didn't see that coming.

What piece will the suns get for Crowder, is Kuzma a viable option in a 3 team trade?
Dana Gauruder
11:32
Yes, ideally that would be the type of player the Suns would like to get in a Crowder deal. I don't see that being a two-team swap, since Crowder wants to go to another contender will to re-sign him. I don't see the Wizards trading Beal or Porzingis but I think their other pieces are available at the right price.

11:32
With Curry out and not sure how bad his injury is.  Shouldn't GSW hold off on making any trades until they know Curry's status 100%?
Dana Gauruder
11:35
Yeah. And even if Curry were healthy, I don't see this team repeating. Just too many red flags. I know Curry/Thompson were out but when you're giving up 91 points in a half, that tells me there's more to it than just having their best player out. I don't think making a move for immediate help is going to change the picture much.

If you're the Mavs GM, how do you right the ship? Are there ancillary pieces that would bring back this team into contention? Or is it time to punt on the season and hope for a lottery pick?
Dana Gauruder
11:38
Kind of a hard sell to punt any season when you've got Doncic. If he gets injured, then you might consider doing something along those lines. Perhaps their most tradeable commodities are the expiring contracts of Powell and Wood. That might work for a team looking for cap relief next summer. They could certainly use a high-impact big man or wing.

11:38
Which path do you see the Raptors taking come deadline time?
Dana Gauruder
11:42
It's interesting that the writers around the team and national media seem to believe they might go into major sell mode. I still think they can be a factor in the East when they have all their pieces on the court. Their bench needs reinforcements, no doubt. If Barnes can ever shake that sophomore slump, they'll be OK. Even though his stats haven't changed much from last season, I expected more from him after such a solid rookie campaign.
Xmas day games
11:42
Remind me why the Knicks and Lakers were added to the Xmas Day schedule after the season's they had last year ......
Dana Gauruder
11:45
New York and Los Angeles markets. There are plenty of Knicks and Lakers fans out there, and they are passionate about their teams, regardless of how well they're doing. New Orleans, Memphis, Milwaukee, etc. have far superior and more exciting teams but they don't have the big fan bases of the major cities.

How will the Cavs fill the hole at SF? Osman and Stevens are fine, and Okoro is turning things around, but you'd think a permanent answer would be better.
Dana Gauruder
11:48
They've got to be encouraged by how well they've performed through the first 30-35 games. That gives the front office some incentive to add another piece before the trade deadline and see if they can become even more dangerous. If they trade for another wing, I'd have to think LeVert's expiring contract would be part of the package.

I also appreciate you guys for basketball live chat I will spread the love thank you so very much
Dana Gauruder
11:52
Kings fan, I had trouble figuring out your question earlier. I believe you were asking if there was a player on the trade market that could make them even stronger. They appear to be sniffing around the trade market, looking for an upgrade, most likely in the frontcourt. Overall, though, the moves they made in offseason appear to be panning out.

Why do Lakers fans think it's the duty of other teams to act as a Lakers farm team?
Dana Gauruder
11:55
I think there are many fans like that all over the country. Nice to dream -- can we get your best player without giving up too much while getting rid of guys that we're not enamored with in the process? It's nice to dream about but doesn't work that way.

O.G. to OKC, Giddy and a big to Raptors, with 4 first rounders.
Dana Gauruder
11:56
That would seem like an awfully big package for Anunoby. He's a good, solid player but he's not a superstar. I'm sure the Raptors would jump at that deal.
Jahlil Okafor
11:57
I have been playing pretty good in the GLeague, will I get Called up soon ?
Dana Gauruder
11:58
I think he'll be a prime candidate for a 10-day deal next month, with the possibility of signing a rest of the season contract.

With the recent winning streak do u think chicago will still trade players?
Dana Gauruder
12:00
Two wins isn't much of a streak. If they can sustain a good stretch for a few weeks, there will be less pressure on the front office to go into sell mode. Otherwise, DeRozan might be the biggest name on the trade market -- he's the type of "all-in" player you go for if you feel you're one player away from a championship.

LeBron recently said he wants to play until he’s 45. Does that mean he wants five years as Bronny’s teammate or just at least one season?
Dana Gauruder
12:02
You've got to figure some way, somehow it's going to happen that they'll play together. I guess it will be a year to year thing with LeBron. He's been playing since he was a teenager -- how much longer does he want to put his body through the rigors of an NBA season? I'd be surprised if he reached Brady levels, but I wouldn't total discount it.
Dwight, Boogie, Hassan
12:03
Kind of surprised no Team has needed a throwback, traditional Center yet, with all of the recent rash of Injuries league-wide.  These 3 all could still provide Rebouding at an elite level.
Dana Gauruder
12:04
As previously stated with Okafor, you might see at least one of them get a chance when the 10-days become available next month with the hope of a rest of the season deal once the 10-day expires.
That will wrap up our live chat. Please join Luke Adams on Tuesday for our next one at noon CT.
