Should Zion be taking more 3s? He seems to have a decent feel for them, but his volume is extremely low. Would that open up his offensive game even more?
Dana Gauruder
11:04
I prefer him using that powerful body inside the lane, where he can use his strength to overpower defenders and kick it out to shooters when the D collapses on him. They've gone through this recent stretch without Ingram, who's a solid 3-point shooter. They have other perimeter options as well. Put it this way -- defenses would be glad if Zion hung around the 3 point line rather than dealing with him down low.

Is Herro finally coming into his own? Back to back 35 point games with a career high 41 last night. Or will he always be seen as JJ Reddick on steroids
Dana Gauruder
11:06
He got Sixth Man of the Year for his offensive prowess and that big extension for the same reason. The question with Herro has always been whether he can defend well enough to stay on court in crunch time. Miami needs his shooting big-time at the moment with some guys out and others having subpar seasons.

Warriors need a PG with Curry out.  Poole is no PG he is a SG.  So what PG would be available cheap to get GSW until Curry gets back?
Dana Gauruder

If you can our current free agent list, there are quite a few vets out there they could pursue if they choose to go that route. There are some other second and third-string vets on other roster -- Cory Joseph comes to mind -- they could pursue. Certainly, this is an opportunity for Moody to show what he can do. I would think it would become a bigger issue if they think he'll be out more than a month.

With the East still a morass in the middle, which team breaks through? Pacers look good, but the Heat and Raptors are right there with them and have more experience.
Dana Gauruder
11:15
The Sixers should finish in the top 6 if they can get Maxey back next month. They can't expect Embiid to put up 50 every night. Not sure what to make of the Pacers -- really like those 2 young backcourt stars and they have an excellent coach, but not sold on the frontcourt pieces. The one team that jumps out at me is Toronto. Some of their guys were in a shooting slump -- looks like FVV is breaking out of his -- plus several starters have been injured. If they can just get their main guys on the court at the same time, they should make a nice run.

When is the GLeague Showcase event and who are the Players that Scouts will be most Interested in Signing to their Teams?
Dana Gauruder
11:19
I believe the showcase event ends next week. As for which players might be targeted, that's tough to say at this point. When the league starts allowing 10 day contracts next month, there will be more clarity as to which players not already on an NBA roster will get signed.

Will the Knicks get any offers for rose or Fournier? Wasted talent and money rotting on the bench.
Dana Gauruder
11:23
It would be easier to move Rose than Fournier due to contractual obligations. There's a club option on Rose's contract for next season, so a contender looking for point guard help that had the ability to trade some salary and an asset could look in that direction. The club option on Fournier's contract isn't available until the 2024-25 season, so he'd be harder to move. Any team that wanted him would view him as a reclamation project.

Is Kuzma the likeliest member of the Wizards to get dealt? Where do the Wizards go from here?
Dana Gauruder
11:26
The Wizards have been one of the league's disappointments and you'd have to think Kuzma would be their most desirable trade piece (Beal isn't going anywhere). Suns, Kings and Knicks are some of the teams rumored to be interested. The caveat is Kuzma had a player option next summer and will assuredly use it, so he'd basically be a rental.
Turner for Wiseman?
11:27
What are the chances that the Pacers cut their Losses and swap out Myles Turner for Jame Wiseman?  He is a pending Free Agent and unlikely to resign.  Might as well get a young Big Man that is under Contract rather than losing Myles for nothing.  Warriors could always use immediate help now rather than waiting on Wiseman to devlop.  Win win, No?
Dana Gauruder
11:29
Would make sense for the Pacers. Not sure if that would work for the Warriors. They'd be giving up on Wiseman for a rental, unless they want to add to that monstrous payroll and tax bill by re-signing Turner. In the short run, certainly would be a nice add for the Warriors to have that type of shot-blocking presence and he'd be energized going to a serious contender.

Do you see Brandon Miller and Taylor Hendricks as primary 3's or 4's at the next level?
Dana Gauruder
11:33
You've got a couple of college freshmen who are 6-9 and still growing into their bodies. Considering the way the league has gone in recent years, I'd consider them power forwards at the next level. There are all kinds of players who previously would have been looked at as small forwards who are now mainly playing the 4.

