Ok kids, it's a lovely morning for a chat so let's get started....

Gerry, assuming you will deal in hypotheticals, if this team wins one or less of the remaining four, does AR Deuce at least consider the possibility of removing the expired items from the fridge?
Gerry Dulac
9:58
Ore or fewer, Knute, one or fewer. I think he has to at least discuss it. At the very least, he has to consider whether he wants to extend the fridge's warranty, which is due this summer.

If the Steelers somehow make it to the playoffs, don’t you expect them to get blown out in the first round?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
Well, let's see, they haven't won a playoff game in six years, which is the longest drought since they first made the playoffs in 1972. And they have allowed 45, 48 and 42 points in their past three playoff appearances. So, IF they get there, it might be a short shelf life, if recent history is any indication.

Good morning Gerry.  After the JAC playoff loss, Todd Haley was let go.  After Browns loss, both Butler and Fichtner were replaced.  Offense struggles and Canada was fired, and probably KP soon.  We are running out of people to blame for the same problem.
Gerry Dulac
10:01
Now why didn't others think of that?!?!

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the chats.  The Steelers must lead the league in in OL illegal formation penalties.  How can a team like the Steelers make so many pre-snap penalties and lose time outs due to player confusion after 15 weeks of games?  They look so ill-prepared this year and costing them games.
Gerry Dulac
10:02
It is being called all across the league with so much pre-snap motion, not just the Steelers

When Tomlin is retained after this season, will we see major staff changes besides obvious OC?  Second, when Tomlin is no longer on the sidelines, do you see ownership shifting gears with an offensive head coach instead of our 3 prior defensive minded head coaches?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
As for the first "when," yes, I'd imagine you will. As for the second "when," don't know which way they would lead. The best way to lean is find a leader of men.

Given their history as recently as Oh, Canada, isn’t it likely that the Steelers would not pay MT $9.5M to sit on the couch and then another $30M for a risky multi year deal on a new coach, but rather let Mike play out his last year?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
I'm not anticipating any such drastic move

Good morning, Markus Golden inactive last week. Seems very strange, is there something behind the scenes potentially?  Assuming he gets helmet this week due to injuries?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
I think it had to do with making sure they had enough ILBs on the game-day roster because of injuries

Should I be LIV-id about Rahm taking $300M? I’m numb to this now. You?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
Not unless you have to pay it.

Hi Gerry. When do the owners realize that the product they are selling is substandard and that consumer (fans) will eventually stop purchasing said product??? When an automaker devolops/earns a bad reputation, consumers stop reaching for their wallet. I'm sure advertisers/investors of the team are well aware of this.  When do we see actual change????
Gerry Dulac
10:07
I wonder the same thing at times. This is sports entertainment, and what we have been watching is by no means entertaining. Not at all.
Mike
10:07
Excluding the bad snaps, which need fixed, is Mason Cole playing as bad as everyone says he is???
Gerry Dulac
10:07
I don't think so.

Hey Gerry, when the Steelers’ coaches are putting together their game plan, in their ideal world, how do they actually score 28 points on offense? Is it perfectly executed running plays that are impervious to any defensive adjustment because they are just so dominant mixed in with a deep ball here and there? I guess I just don’t understand what their offensive philosophy is and whether they are even trying to score 25+ points or if the goal is just to stay close with good defense and put together 2-3 scoring drives a game, including a late score in the 4th qtr. Thanks -
Gerry Dulac

That reminds me of Frasier Crane's line to Cliff in a "Cheers" episode -- "Tell me Cliff, what color is the sky in the your world?" To answer your question, their goal is to keep the game close. I don't imagine they get carried away and devise ways to score 28 points, unless it's with a pick-six, blocked punt and scoop-and-score.

Rudolph is the best option to stretch the field. Why are the Steelers so reluctant to give him an opportunity. Would it shed light on a poor over paid Trubisky contract?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
That is not the reason, but it has to do with the same reason they brought in Trubisky over Rudolph in the first place -- they believe he is a better fit for the way they desire to play. I'm not saying it's the right reason; I'm just saying it's the reason

Hi Gerry, I'm going to depart from the "Fire Tomlin Club" to say that he is being over criticized for this year's results.  Aside from a trend towards mediocrity (the Chiefs with 5 losses?) in the NFL, injuries are ruining many teams and the Steelers are no different.  Add to it that the Steelers are in a quarterback transition from years of stability and have undergone significant player changes on defense and the offensive line, which hurts cohesiveness.  Two major criticisms are that the coaching staff is weak and they have not drafted well in recent years, but these can be fixed without replacing Tomlin.  If I'm the owner, I extend Tomlin and force him to make major changes to the coaching staff.  What say you?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
I say you make a couple good points.

Gerry love the chat! Joe Flacco is on the Browns practice squad. So he’s technically a free agent. Why haven’t the Steelers tried to sign him? You’d be messing with the Browns. At the very least.
Gerry Dulac
10:15
Because the Browns would sign him to the active roster soon as a team tried to claim him

Robinson always is near the ball when on the field. What is holding him back. Pass coverage and or on field communication?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
Apparently a lot of things
Uncle Larry
10:15
Bo Nix for the Steelers if he is available?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
I think you can Nix that.

Gerry, you and your counterparts have always been arbiters of reason when impatient fans have called for Tomlin's dismissal - letting them know it is an overreaction and not even really engaging in the discussion. Now, however, I see articles, podcasts, local sports radio all discussing if Tomlin is the problem, meaning you professionals think there is something there.  What's different now?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
That's the opinion of people who do podcasts, talk shows and post on Twitter. Do not mistake what people think for what people know.

Gerry. Mike Tomlin’s BFF Jay Glazer said the Commanders should call the Steelers about a Mike Tomlin trade. Does that mean Tomlin secretly would be interested in that job given his friendship with Glazer? Would Rooney be amenable to a trade proposal?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
I think Jay Glazer musta picked up on what my old colleague and friend Ed suggested as a possibility

GB in Florida in any business including the sports business if you have been in a position for 17 years you become stale not only Tomlin but Rooney as well. What happened in the previous seasons does not work now. What can Tomlin do to motivate the team and himself.
Gerry Dulac
10:20
It's tough to motivate anyone when you don't have Ben Roethlisberger as your QB

Still frustrated by the 4th and 2 call but not many are mentioning we had third and 2. Why not 2 run plays?
