Saddiq Bey has attempted the most corner threes this season, but his FG% on those attempts is only 28%.  Last season, his FG% from corner 3's was 42%.  Do you believe the Atlanta Hawks should offer him a contract and/or match any reasonable qualifying offer since he will be a restricted free agent?
Dana Gauruder
11:04
I wouldn't base my decision just on what he does on corner 3s. I remember in his rookie year I think he made 7 or 8 3s without a miss vs. Boston. Bey doesn't have the athleticism of some other forwards but he's a solid, hard-nosed player who's at least a quality second unit guy going forward. Really just depends on what he and his agent are shooting for, contract-wise. If he's willing to go in the 15-20 mill range, he'd be a good signing. Wouldn't worry too much about him being an RFA. I doubt there's a team that would value him that much more.

What will the Magic likely do before deadline?
Dana Gauruder
11:06
They don't have to do anything, given where they are in the NBA pecking order. They have a good shot to make the playoffs but nobody's expecting them to challenge Bucks, Celtics, Sixers, etc. for a title. You might see them go after a quality guard and big man if the price isn't too high. Otherwise, they can wait for the postseason to make them more dangerous in the postseason.

Will the bulls do anything before deadline?
Dana Gauruder
11:08
They're wallowing in mediocrity at the moment. I'm sure they'd love to move LaVine if they can find someone willing to take on his contract. I'd also have to think DeRozan, who could help push a contender over the top, could be gone by the end of next week.

Any Pacers rumors floating around after their trade for Siakam?
Dana Gauruder
11:10
Doubt it. We haven't even seen their potential with Haliburton-Siakam combining their talents yet, due to Haliburton's injury. The Pacers made their big move and now it's just a matter of how the Siakam addition will work out.

There been more complaining about officials this year than ever. Does the NBA need to go to 4 man crew or a better rating to get rid of bad refs?
Dana Gauruder
11:14
I know the NBA rates their officiating, and officiating crews, quite extensively. If there were better officials out there, they'd already be in the league. As for adding another official, do we want parades to the free throw line every game? The problem is the players feel they have a license to whine and complain about every call or non-call. Perhaps what the league really needs to do is crack down on the chronic complainers.

Tired of our team losing. When will Mitch K and coach Clifford get fired? Will we ever become a playoff caliber team?
Dana Gauruder
11:17
They put themselves in a bad spot with the Hayward signing a few years back. That set back the franchise right there. The other issue is Ball's inability to stay on the court. Can't have your franchise player consistently in and out of the lineup. I would be surprised if Kupchak and Clifford lasted beyond this season. I think the franchise needs a fresh approach. They've got another building block in Miller but overall, changes must be made.

Josh Hart exercised his player option two days before it was reported that Obi Toppin was being traded to the Pacers.  But he signed his 4 year $81 million contract extension a full month after the Toppin trade.  What are your thoughts about his potential future with the Knicks' based on Hart's recent comments concerning his role and playing power forward at only 6-foot-4, “Yeah, it took me 40 games. It’s a process. Obviously it’s not something I thought it was going to be like entering the year."  Who do you believe Hart thought was going to play power forward when Julius Randle was resting?
Dana Gauruder
11:20
Unless the Knicks swing a deal for some power forward depth, you're going to see some smaller lineups. I don't think they're going to give Achiuwa heavy minutes until Randle comes back. So, Hart will just have to accept whatever role Thibs gives him. He doesn't have any leverage, considering he's locked into that extension.

What do you make of Dillion Brooks?  Dirty or hard nosed? Would you want him on your team?  In baseball there'd be some retribution from offended team, the unwritten rule.
Dana Gauruder
11:23
Not a fan of the agitators. The thing about Brooks is he can be a solid all-around contributor without all the extra stuff. I felt he hurt the Grizzlies with his antics last postseason and they seemed eager to see him leave. Let's say I'm curious to see what happens this postseason if the Rockets claim a spot.
Ben 10
11:23
How do you see Ben's role and value at the nets given his lack of shooting and reluctance especially during last quarters. Will he be on the trade block or will he find a spot on the nets roster
Dana Gauruder
11:25
Given he's been out so much, I don't think there's any trade value there. Best case scenario is he produces like he did last night. 10/8/11 in 18 minutes with no turnovers? If he give you nights like that, he'll definitely be a valuable piece, either as a starter or second unit player.