11:34
What do you think the best case scenario for a return if the Wizards trade Kuzma?
Dana Gauruder
11:36
Another veteran player the Wizards can plug into the rotation and a protected first-rounder? That would be my educated guess. As previously noted, Kuzma is going to opt out and it doesn't make sense for him to sign an extension because he can make as an unrestricted FA. So, that limits the return Washington can get for him.

11:37
When will the NBA stop scheduling back-to-back games? It's clear that players will sit out the back end of the back-to-back and it's not fair to the fans who pay money to go or want to watch it on TV. I think it would make more sense to play crossover games in the other conference on it every other year cycle to limit travel and the back-to-back. Also I would rather see more in conference games since that's who you competing with the playoffs
Dana Gauruder
11:39
We did a Community Shootaround recently regarding players missing so many games these days compared to (for example) 20 years ago, even though there were more back to backs. The league has tried to shrink the amount of back to backs and I believe they've eliminated 4 games in 5 nights. But it's tough to completely get rid of back to backs without stretching out the season. The other obvious reason is that many teams share their arena with an NHL team, which complicates scheduling.

11:40
Why would teams actively want to acquire Pat Bev given how terribly he’s played this season?
Dana Gauruder
11:43
His track record. As recently as last year, he was an effective rotation piece for the T-Wolves. They liked how he made them a little edgier and tougher. They needed his salary to match things up in the Gobert deal. At 34, Beverley obviously doesn't have that many years left in the league but someone might take a flyer on him.

11:44
Which teams actually need Bradley Beal AND can afford to give up the necessary assets? Could Orlando be a sleeper with an eye towards contending next season?
Dana Gauruder
11:47
Beal would have to ask for a trade first. He's got a no-trade clause and would have to waive it. I don't know if he's ready to wave the white flag and demand a trade 30 games after signing a long-term extension. If he were to waive it, you'd think he'd want to go to a team that's already a contender that could acquire him without destroying their core group.
Draft
11:47
Are the Pistons going to run a Stewart/Duren/Wembanyama frontcourt if they land the No. 1 pick? Would be amusing to watch. By the same token, if they get No. 2 and take Scoot, a potential backcourt with him, Ivey and Cunningham? Fit be damned when the best talent is available?
Dana Gauruder
11:51
It would be an interesting decision at No. 2, though I can't see any team passing up VW unless there are injury concerns. I'm sure the Pistons would be thrilled to have that dilemma. Throw in Bagley into that mix -- you'd think they'd wind up dealing Stewart or Bagley so there'd be enough minutes to go around at the power spots. Would think actually draft another PG when they already have Ivey-Cunningham backcourt, plus Hayes, who seems to be a much more confident player this season? In that scenario, they might be willing to trade the pick if they can get a solid young player and a pick in return.
KingsFanForLife
11:52
should the Kings make a big move to go from the playoffs to Finals contention? If so, who could they try to get
Dana Gauruder
11:54
Considering the long playoff drought, just securing a postseason spot would be a major step. If they could squeak into the top six, that would an even bigger development. I could see them trying for a roster upgrade, probably at the forward spots, but I don't see them making an all-in move until they actually get a taste of the postseason.
Warriors
11:56
If the Warriors continue to struggle, could you see a potential Draymond Green trade before the deadline? They would save a tremendous amount of money in luxury tax and potentially get some value back. The fact that they are a 500 team right now cannot all be a championship hangover. There has to be something else going on
Dana Gauruder
11:58
I don't think it's out of the question. Certainly, if they flounder without Curry and there's a general sense heading toward the trade deadline that they're not going to make another deep run, they would have to at least explore the market for Draymond. A contender looking to upgrade its defense might consider him the missing piece, and perhaps he'd be energized by a change of scenery.
Hornets
11:59
Are there any teams in a worse spot than Charlotte right now? Maybe the Wizards? I don’t see how either of them can become contenders in the next few years the way things look right now. Just not a whole lot of talent around Ball and the Wizards should have traded Beal two years ago when he still had prime value instead of a $250M contract.
Dana Gauruder
12:00
Both teams certainly have a lot of questions to answer. The Wizards weren't playing even before Beal's hammy injury and the Hornets don't have much beyond Ball. I could see them in fire sale mode with guys like Rozier heading out.
