OK kids, we're going to start our chat in about 5 min so get ready....
9:50
OK, here we go...

Gerry, is Donte Jackson playing this coming game? was he injured?
Gerry Dulac
9:50
Mike Tomlin indicated yesterday he could be ready to go.

With the offenses the Steelers are going up against starting this week, does it make sense to continue to ease Mike Williams into the lineup slowly when Jefferson is producing virtually nothing?
Gerry Dulac
9:51
They will play him accordingly as he gets comfortable with the offense and understands what he's doing

Gerry: I have a bad feeling that Tomlin will approach the early stages of this game expecting a typical 17-13 Ravens-Steelers game whereas Harbaugh will look at the Steelers defense and think "we can put up 35 on these guys too".  That will cause the Steelers to be too conservative early on both sides of the ball.  Should I fear that the Steelers will live in their fears?
Gerry Dulac
9:51
I say just sit back and enjoy the game. It should be a good one

I know the "Stillers" are 7-2. BUT...with Tomlin we still have Coaching, Strategy, In game adjustments, Mis-management, poor fundamentals and undisciplined behavior as issues on the team. They just beat their 1st good opponent by a point on a last minute miracle play. I don't see what all the euphoria is about. Ben had as good or better records and went nowhere in winning a Playoff game. What say you?
Gerry Dulac
9:52
I stopped at "BUT."

How is Cameron Johnston doing?  Is he out for the entire season?  Do you see him competing for the punting job after he returns, or has Corliss Waitman earned the role?
Gerry Dulac
9:52
He is done for the season. His injury was nasty. But, if healthy, he will be the punter in 2025

Hey Gerry when do the cameras officially start filming for Hard Knocks? I feel like we’re missing out on some amazing times behind the scenes so far (Even though we’re hoping for even better times the rest of the season)
Gerry Dulac
9:53
They already are I believe.
Nico
9:53
Have you heard if next year’s draft is rich in defensive line talent?  Here’s hoping the Steelers can pick up several quality additions.
Gerry Dulac
9:53
I agree, but it's too early for me to start evaluating the draft
Oliver Putnam

Gerry, over the past few weeks you have rightfully said that the Steelers brought Russell Wilson here to be the starter. I believe they anointed him the day he signed his contract. Coversely you have often said that Pickett ran away from the "competition". Isn't it more likely that Pickett knew there was NEVER going to be any sort of competition and did not want to be part of the charade he knew was imminent?
Gerry Dulac
9:54
To a degree, I agree. He saw the writing on the wall, yes, but how about the competitor in him. Didn't he want to fight for what he believes is his? Obviously not.
Nico
9:55
Do you see Omar Khan acquiring extra draft choices to replace those we’ve traded away?  What could he give up to make that happen?
Gerry Dulac
9:55
They always seem to do that and I'm sure they will.

4 tight ends were in the field at one time in DC. Does this reflect  the WR room or it is a master design?
Gerry Dulac
9:55
It reflects Arthur Smith's approach to using TEs
JW
9:55
pass plays to TE’s lacking or are they needed to help OL?
Gerry Dulac
9:55
Pass plays to Freiermuth are lacking

Gerry, Your colleague Joe Starkey is able to use humor and sarcasm in a way that laughs WITH his readers, not AT them.  Could you learn from him?
Gerry Dulac
9:56
Let me know when he's at the comedy club and I'll go study his approach

Lets say the Steelers go to the SB and deja vu need a TD for the win at the 2 yd line, will Russ pass or hand off to Najee.
Gerry Dulac
9:57
Hmmmm....

What happen to Beaton breakout season? Has he just been average?
Gerry Dulac
9:57
He wasn't so average on that stop on Jayden Daniels on Sunday

Gerry -  Yes he was more involved last week and scored a touchdown but the lack of targets to Freiermuth continues to baffle me.  I feel like he should get 6-8 targets and 5 or so receptions every week.  Any thoughts/ideas on why they're not featuring him more?
Gerry Dulac
9:59
Couldn't agree more. He has been targeted as many times as Darnell Washington (8) the past three games. Glad to see them using Washington more in the pass game, but Freiermuth should be getting twice as many targets, not the same amount

Gerry, what's wrong with Minkah?
Gerry Dulac
9:59
Nothing

with the new kickoff rule it appears Boz on most occasions is intentionally putting the ball in play vs kicking it out of the end zone. In the Commanders game instead of starting from the 30, on several occasions they started on the 35 or 40. what are your thoughts on this strategy?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
I think it depends on who is the kick returner. If it's someone they don't want touching the ball, they probably won't kick it short. But I'm surprised more teams are keeping the ball in play as opposed to automatically giving them the ball at the 30

Gerry, love the chats. Do you anticipate Mike Williams getting a more robust snap count this week?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
I'm sure it will be a little more after getting more practice this week to learn the offense
Andrew from Johnstown

Good morning Gerry! With Russell's success so far this season, if this continues, what do you think the Steelers plan will be with him and Fields this offseason? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:02
I know what it will be with Russ -- they intend to sign him and he intends to sign. At least, that is the plan. But I think Fields might have earned him a chance with another team in free agency after the way he played the first six games. It will be up to him. I'm sure the Steelers would like to have both
