I'm back from a couple week hiatus so get ready....we're going to start our chat in just a few minutes.
10:50
OK, let's get started...Go!!!

The Steelers drafted Marcus Allen safety whose strength is against the run as I understand it. But, assuming he makes the team, if a QB sees him on the field does he not simply audible to a pass play? If so, why have him.
Gerry Dulac
10:51
That doesn't mean he can't play the pass. It just means he's better against the run. Plus, unless there are injuries, I don't think he will be on the field much in the sub-packages.

Hello. I would like to get your impression of ILB Matthew Thomas so far based on OTA and rookie camp. I know that practices do not mean much without the pads but a good performance still beats the alternative. Thank you very much
Gerry Dulac
10:51
Right. Ask me again when we get to training camp. But there's no question he's athletic. Now let's see how he can take on a block or make a tackle

do you think ben gets too many get out of jail cards with all his mistakes? he alone account for 14 points given to the jags last year, and then he always says " i'm so proud of those guys" !!! wonder how pround they are of him?
Gerry Dulac
10:52
I think they all know the team is only going as far as he takes them. Their playoff loss was not his fault, not when the offense scores 42 and loses.

Gerry, can you help me understand how the new kickoff rules will impact onside kicks?  I read "Until the ball is touched or hits the ground, no player on the receiving team may cross its restraining line or initiate a block against the kicking team in the 15-yard area from the kicking team’s restraining line."  Wouldn't that give the kicking team a huge advantage if they have to stay 5-yards behind where the onside kick will land, but the kicking team gets to pursue it on kick?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
I'm not sure I understand it myself or just which unit it favors most.

Any chance we go after dez Bryant? Saw an espn report that said we are interested and that it would be a good fit for us.
Gerry Dulac
10:55
Wouldn't make any sense w AB, JuJu and rookie James Washington. Plus, the last stupid thing this team needs to do more is waste more space and money on an offensive player when their issues are on defense.
Jamie
10:55
Do you think Navarro bowman would be a good fit for us? And is there interest? We could use the help at ILB and even though he has injury history, would be an upgrade over what we currently have.
Gerry Dulac
10:55
Would make more sense than Dez Bryant, that's for sure

Ron Cook's article yesterday made me think.  Has Tomlin already started making "culture changes" to the team in trading Marta-v-ious (shout out to Gruden), and jettisoning Mitchell, whose mouth kept writing checks his butt couldn't cash?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
Well, they got rid of Mitchell because he can't run anymore, which other teams are also seeing, hence why he hasn't signed. Bryant made sense because they weren't going to re-sign him after the season anyway, not with his history, and they got a third-round pick in return. Not sure it had to do with culture changes, but it can't hurt

Gerry, the team seems pretty comfortable with their guys at ILB. Do you think Tyler M. beats out Bostic as the starter? Any undrafted FA's catch your eye at OTA's? I heard some good things about the kid from FSU.
Gerry Dulac
10:58
Being comfortable with that collection is not a good thing. Once a strength, now average at best
Carlo
10:58
How has Keion Adams looked so far? I realize it is just football in shorts but does he look explosive/athletic?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
I like Keion Adams. I think he gets a good look in camp and the preseason, provided he stays healthy. But it's not exactly like he's Vonn Miller sitting on the bench, waiting to step in

Good Morning Gerry, no real questions this time of the year. What are the things you are looking forward to see or to find out in OTAs and Training Camp?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
There is so very little to be gleaned from OTAs, other than to judge someone's speed, hands or athleticism. Training camp is a better barometer, but not as much as the actual games.

What kind of impact do you foresee Edmunds having this year? Could he truly be a Kam Chancellor type of player?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
We'll see. And so will they. They will give him every chance to have an impact.
TJ Watt

Over or under 9 sacks for me this year???
Gerry Dulac
11:02
Over
SCL
11:02
What are your thoughts on James Washington? What current NFL player does he remind you of?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
Anquan Boldin
SCL
11:02
Who has opened your eyes the most at thes OTAs? Eager to here which of the young guys have stood out the most
Gerry Dulac
11:04
Jaylen Samuels. James Washington
Carlo
11:04
Do you expect Eli Rogers to return once he is healthy?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
Depends how desperate they are for depth. Not sure right now.
Tom from VA
11:04
Hey Gerry - What do you see as the area of biggest concern as far as depth goes for 2018?  OL, OLB, DL, etc.?  Any hope from the practice squad or UFA?  Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
11:06
You forgot ILB. That position has bigger issues than OLB.
SCL
11:06
What are your expectations for Sean davis and Artie this year? Got to be a make or break year for both, right??
Gerry Dulac
11:07
I'm still not sure why everyone asks about Sean Davis. There are no issues with Sean Davis. He's a football player. Artie Burns has to mature and focus a little more when he's on the field. He has to show he's worthy of a No. 1 pick
SCL

Chuks looking like a capable swing tackle so far?