Should the Cavs stand pat at the TD? They have enough young players they can try out and they can pursue the buyout market if they find a backup big they like. And they've been on fire, but haven't gotten a chance to see how their fully healthy roster actually meshes. Seems like analyzing that this season and figuring out moves in the offseason makes the most sense.
Dana Gauruder
11:28
In past weeks, I got several questions about whether the Cavs should make some major changes. I insisted they're pretty solid when they have all their core players available. They've been pretty solid even with a couple of starters out, and now Garland and Mobley are coming back. Perhaps they'll look to fortify the wing or guard depth but otherwise, let's see what they can do with their core guys healthy.

Do the Sixers use their draft assets and come away with one of Murray, Markkanen, Herb Jones, Miles Bridges, Mikal Bridges, or someone of that ilk.  Or do we see them target a role player and use less draft capital?
Dana Gauruder
11:30
Morey has maintained all along they'll preserve that huge cap space for next summer unless there's an impact player out there that can put them over the top. Would a player like Murray get them past the Celts and Sixers and Bucks? Perhaps. More likely, they'll make a lower level move.
Troell
11:30
Do the Knicks finally trade Fournier to fill in for Randle and/or supplement Hartenstein?
Dana Gauruder
11:31
I think they are almost compelled to make a frontcourt move, moving Fournier and/or some of their stash of first rounders.
Darvin Ham
11:32
The lakers are right around .500, lebron and ad have been healthy. Should the lakers fire Ham? Last night first game of back to back game plays Lebron almost 40 minutes down 30, coming off a double OT win. Never looked to the bench for energy when rui has been playing well offensively, also isn’t starting Vanderbilt who seems to have his minutes restrictions lifted. He made adjustment in the playoffs last year but this year seems to have regressed as a coach.
Dana Gauruder
11:34
Really, it's what LeBron and AD want, right? If the front office believes there's too much of a disconnect and/or player frustration with the coach, they'll make that move. The difference here, compared to what the Bucks did, is that the Lakers made the conference finals with Ham in charge last season. I think he just needs to settle on a lineup and rotations. Too much tinkering has been an issue.

The Toronto Raptors seem to have a bunch of players who could be dealt. In your opinion, which (if any) of those players will be playing meaningful playoff minutes for another team?
Dana Gauruder
11:36
Barnes isn't going anywhere, so anything they do won't be at the level of the Anunoby and Siakam deals. Three obvious trade candidates are Brown, Trent and Schroder. Given what Brown did in postseason last year, I think there's a good chance he'll be flipped. Shooters are always valuable, so I could see Trent being moved as well. Schroder may not have much trade value but could interest a team looking for a backup point.

Who do you have winning the Super Bowl?
Mike Hawk
11:37
Would you agree that my Hawks have done a horrible job with AJ Griffin and Kobe Bufkin so far?
Dana Gauruder
11:38
Would have liked to see the Lions get there. I like SF with their skill guys in a close one.

While noting that this year's draft is widely considered bad... do you like any players to be impact NBA players from the 2025 draft?
Dana Gauruder
11:39
The 2025 draft class is too far down the road to have an opinion on that. But it has to be better than the crew coming out this year.
11:41
As for the Hawks question, they invested heavily in Snyder to make those roster/rotation decisions. I wouldn't be surprised to see Griffin getting moved, seeing how little they've used him.

Who says no... Bojan/Burks from the Pistons to the Knicks for Fournier/Grimes/Arcidacono and the Pistons heavily protected 2024 1st? Bojan would be a great fill in while Randle out and be a scorer off the bench when he gets back. Thibs loved Burks when he was in NY
Dana Gauruder
11:43
Perhaps, though as noted earlier the Knicks may have to focus on getting some power forward help as well.  Bojan struggles defensively and I don't know if he could guard PFs. You'd have to go with a small lineup and have Anunoby guarding bigger guys. Shooting-wise, the Knicks would obviously benefit from having two quality perimeter threats added to the mix.

Any out of the box trade possibilities for the Milwaukee Bucks?  Everyone knows about the interest in every wing defender to ever grace the NBA(Thybulle, Caruso, Grimes, Murray).  All of those are unlikely to to the Bucks utter lack of Draft capital and prime contracts.  Any around the margins moves you see as possible?
Dana Gauruder
11:45
It's going to be very difficult, given their lack of assets and low trade value beyond their core guys.

If Quin convinces the Hawks to keep Dejounte, should we go get Collin Sexton or is his play level at unsustainable? Can't remember him being this impactful before in his career.
Dana Gauruder
11:49
Sexton averaged 24 points and 4 1/2 assists before the knee injury in 2021. He was relied upon heavily but the Cavs didn't have the frontcourt talent they possess now. So, yes, it's quite sustainable. He's only 25 and probably needed a year to regain full confidence in the knee. The flip side is that Danny Ainge is a shrewd negotiator. If the Lakers want to go in that direction, they'd probably have to give up a guy like Reaves to make it happen.
