OK kids, we're going to start our chat in about 10 min.

Ok, let's get our chat started. Go....

Hi Gerry, Will we have a new punter this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
No. Jordan Berry is the man, though I like the leg on Matt Wile

If the Steelers decide to trade Dobbs what do you think they could get for him?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
Probably a seventh-round pick, 6 if they are lucky
Andy

what do you think the chances #26 doesn't sign and #30/#38 total +100 yrds against Clev?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
Even if 26 does sign, it's still a possibility. Bell wont get many carries in the first game, even if he is here and does start. But that Cleveland defense is improved.

Gerry, I always appreciate your Steelers coverage.  In the past, players like Bettis, A. Smith & J. Farrior were consider great & effective locker room leaders.  Does today’s team have that same effective leadership?  Based on the antics of some team members (Brown, Bell) & the Jacksonville loss, I’m not so convinced they do.

I think the times are a little different, even though we are not far removed from that era. I think the players are more tolerant of their teammates' behavior, probably because most of the "antics," as you call them, are on social media, away from the locker room. There seems to be more allowances to let the players express themselves, even though I find most of those expressions tiresome, bothersome and self-aggrandizing.

Gerry-What is your "surprise" cut and what odds do you give for a QB trade?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
I think the odds are decent for a QB trade. I think they will try to help Dobbs get to a team he might prefer as opposed to cutting him and leaving him there for anyone to sign. Surprise cut? Nat Behre maybe

Hi Gerry, what did the Steelers give up for Switzer and does this mean the end of Fitz T. career in Pittsburgh?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
They swapped what will probably be a low fifth round choice for what will probably be a higher sixth-round choice, plus Switzer. And, no, it doesn't necessarily mean the end for Fitz

Gerry, Any news on prospective TE's? Not looking too deep with all the injuries. Will any of ours be able to play tomorrow night?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
No, none of the top 3 will play tomorrow. But they believe all should be ready for Cleveland, but we shall see, I'm still not sure about McDonald, who has done nothing.
KB
11:06
Has McDonald started practicing yet?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
Nope
Jeff
11:06
I know its been mentioned a lot but is there any talk or interest from the F.O on Mack.
Gerry Dulac
11:06
Sure, if they could get him for a fifth sixth or seventh round draft choice.

I will be traveling to Pittsburgh for my first home game this year.  Can you recommend any good restaurants or bars that wont be packed?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
What's your preference? And when?
Erric Pegram
11:07
Gerry-I live in Charlotte and have seen this game in-person a few times (hard to watch but kid friendly).  Is this game really worth it or would the NFL be better off holding  2 pre-season games and extending the regular season by 1 game?  I would think the owners would get more revenue based on pre-season attendance and overall it is 1 less game for the players.
Gerry Dulac
11:09
That's the feeling of a lot of people, but you would still have the same problem of players not appearing in at least one preseason game. Of course, that means there are two fewer preseason games in which a lot of the starters wouldn't play much, if at all.

Are you now more optimistic or less so about the upcoming season than right after the draft? In other words, has camp/preseason been positive, negative or neutral?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
Neither. Good or bad, I try to read not too much into the preseason. If the Steelers would have won 51-0 in Green Bay rather give up 51 points, I would have been no more optimistic than I was pessimistic. It's the preseason, I do not make rash judgement. I have pointed up several times and will do so again -- the Browns were 4-0 in the preseason last year

Gerry, When I watch the Butler play I can't believe he weights 268. How can you cut a kid with speed, power and plays aggressive. At the very least put him on the ps.
Gerry Dulac
11:11
Well, that's where he was last year. I agree, he has the physical tools. But sometimes that's not enough.
Tony
11:12
Terrell Edmonds looks pretty good so far. Does he have what it takes to start the season successfully if Burnett isn't ready?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Yes he does, but I think Burnett will be ready to go
Rob
11:12
Does Terrell Edmunds start by seasons end?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Yes

Gerry, Switzer is from WV, has exceptional speed and is white......this kid is White Lightning. I hope white lightning strikes tomorrow night at Heinz field.
Gerry Dulac
11:12
He will get a chance, that's why they acquired him
Ikey
11:12
Gerry so how do you feel about Mathew Thomas now.. I really think he has the potential to steal the starting spot by week 4
Gerry Dulac
11:13
No, he won't be a starter, but he'd make my 53-man roster. And I think theirs, too
Tim
11:13
Hi Gerry, do you feel Jaylen Samuels is a lock to make the team? And if so, how much use do you see him getting this season?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Lock might be a strong word, but he's close to that after last week. But I don't know you will see a lot of him during the season unless there are injuries...or Bell doesn't show.

Is TJ Watt practicing in full today?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
No, but he's close
