If you were GM would you give up the 2nd and original 3rd round picks to move up to get D. Bush?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
Heck yeah!

Hi Gerry,  My biggest concern going into this season is the defense, more specifically the LB's and the DB's.  Do you think the off season free agent additions shored up these areas enough to make a Super Bowl run?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
Definitely shored up the defense in this regard: Now you know you have a starting CB opposite Joe Haden and don't have to rely on Artie Burns or any rookie you draft coming in and needing to develop. And Mark Barron will be an upgrade over Morgan Burnett because he has already played that dime LB role.

Why is it we must listen to the babblings of misinformed color analysts who destroy the whole feel of the game atmosphere.  I like a broadcast of the games with just the crowd noise and the public address announcer.  I'll pay $10.00 a game for that.  All else is the same.  Please stop my bleeding ears NFL.
Gerry Dulac
11:02
I can't help you with that but I appreciate the sentiment

Do you think the Steelers will double up at WR this draft?
Gerry Dulac
11:03
No, but they will take one...and high. But they will also draft a tight end, so maybe you consider that doubling up.

Please compare and contrast the two Devins with Ryan Shazier at this time in 2014. Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
11:04
Hard to do. Neither is as fast as Shazier but at least one and maybe both will be drafted higher than Shazier, which could mean both Devins have a higher grade coming out than Shazier

Gerry, in your last chat you answered a question regarding Dupree by saying Tomlin likes him.  In Ray’s chat this week he said Tomlin thinks Dupree has greater potential.  Please allow me to ask after 4 years of underperforming, what has the rest if the world missed that the wizard Tomlin sees in this guy?  This is just another example of why the Steelers defense has been so beatable & an indictment of Tomlin.
Gerry Dulac
11:05
I'm not going to argue with you at all. You didn't hear me say I like Dupree at $9 million

Gerry, are we really going to consider TE in Rd 1 with all the pressing needs on the defensive side of the ball? Wouldn’t it be a better use of draft capital to look for a TE to compliment Vance in the mid rounds? Thanks. Love the chats.
Gerry Dulac
11:07
That will probably be the case. They are not looking for a No. 1 tight end, that is Vance McDonald. What I am saying is, if one of those Iowa TEs in still there at 20, and the players the Steelers are targeting are gone, do not be shocked if the Steelers take a TE. I'm not saying they are, I'm just saying don't fall off your chair.

Hi Gerry, any thoughts on Ed's departure?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
I am sorry to see him go but happy for him. I will still see him almost as much as I always did, which is good. I just don't think he will be riding in the car w us to Cincy, Clev and Baltimore games. Then again, we might sneak him into the trunk.

It's a sad day.

will the steeler pick up a vet rb or will vthgey draft one?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
I don't think they will draft one because they already have two very young RBs at Nos. 1 and 2.

Is it lb or bust in first round Gerry?? I have a feeling if guys are gone it's going to be corner or TE . Have you heard any rumors about guys they love?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
It is never a certain position or bust with the Steelers. If the guys they like are gone, they will be to the next player with the highest grade at a position that needs help.

Hi Gerry. I read that the Bengals have let it be know that they aren't going to draft an ILB in the 1st Rd, which they were thought to do. Does this give the Steelers more of a reason to trade up in the 1st?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
I never believe anything any team might say before the draft. They call that smokescreens

11:11
In your opinion, do think the Steelers should try to trade up in the first round to get a difference maker at a position of need, or sit back and take what falls to them throughout the draft?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
I have always thought that. They are missing playmakers on defense, a difference-maker. If they think they can go and get one, do it. That's what is missing from their defense

Obviously, Rothlisberger  is waiting to see what the new QB contracts around the league are going to look like, would you agree? Still has a year on this contract, is it possible that the Steelers might wait this out and see how his season goes.
Gerry Dulac
11:13
No he is not. If it were up to him, the deal would be done by now. The Steelers know what they have in him and he knows the Steelers have always taken care of him.

If Murray doesnt go #1 to Cards, will there be chaos next Thursday?  I would love to see teams going nutts trying to trade up to get him, live on NFL network.  I'll miss Mike Mayock's input on the draft coverage.
Gerry Dulac
11:14
There is always some type of wrench thrown into the draft proceedings that affect the first round. That will be a good one.

Many mocks predict the Steelers picking Byron Murphy. Doesn’t it seem like they need more of an impact player?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
At 20, you take what you can get. I wouldn't rule out Murphy. Or speedy Greedy. Or Baker. Impact players are typically found in the top 5 picks, maybe the top 7-8.

I was sad to see Ed leave the PG.  Please tell me you're staying...
Gerry Dulac

So was I.

11:17
Good morning, Gerry, and thanks for your time.  If you were pushed in a corner and had to choose yes or no, what's your gut feel whether the team trades up on the first round or not?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
My gut feel is no, only because recent history shows they have been unable or unwilling to do so
Todd Gack
11:17
With three 6 rounders, who do you feel are some late round possibilities the Steelers may be interested in?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
To me, they shouldn't have a late-rounder, any. They have 10 picks. They don't need 10 picks. I'd try to package every pick I have from round 5 on to move up in one of the first three rounds, the first two for sure. They are wasting their time and the players they pick if they use all 10 selections.
